Helpful, but could be better.

Great idea and easy to use. However, the brackets did not click into the DIN sleeve as solidly as I would have hoped for. The kit does not securely hold the receiver, so I had to bend the brackets back ninety degrees to help with the hold (and this is after also using the securing strap on the back on the unit).

Pros: Straight forward and easy to use/install.

Cons: Cheap, flexible metal. Does not securely lock into the DIN sleeve.

Expensive pieces but they work.

The kit works (with some grinding and careful cutting) as it should for this install; 1980 Triumph TR8. Anyone familiar with the hallucinogenic TR8 radio location already knows that this is not a straightforward install. The radio is canted at 45 degrees and has precious little room behind. Would have given 4 or 5 stars but for 2 reasons 1.) The brackets: these were considerably of a thinner gauge metal than those supplied originally with my RetroSound "RC 900C" and did not engage the cage as firmly as they should, and 2.) The price for this kit @$44.99 along with the RetroSound faceplate and knob @$29.99 kit (which I also needed to complete the install) came in at close to $80 for what is essentially some cheapish sheetmetal and a heavy gauge plastic faceplate (with knobs). (BTW I already had knobs, they came with the radio.) The installation turned out well though it takes some careful measuring and prep to make that happen.

Pros: Includes the parts you need. Saves a lot of custom piecework.

Cons: Price. Quality of metal parts.

Just what was needed

Worked just fine in my 1958 MGA. I had to widen the opening just a bit but this kit provided the stable mounting platform that was needed.

Pros: Nice and universal, can fit any car with the right size opening

Cons: A bit flimsy, but gets the job done

DIN repair kit

If you are unfortunate enough to have a DIN hole in your dash you will need this. You will also need one of the large rectangular plastic face plates to cover DIN hole. DIN boxes are not universal so you will have to remove the old one and install this one. Bend a few tabs and its done. Brackets mount easy to your RS stereo and then just slide in and click in place. Keys allow you to remove stereo if you didn't get it right the first time. Fixing the back of the stereo to a solid frame piece is a must.

Pros: Makes DIN installation a snap.

Cons: none
