It took a little grinding to enlarge the hole for the base as well as the hole for the cable, but those alterations should be expected in old vehicles. But, neither of the furnished shims would work. The thinner shim was too thin and the larger shim was too thick. I had to use a couple of 3/4" washers along with the thin shim for it to work. No one but me will ever know they're in there though.
Pros: Overall, a pretty simple installation even with the grinding.
Cons: Needs a couple of additional shims to account for differing installations.

Didn't fit correctly on my 65, I paid the extra money for this one rather then the 25 dollar one on I found elsewhere and it wasn't any better.
Pros:
Cons: It doesn't fit the cowl correctly
