Worth every penny

I am a pretty critical audio person so let me start by saying these are no indoor speakers. I have Focal Electra 1038be's as my theater speakers so these don't compare to those if that's what you're looking for. I can say these sound very very good for outdoor speakers. I'm not a Bose kind of guy and this is no exception. These blow them away. It's amazing to see hundreds of reviews for them saying how great they are, I can only think they haven't heard these. I had to go off one reviewer who said it's like taking the vail off the music when you hear these so I took a chance. I have B&W's at my summer home and they crush most competition but are rather small. These are large and sound like it. I am pushing these with a Yamaha 100 watt receiver along with a pair of A/D/S 570's in my garage and they work great. Little light on thumping bass but overall a very neutral sound and nicely balanced. Plenty of smooth highs, Focal uses fantastic tweeters. Voices and guitars sound perfect. Easy to mount but screws are not included, no biggie for me. The mount is substantial and holds them very well. Easily adjustable. The push connections have a real nice silicone rubber insulator to keep weather out. Mine are under the Eve so they shouldn't get very wet. Highly recommend!
Pros: Great sound
Cons: Nothing at all.

Getting better, a little better all the time...
Henry from Gold Beach, OR on 3/21/2022
These are still in the 'burn-in' cycle but they are already sounding good and getting better, if still a little rough. But it's already clear they are providing great treble and midrange and a surprising amount of base for an 8 inch cone. In addition, they are an easy load for my Naim Uniti Atom's modest power. I give them four instead of five stars for two reasons. First, the design was not as user-friendly, in terms of mounting, as the Sonance speakers they replaced. Their connections are on the back of the speaker and really need to be connected before hanging them on the mounts, which can be tricky. Second, the silicone speaker wire and jack cover is not as comprehensive as I expected. While I don't believe there's any chance they will get wet in their current location, I'm less confident the corrosive sea air won't be a problem over time as with the 15 year old Sonance design.
Pros: Full range sound with tight midrange and good bass extension Solid and flexible mounts Modest load at 89 dB sensitivity
Cons: Installation requires speaker connections before attaching to mounts Concerned about the speaker wire protection against sea air

Focal 100 OD8
Guest from Export, PA on 7/16/2020
Bought two outdoor speakers 100 OD8 in black. By the third week the outer mesh cover on BOTH separated from its base. One was actually hanging off. Cannot be snapped back into place. Appeared to be a black silicon that held the mesh to the base.

Audiophile Sound From Outdoor Speakers!

Replace my definitive technology aw6500 with these and they sound amazing. They much more refined at the top end and a lot more bass. When I did a back to back, it was like lifting a veil off the sound! Not sure why the other reviewer said that the bass was thin/weak? No complaints here. Sound great and overall a great buy. A bit big though so make sure u read the dimensions carefully.
