Bluetooth Technology: The Dual XRM405BT is equipped with built-in Bluetooth allowing you to make and receive phone calls wirelessly through the receiver; as well as stream music wirelessly from your smartphone to the head unit. In order to use Bluetooth wireless technology, your phone must also be Bluetooth compatible and be able to interpret certain profiles. This unit is compatible with the following Bluetooth Profiles:

    • Hands-Free Communication: HFP 1.5 (Hands Free Profile)
    • Audio Streaming: A2DP 1.2 (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile), AVRCP 1.3 (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile).
Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the Dual XRM405BT.

Pairing: Before using your Bluetooth enabled device, it must be paired to the XRM405BT. You can only pair one device at a time with this unit. Once paired, when your Bluetooth device is in close proximity to the Dual receiver, the auto connection function automatically connects the two units. The Dual XRM405BT is compatible with most Bluetooth enabled mobile phones, including the Apple iPhone, Blackberry, and Android smartphones.

Hands-Free Communication w/ Integrated Mic: The Dual XRM405BT allows for wireless communication between the head unit and your Bluetooth enabled smartphone. You can answer an incoming call from the head unit's front-panel control or included remote; or you can set the head unit to auto answer all incoming calls.  Incoming phone call information will be displayed on the unit's front-panel LCD.  You can enter a phone number using the head unit's front-panel controls or the included remote control. You can even quickly redial the last number from the head unit. Use the integrated front-panel microphone to speak into during your phone conversation, while the other party will be heard through your vehicle's speakers. Your car audio speakers will mute automatically during a call.

Note: This receiver does not support phone book transfer or access.

Bluetooth Audio (A2DP/AVRCP): The Dual XRM405BT also allows you to play back stored music and streamed music apps from your Bluetooth enabled smartphone, tablet, or personal music player using a Bluetooth connection. Playback controls included Play/Pause, Stop, & Next/Previous Track. This unit does not display song/artist information from Bluetooth audio devices.

    USB/Aux Integration

USB Port: The Dual XRM405BT digital media receiver is equipped with front-panel full-speed USB (type-A) port for playback of MP3/WMA files stored on a compatible USB mass storage device - such as a USB thumbdrive or portable digital audio player. Audio & Tuner Section

MOSFET Amplifier: The Dual XRM405BT is equipped with a MOSFET amplifier. Compared to conventional power supplies, the MOSFET amplification circuit is smaller and more efficient, and it delivers increased power with less distortion and absolutely zero on/off switching noise. More power means louder and cleaner music at higher volumes because you're not pushing the limits of the amplification circuit. The power output specs for the XRM405BT are as follows:

    • CEA2006 Specs: 18 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 20Hz-20kHz, 1% THD-N)
    • Maximum Power Output: 60 watts x 4 channels (240 watts total)
Note: The power specifications for the XRM405BT are compliant with the CEA2006 Mobile Amplifier Power Testing and Measurement standards from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These standards were developed as a way to equitably compare power specs from model to model and between manufacturers.

2V/5Ch RCA Outputs: The XRM405BT features front, rear and mono-subwoofer 2V RCA outputs. The front and rear speaker RCA outputs are balance and fade adjustable. The mono-subwoofer RCA output is non-fading.

Equalizer: The Dual digital media receiver features the following preset EQ curves (Flat, Pop, Jazz, Rock, & Off/User) to customize your music listening. The Bass & Treble can be independently adjusted from +/-7 when in Off/User EQ mode. Activating the Loudness feature will enhance the bass and treble frequencies when listening to music at low volumes.

Key Beep: When this function is enabled, every button press will output a beep tone.

AM/FM Tuner: The Dual XRM405BT features a built-in AM/FM tuner with manual, seek, & preset tuning. The built-in AM/FM tuner allows you to store up to 18 FM station presets and 12 AM station presets. You can tune your presets manually or have the head unit do it automatically.

    • Local: The Local function allows only strong radio stations to be received, blocking stations with weaker signals.
    • Mono Mode: Selecting the Mono mode can improve reception in areas with weak FM signals.
Note: You can switch the tuner between USA or European tuning.

    Display & Remote Features

Detachable Face: The Dual digital media receiver features a detachable faceplate to deter theft (no face case is supplied). An optional soft face case (142DFC1X, sold separately) can be purchased for this unit.

3.7" Wide LCD: The large 3.7" vibrant LCD allows you to easily view and navigate system menus, features, folders, and song information.

Variable Color Illumination: Offering over 32,000 color combinations, the receiver lets you customize the color illumination of its LCD. You can choose from Blue, Green, Red, Yellow, Purple, Cyan, White, or customize your own color. You can even have the head unit cycle through all colors. Match the receiver's illumination to the your vehicle's interior lighting, or create a color that fits your mood.

Note: The head unit's button illumination remains Blue.

12/24 Hour Clock: The unit's built-in clock will display 12-hour AM/PM time in USA frequency spacing mode. In European frequency spacing mode, the clock will display 24-hour time.

Wireless Remote Control: The XRM405BT comes supplied with an 17-button IR remote control which provides wireless control over the Dual digital media receiver.

so if i were to install a sub i would use the green RCA?
    [ jaye  Aug 30, 2017 ]
    1 answer
That's correct--the XRM405BT features a mono-subwoofer RCA output (in green) for connecting an external sub-amp. Hope that helps!

