Made for your classic Ford
Got a vintage mid-60's Mustang, Ranchero, or Falcon that needs a little audio help? Enter the RetroSound Detroit M1A receiver. This ingenious radio fits a wide variety of classic Fords, thanks to RetroSound's patented "InfiniMount" adjustable shaft/bracket system. You can even install the Detroit M1A chassis remotely with an optional RetroSound extension cable for customizing versatility. Now you can cruise in style and enjoy your music in a whole new way.
Simplicity is key
The Detroit M1A looks like an old-fashioned radio, but the vintage push-button styling conceals a thoroughly modern receiver that's made to entertain you. You can enjoy all your favorite AM/FM stations, plus you can plug your smartphone, Dock-and-Play satellite radio, portable music player, or just about any source with a headphone jack into the auxiliary input on the rear of the receiver. The solid built-in amplifier delivers 18 watts RMS per channel, plenty of power for most situations. And new for 2021, this radio's improved circuit board includes built-in noise suppression, which ensures your sweet music will be crisp and clear.
More power to you
Want to add some serious power to your RetroSound receiver? The Quad4 amplifier delivers 45 watts RMS by four channels to your speakers without taking up a lot of space. The super-compact amp plugs into your radio's harness and, in most cases, can be powered from your fusebox, so you'll save a lot of time and effort on the installation. RetroSound also makes low-profile car speakers that fit into a wide range of older cars and trucks, so you can be sure that your sound system will do justice to your vintage vehicle.
Adapt it to a DIN opening
If your classic car has already been altered to accept a DIN (2" tall) radio, we offer a repair kit to convert your dash opening back to its original splendor!
This radio does not play CDs.

Shaft-Style Radio
Vehicle Compatibility: RetroSound's Detroit is designed specifically to fit select 1964-1966 Ford Mustang, Falcon, and Ranchero vehicles. The compact size installs easily and discreetly behind the dash for a fully integrated look. It mounts seamlessly into your dash, with no additional faceplates or bezels needed (black and chrome knobs are sold separately).
Infinimount System: The Detroit radio features RetroSound's Infinimount System. In this design, the shaft knobs and the display face are not permanently mounted to the unit, but instead connect to the unit via a harness so you can space the radio's shaft knobs at various distances from the chassis of the radio, as well as mount the face independently from the chassis body using the supplied mounting brackets.
LCD Display: The RetroSound Detroit features an LCD with a digital read-out. The unit's LCD offers an ultra-wide, off-axis viewing angle and is daylight compatible. The LCD will display clock and tuner information. The color illumination of the LCD is white (fixed).
Built-in Tuner & Aux Input
RDS AM/FM Tuner: The Retrosound head unit features a built-in RDS AM/FM tuner. The unit's tuner features 3 FM bands and 2 AM bands. A total of 30 AM/FM presets can be stored manually or automatically. Select between Local and Distant settings can aid in listening to weak FM radio stations or compensate for stations that have too strong of a signal. This unit's tuner can be set to USA or European tuning.
Aux Input: The universal shaft-style receiver features a 3.5mm auxiliary input connected to the rear chassis by 7" pigtails. The Aux input provides a connection for portable external audio sources such as a MP3 player or CD player.
