About the RetroSound MAT-10-SD Package

Stop the noise, hear the music

One of the most cost-effective ways to improve the sound in any vehicle is to apply sound-dampening material to its metal parts. This reduces road noise and interior reverberations, so you'll hear your music more clearly with fewer competing sounds. RetroSound's MAT-10-SD RetroMat package contains two 10-inch by 10-inch self-adhesive mats that'll go a long way toward turning the flimsy sheet metal of your car door into a solid, non-resonant speaker baffle.

3-ply construction

RetroMat consists of a layer of butyl rubber, followed by closed cell foam, then aluminum, and a bitumen adhesive. It's less than 1/16"  thick, so it's easy to cut to shape. It's also simple to apply: just peel off the paper backing, stick it in place, and roll it flat.

Get more than one package

The more sound-deadening material you use, the better-sounding you'll make your vehicle's listening space. This RetroMat package's great low price means you can get multiple packages and apply some serious sound-deadening to your vehicle's doors, floorpan, firewall, wheel wells, trunk, and hood without breaking the bank. Warranty: 60 days.

Rattle Stopper

It did exactly what I needed it to do, which was to quiet an annoying rattle coming from a rear 5.25 speaker in my toyota fj cruiser. The speaker is mounted to just the plastic panel. I applied the retrosound mat behind the plastic for a clean look. It is thick and has a nice deadening feel to it. The adhesive backing seems very high grade, it should stick to anything. I also cut a small strip and applied just below the speaker connectors then attached it to the wires and the base of the magnet. This will keep speakers wires connectors from coming loose. The retrosound mat is reasonably priced and will make speaker install sound better. crutchfield ordering and shipping as always was top notch.

Pros: easy to work with and apply. Don't install speakers without it

Cons: none

I think this is more reasonably priced than similar sound deadening material I have seen.