It say 3 sets of preouts but i see 2 sets and single rca outpout my powered sub 2 rcas do i get a y connector to a single rca?
    [ David  May 18, 2017 ]

The subwoofer pre-out is mono so, yes, if your amplifier requires a left/right stereo input (most do), you can use an RCA Y adapter. I hope that helps. My Bio:

Yes it is, it works really good

Can't say for sure I have an android. But I'm thinking blue tooth should sync up no matter what. I love my stereo.
    [ George  May 03, 2017 ]
Yes, the Bluetooth will pair with any smartphone, including iPhones. My wife uses hers with it all the time.
    [ Zach  May 02, 2017 ]
Yes. IPhone 6 and 7 at least.
    [ Timothy Michael  May 02, 2017 ]
Is the display as bright when viewed form an up-angle, like your eyes 30° below the unit? I have a custom installation that makes me have to view it from that angle.
    [ JeeperDon  Feb 01, 2017 ]

The display is fairly bright all the time. This deck is in my wife's car and she doesn't mind the brightness. But if I'm driving at night in this car on a long trip I will often disconnect the faceplate to turn it off. I'm not sure if there is a way to dim or otherwise adjust the setting. This deck is installed in a Jeep Cherokee and is about 30 degrees below eye level.
    [ Timothy Michael  Feb 04, 2017 ]
No, it's honestly kinda hard to read from a down angle. I just went and tried it. The background is still bright but the actual letters/display text really fade if viewed from an angle.
    [ Zach  Feb 03, 2017 ]
Does the Bluetooth calling work well? Can people easily hear what you are saying without yelling?
    [ Chandler  Apr 04, 2016 ]

Yes, it typically has been working fine for me.
    [ Zach  Apr 11, 2016 ]
It all depends , if your are stopped at a red light or parked it works well. If your are driving specially at high speed then the sound quality is horrible, almost impossible for the other person to hear you.
    [ RAFAEL DURAN  Apr 05, 2016 ]
They say it sounds like I'm in a tunnel. I would honestly spend the extra money for there newer model because I upgraded to the 760bt and everyone says it's way better
    [ Christian  Apr 05, 2016 ]
Hey chandler save your money pal and buy a better radio, i had problems with this radio from the first week it arrived. Heres the problems i had , i use the flash drive for my music and for some sttange reason it sped up the songs and it sounded like the chipmunks were singing.. I had to keep hitting reset button alot ! So it can sound normal.. The bluetooth ppl would say i always sounded like i was in a tunnel.. And the multicolor display looked generic the colors were off red looked orange .. I just sold it a month later for 25.00 so if you still wanna buy.. You been warned ! Lol take care..

No, but you can easily make it display the time through display settings. As it comes from factory, it displays which mode it's in
    [ Jeremy  Apr 04, 2016 ]
I haven't gotten it to. I believe it defaults only to the mode
    [ EARL  Apr 04, 2016 ]
This would be the first time installing a stereo so my question is would I be doing in soldering of the wires? Or does this come with adapters that would be easier to match for a Ford 2002 Escape? Thanks.

The blue buttons are not dimmable but the LED backlighting for the display is. Hold the bottom left button until you see the Subwoofer On/Off option then press the same button until you see the LED choices. Select LED ADJ and you can set the brightness for the individual Red, Green & Blue LED backlighting.

This receiver also play radio so you can just replace it with your old one.
    [ Andrew  May 12, 2015 ]
Yes, if you buy this new stereo, you will have to take your old one out. Also, radio works with this player as well as the aux cord and bluetooth. I personally think this is a fabulous stereo for it's cost! There is no CD player, just an FYI. Nowadays we don't really listen to CDs so it's not a problem for me. Hope this helped!

This item has an AM/FM receiver in it.
    [ JOHN  May 12, 2015 ]
It should work. Mine plays fine. As long as the cables are done properly.
    [ Ernest Williamf  May 12, 2015 ]
To clarify, yes, it has tuner function
    [ Ralph  May 12, 2015 ]
It plays radio, through AUX, Bluetooth, and USB drive. It was fairly easy to install using the PDFs provided. I used factory pocket instead of the provided but did use the kits screws to attach the radio. Threaded in easier. Wire the harness as directed. Be sure to attach the blue wire labeled power antenna. I thought it was for a "power" antenna, but it provides power to the antenna. Had to take everything back apart to connect this when my tuner reception was weak. After connecting, everything was great.
    [ Ralph  May 12, 2015 ]
IT has several different modes. One will be the same radio that your car currently uses. There is a port in the back to connect the radio.
    [ EARL  May 12, 2015 ]
This receiver has an AM FM tuner. It also plays music through Bluetooth from your cell phone. You can also play music from a thumb drive in the USB port. This receiver DOES NOT have a CD drive - however, why would you need a CD drive if you have a USB drive? You do need to remove your old radio before you install this new receiver.
    [ Rodger  May 12, 2015 ]
This stereo replaces your factory stereo. Your car antenna will connect to this stereo so you can still play radio. It has 3 FM and 2 AM banks of 6 presets. You can also play audio through Bluetooth, AUX input, or USB.
    [ Tyler  May 12, 2015 ]
I connected all of the wires from the radio to the wiring harness and i noticed i have an extra black wire on the top right of the radio. It isn't near any of the other wires, do i just leave it unconnected and what is the purpose of this wire?
    [ Jason  Apr 27, 2015 ]
    3 answers
The black wire that is not from the connectors is the Bluetooth antenna.
    [ JOHN  May 12, 2015 ]
I also saw this short black wire. I assumed it was a small antenna so you could get some reception even if you did not connect the standard antenna plug.
