About the TEAC TN-400BT-SE

Classic analog sound plus Bluetooth convenience
Classic analog sound plus Bluetooth convenience
We just love a design that's stylish and practical, and the TEAC TN-400BT-SE is a good example of that. It's certainly beautiful to look at, with a gorgeous wood finish, precision-milled aluminum controls, and a graceful S-shaped tonearm.
The built-in phono preamp allows you to connect directly to just about any amplifier or receiver you care to use. And it's got built-in Bluetooth with high-quality aptX® encoding that lets you stream from the 'table to compatible speakers or headphones, for a touch of modern convenience.
Hear music, not noise
It's truly impressive how much clever engineering goes into something so pretty to look at. Under the turntable's polished exterior is a heavy MDF base designed to resist external vibration. Its dense die-cast aluminum platter spins on a polished stainless steel spindle and brass bearings that minimize friction for smooth, silent rotation. Its variable-speed belt-drive system isolates motor vibration, and its ability to play 33-1/3, 45, and 78 rpm discs will delight serious vinyl collectors. The curved aluminum tonearm — equipped with a pre-mounted moving-magnet cartridge — ensures super-accurate tracking and satisfying, rich tonal accuracy.
Enjoy soulful vinyl sound with minimal setup
You probably want to spend as little time possible setting up your system so you can get right to the joy of listening. That's why the TN-400BT-SE comes out of the box virtually ready to play. Its pre-matched, factory-mounted phono cartridge and tonearm take the guesswork out of installation, and give you optimized sound quality with minimal effort. A few simple steps to dial in key settings like tracking force and anti-skating are all it takes to get this 'table primed and ready to go.

Features
3-Speed Belt Drive Turntable: The TEAC TN-400BT is a manual belt-drive turntable that is powered by a high torque DC motor, while a precision stainless steel spindle and durable brass spindle holder maintain accurate rotation speed. The turntable supports 33-1/3, 45 (adapter included), and 78 (compatible cartridge/stylus sold separately) RPM speeds.
Note: The groove of a 78 RPM record is 3 to 4 times wider than typical 33-1/3 or 45 RPM record, so it might damage the stylus and cause noise when you play back the record with pre-installed cartridge/stylus. You will need a 78 RPM compatible cartridge/stylus (sold separately - see Accessories Tab).
High-Density MDF Plinth & Shock-Absorbing Feet: The TN-400BT features a high-density MDF plinth (base) that rests on four aluminum shock-absorbing feet to minimize unwanted vibration and resonance. Also included is a 12" (30cm) high inertia aluminum die-cast platter and soft felt mat that further reduces vibration effectively. Together, the high-density MDF plinth, die-cast aluminum platter, felt mat, and shock-absorbing feet minimize vibrations and resonance for clearer sound when you playback your vinyl collection.
S-Shaped Static-Balanced Tonearm: The 8.8125" (223mm) S-shaped, static-balanced aluminum tonearm is equipped with a counterweight and anti-skating mechanism that allow an exact setting of balance as well as tracking pressure, ensuring accurate tracking during playback. A tonearm lifter is also fitted for smooth lowering of the tone-arm onto records. The tonearm takes universal-type headshells so you can change cartridges with relative ease. In order to reduce signal losses between the tonearm and the headshell, gold-plated contact points are employed, to help deliver an uncorrupted audio signal.
Pre-Installed Audio-Technica AT95E Cartridge: An Audio-Technica AT95E MM (moving magnet) cartridge is pre-installed to the turntable's s-shaped, static-balanced, aluminum tonearm at the factory. This all-purpose MM cartridge employs a lightweight aluminum cantilever that helps deliver an accurate, highly musical standard of playback.
Switchable Phono MM Preamp: The TEAC TN-400BT features a built-in Phono MM preamp that allows you to connect the turntable to a line-level or Phono MM input of your AV receiver, integrated amplifier, or powered speakers. The Phono EQ amplifier employs a hi-fi quality NJM8080 op-amp chip (designed by JRC) which amplifies the tiny audio signal from the stylus with minimum of distortion. Turn the built-in Phono preamp "On" to connect the turntable to a line-level input of your receiver or amplifier. Turn the built-in Phono preamp "Thru" to connect the turntable to a Phono input of your receiver or amplifier.
Gold-Plated Stereo RCA Outputs: The TEAC TN-400BT turntable is outfitted with a set of stereo RCA outputs to connect to your AV receiver, integrated amplifier, or powered speakers. The stereo RCA outputs are gold-plated to prevent oxidation and ensure years of reliable performance with excellent audio fidelity.
Bluetooth Transmitter: In addition to Phono or Line connectivity, the TN-400BT is able to deliver sound wirelessly via its built-in Bluetooth transmitter to a Bluetooth-enabled AV receiver, powered speaker, or set of headphones (all sold separately). The pairing button is located next to the tone-arm and illuminates when your Bluetooth-enabled receiver, speaker, or headphones is successfully connected. The turntable has a wireless range of approximately 30'.
- Supported Codecs: In addition to support Bluetooth's standard SBC audio codec, the TN-400BT also supports Apple's AAC and Qualcomm's aptX audio codec for higher quality wireless audio playback. Your Bluetooth-enabled receiver, powered speaker or headphone must also support AAC or aptX.
- Multiple Device Pairing: You can pair multiple Bluetooth-enabled playback speakers and headphones (up to 8) with the TN-400BT, but only one device can be connected and used for playback at a time.
Dust Cover: The TEAC TN-400BT comes with a detachable, hinged dust cover to protect the turntable and your vinyl records from dust and debris.

First off, it's a beautiful turntable. It is extremely quiet. I bought a stabilizer board for under the unit. It was extremely easy to set up. The cover was preassembled on the base. The manual is a little hard to follow for the adjustments.
