Great Turntable

I went with an open box item to save a few bucks, so when it got to my house I was not surprised that there were a few small holes in the box. When I opened it up though there was another box inside that was in perfect condition, in fact it looked like it was still sealed from the factory. Good going Crutchfield! I bought this table because of the removeable head shell, it makes it so much easier to switch out cartridges that way. I was not really sure how good the Sumiko Oyster that came with the table would be, so I was already planning on replacing it. After setting the unit up and playing a few records I was surprised how much detail it brought out of the vinyl for a conical stylus. It does have more surface noise than an elliptical stylus, but it was not bad although I believe I'm still going to get a better one. Overall the Teac looks great and I love the fact that its a direct-drive table and no belt to mess with. It turns at a real constant speed and if there is any wow and flutter I sure can't tell. The only bad thing I've noticed was in the cueing lever because unlike my Project Evo where you can just give the lever a tap and it will go all the way down by itself the one on The Teac does not. It goes down far enough to play the first couple of tracks on the album ok but the inner ones it skips clean over, I thought I was having problems with the anti-skating control at first until I realized what the problem was. Now I just make sure to press the lever all th
Pros: Looks and plays real nice
Cons: Cueing lever, not really bad just takes some getting used to.

I'm not an expert on turntables and cartridges but this seems to be very excellent quality . I recommend this unit .
