Cobra CDR 875G GPS and Smartphone Enhanced HD Dash Cam

You'll get a high-definition recording of your adventures on the road.

Catch whatever comes your way in HD

Cobra built the compact CDR 875G so that it won't crowd your field of vision when you're driving. Plus, it's easy to swap between cars, thanks to a convenient suction-mount and 12-volt power plug. Installation is simple, and with an 8GB memory card included, this dash cam is ready to use right out of the box.

The fully automated camera will start recording once the engine is turned on and it'll stop when the engine is turned off. Beyond that, you don't need to think about it again if you don't want to. All you need to know is that the CDR 875G is loop-recording a high resolution, wide-angle view of the road to document whatever comes your way.

Always ready

With so many distracted drivers on the road, accidents are inevitable. If you're involved in one, the built-in G-Sensor will detect sudden acceleration or a collision, then save the critical footage. An integrated microphone allows audio recording capability, and if you need to take the cam out and get some shots of damage, the CDR 875G features photo capability, a 2" LCD display, as well as a rechargeable battery with up to 30 minutes of record time.

Permanent installation

For a tidy, permanent installation, use Cobra's hardwire kit for dash cams (not included).

Product Research

Features

Overview: The Cobra CDR875G Drive HD dash camera can record audio and video as you travel down the highway at up to Full HD 1080p. It can also take JPEG still images up to 2.1MP. You can monitor what you're recording on the built-in 2" LCD monitor. The dash camera features built-in Bluetooth Smart technology, which enables GPS and other enhancements, to keep you safe as you travel. The CDR875G operates the supplied DC power/USB adapter, with a built-in rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery backup.

GPS Enabled: The CDR875G is equipped with a GPS receiver on the windshield mount that plugs directly into the camera, and embeds the exact location, date, and time into each recording. The GPS chip picks up signals from overhead satellites to calculate your precise location, as well as the time and date. The embedded GPS data can be viewed on your computer or smart device when you play them back using Cobra's Drive HD Player application.

Bluetooth: The CDR875G features Bluetooth Smart technology, which enables you to connect the dash camera to your smartphone. Using the Cobra iRadar smartphone app features driver awareness alerts regarding red light cameras, live police, speed cameras, caution areas and speed traps. The app is compatible with iPhone/iPad (running iOS 6.0 and later), as well as Android devices (version 2.3.3 and up) with Bluetooth Smart. The apps are available from the Apple App Store and Google Play.

Note: The device cannot pair with Cobra's DriveHD and iRadar apps simultaneously.

Lens: The camera is equipped with a super wide-angle lens with a 160° angle of view. The camera is on a swivel that rotates for front or rear recording. This gives you a wide view of the road, or inside the cab.

Recording/Playback Modes: The CDR875G's Mode Button lets you switch between Video Recording, Still Image Recording, Video Playback, and Still Image Playback.

Recording Resolution: The CDR875G is equipped with a 2 megapixel image sensor that is capable of recording video up to Full HD and 2.1M still images. The still image resolution is the same as the chosen video resolution. You can choose from the following resolutions for video or still image recording:

Recording Mode Video Resolution Video Recording Time
8 GB MicroSD
1080P Full HD 1920 x 1080 / 30 fps 2 h 37 m
720P HD 60fps 1280 x 720 / 60 fps 2 h 10 m
720P HD 30fps 1280 x 720 / 30 fps 4 h 16 m

Watermark: As the CDR875G records, a watermark with a time/date stamp is embedded on all video recordings. No watermark is contained on photo files.

microSD Card: The audio and video are recorded onto a Speed Class 4 or higher microSD memory card up to 32 GB. An 8 GB microSD card is included with the DashCam.

Continuous Loop Recording: The CDR875G will record in a continuous loop, overwriting old footage when the card becomes full until you save it. Footage is stored in 3, 5, or 10 minute clips. Clips are automatically protected if an impact is detected.

G-Sensor: A built-in G-Sensor can detect when a collision has occurred and will automatically save your recording. If the G-Sensor is triggered and video is not being recorded, it will start recording video automatically. You can set the sensitivity of the G-Sensor from 0 (off), and 1 (easiest to trigger) to 3 (hardest to trigger).

Parking Mode: The Drive HD camera has a parking mode that will only record video when motion is detected. This feature can be used with vehicles that have an always-on accessory port, or units that have been hardwired to power.

HDMI Output: The unit has a Mini HDMI output, allowing you to connect the camera to an HDTV for viewing photos and videos.

USB: The unit's USB port can be used to connect to your PC for file transfer, charge the battery, or to power the unit for recording or playback. Two lengths of USB cable are included: 21" and 118".

Menu Languages: The menu supports the following languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Dutch, Portuguese, Russian, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese.

Backup Battery: The built-in Lithium-Ion battery is intended to operate the unit for a short time after a power loss due to an accident or a crash. Recording will continue for at least 30 minutes, however, the battery is not intended for long-time recording on battery power.

Mounting: The CDR875G comes with a suction cup mounting bracket with the attached GPS receiver. The bracket has a tilting and ball/socket adjustment to allow you to position the camera for best visibility. It can be easily removed from the mount, if desired.

Size? I can't find any dimensions, and California law is picky about windshield placement area and size.

A
Approx 6 inches long from the top of the suction cup to the bottom of the unit and about 3 inches wide.
[ Ralph  Apr 03, 2018 ]

I don't live in California so I can't answer your question. Word of advise, go to the Cobra website and download the manual. The quick start instructions doesn't cover all the setting for setting it up. Example, no sound. We had an incident and the sound would have been very helpful to have had turned on.. Good luck. Tom
[ TOM  Apr 03, 2018 ]
Q
Can I upload the video to my computer ?
[ don  Jul 02, 2017 ]
2 answers
A
Hi Don, Yes. Just connect the supplied USB cable between the dash cam and your computer. The dash cam will show up as a drive (probably D or E). Explore the drive and identify the video segment that you want. Then just copy the appropriate segment and paste it to a suitable location on your laptop C drive. As an alternate method, you could remove the small SD card from the dash cam, mount it in the supplied SD card adapter and plug that into your computers SD slot. However, why bother when it's so easy to connect via USB, plus there's no risk to the SD card that way. Mike
[ MICHAEL  Jul 03, 2017 ]
A
Yes you can. Just connect it via the USB cord
