Make the outdoors even greater

Designed for long-lasting performance

To achieve its robust performance, each Voyager 50 features a 5-1/4" graphite injected woofer, allowing it to produce more resonant bass without bottoming out. The 3/4" soft dome tweeter is made of Kortec®, a multi-layered material exclusive to Boston's tweeters that allows them to deliver smooth, articulate highs without any unwanted resonance. The Voyager 50's tough polypropylene cabinet resists damage from moisture and ultra[kill hyphen]violet light, and all the internal parts are sealed and gasketed. The Voyager 50 can even be used safely in marine environments.

Mounting the Voyager 50 is a cinch: the adjustable C-brackets let you aim the sound toward a desired listening area. The bracket is made from heavy-duty, corrosion-resistant aluminum for long-term durability. And the speaker's wedge-shaped cabinet allows for flexible placement, even in tight spaces like in corners and under eaves.

Boston's Voyager Series was created as an all-purpose solution for indoor, outdoor, and marine speaker needs. The speakers are actually optimized for outdoor use, with the ability to project sound in a focused area.

These sound great!

Flaco from Austin, TX on 9/27/2018

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

First of all, the sound of these exceeds my expectations. My neighbor 200 yards away says she loves my music too (non-facetiously, I should add) LOL. Luckily she can't hear it from inside her house, likely because I only have them turned up 2/3 of the way or so. Two reasons for the one star ding, neither of which has anything to do with sound quality: 1. I can't see how to take the grilles off (for painting) without damaging them (the user pamphlet is terse at best), and 2. I could be mistaken, but it seems as if the 5-way posts turned a little in the speaker box as I tightened them down. Otherwise, I absolutely love these speakers! It's so nice to go outside in the evening and smoke a cigar with good music playing with a great sound stage, as opposed to listening to the inside my shed speakers, which gives me a monaural effect outside (I don't smoke in there). FWIW I have them mounted up about 10 feet, separated by about 8 feet, and I sit roughly 15-20 feet away from the building.

Pros: As I have read somewhere, great voice for outdoors--clear as can be with just flat eq. Various mounting options for the perfect outdoor sound stage. Loud! (If you want it)

Cons: No user manual to speak of.

Great Product & Spectacular Customer Service

dever from Philadelphia on 6/6/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers are great. Wonderful separation of sound, sturdy for outdoor use, and look great on the deck. Even better is Crutchfield's customer service: next-day initial delivery, easy return after I realized the first speakers I ordered were too big for the physical space, next-day credit to my account and next-day delivery on the right-sized replacement order. Beyond anything I expected and puts other companies to shame...

Voyager® 50

sebarbanel@yahoo.com from Glastonbuty, CT on 7/12/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

A solid outdoor speaker. I installed these in my garage where I homebrew year round. The speakers provide solid mid to high end. Given the 5 1/4 woofers and a small enclosure the bass is passable and pretty much what I expected. Overall clarity is good and the speakers create a decent sound stage in a harsh environment.

Pros: Good sound for the size. Easy to install. Quality materials and construction.

Cons: None at this time, just understand what you are buying.

Using outdoors with Sonos

Thaddeus from Garrison, NY on 5/31/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers are great and with the price through Crutchfield I couldn't go wrong. The speakers were mounted on the rear of my house and provide full, clear sound throughout my backyard. I am using them with my Sonos system and am very happy with that as well.

Features

Overview: The Boston Acoustics Voyager 50s are indoor/outdoor/all-weather high-performance speakers that are specially voiced for open-air use. They have an adjustable bracket to allow you to mount them in a wide variety of locations. The Voyager 50s are sold in pairs.

Woofers: Each speaker is equipped with a 5-1/4" graphite-injected, copolymer woofer for solid, more resonant bass. The Deep Channel Design woofers use a deeply grooved pole plate that enables the voice coil to travel farther for greater output without bottoming out. The woofer uses a butyl rubber surround.

Tweeters: The Voyager 50s feature 3/4" Kortec soft dome tweeters. Kortec is a silky fabric saturated on the underside with a proprietary stiffening agent. Because the inside surface of the dome is ultra stiff, the tweeter tracks the signal with ease and produces an excellent transient attack. Simultaneously, the soft, self-dampening top layer eliminates unwanted resonance, so the sound is smooth and articulate.

Weatherproof: Drawing from over a decade of all-weather speaker expertise, Boston Acoustics built the Voyager series to minimize exposure of acoustic parts to weather and with materials proven to resist the elements. The cabinets are polypropylene and are resistant to impact and UV rays. The grilles and mounting brackets are made of aluminum, and the speaker connectors are gold-plated. All the drivers are manufactured from high-tech plastics, rubbers, and other materials that have been extensively tested for durability.

5-Way Binding Posts: The gold-plated 5-way binding posts will accept bare wire up to 12 gauge, pin connectors, spade connectors, banana plugs, or dual banana plugs.

Note: Two plastic caps in the ends of the binding posts will need to be removed before banana plugs can be used.

Mounting Brackets: The included heavy-duty aluminum C-brackets securely hold the speaker to most any surface while offering enormous placement flexibility. They allow you to rotate the speakers almost 90° each direction after they've been mounted, letting you direct the sound to different areas as needed. The speakers' wedge shape makes corner placement easy.

Note: If you remove the bracket, the 1/4"-20 threaded inserts for the bracket's knobs can be used with 3rd party mounting brackets.

Crutchfield asked
Why did you buy this?

these would fit in the area where I have to replace my old outdoor speakers [ Tracey  Oct 05, 2018 ]
Still have my first pair from 10yrs ago. Going strong! [ Chad  Jun 07, 2017 ]
Recommendation from David and appears to be a good value for the money with sale price. [ Ralph F.  Oct 09, 2018 ]
I have a sound system inside my man cave outbuilding. I like to sit outside and smoke a cigar in the evening, but just having the shed door open to hear the music doesn't give me a proper sound stage. Also, I don't want my cigar smoke inside the building where my coffee roaster and ham radios are. So I thought I'd give these speakers a whirl. Got white because these speaks will be in the south Texas sun for ~8 hours per day in the summer. [ Jon  Sep 14, 2018 ]
I bought the same speakers 20 years ago and they have worked great. [ JOHN  Apr 09, 2016 ]

1 question already asked

I used these speakers in Honduras for 5 years on an outside patio. Now they are in NC on an outside patio, still perfect.. Major temperature change and humidity was through the roof. [ TIM  Sep 08, 2018 ]
I have two pair of these speakers. One of which I bought 15 years ago. They've been hanging outside from day one. Through rain, snow and full sun. Still work perfectly. Highly recommend them. I think they should be fine in your conditions. [ Chad  Sep 07, 2018 ]
