Center channel goodness from the driver experts
Center channel goodness from the driver experts
Focal's Chora Series speakers use innovative new drivers that are designed and made in-house for gorgeous, detailed sound. This center channel speaker is your go-to for clear dialogue and on-screen effects if you're building a home theater system with Chora floor-standing or bookshelf speakers.
Innovative woofer design
The pair of 6-1/2" Slatefiber midbass woofers in this speaker are made of recycled carbon fibers, for excellent rigidity. Compared to the woofers in Focal's previous Chorus lineup, these drivers are lighter, more responsive, and have better damping. As a result, the Chora Series can offer better, tighter bass, and respond beautifully to high-current power.
A high-performance tweeter
The TNF inverted dome tweeter used here is known for its wide dispersion. The version in the Chora series uses a material called Poron, which suspends the tweeter from its mount. This suspension is trickled down from the Beryllium drivers in Focal's flagship Utopia speakers. Think of it as memory foam. By maintaining its shape as the driver moves, it significantly reduces distortion for clearer sound.

Features
Two-Way Center Channel Loudspeaker: The Focal Chora Center speaker utilizes a two-way driver design with a 1" TNF aluminum/magnesium inverted-dome tweeter and two 6.5" slatefiber cone woofers for precise and dynamic sound. The center-channel loudspeaker offers the most faithful sound reproduction of dialog, whether you are listening to a movie or music soundtrack.
TNF Aluminum/Magnesium Tweeter: The Focal Chora Center features a single 1" TNF inverted-dome tweeter made of aluminum and magnesium alloy. The inverted-dome technology allows optimal energy transfer and wide dispersion. The aluminum/magnesium makeup guarantees exception performance in terms of stiffness and damping, thus ensuring a subtle blend of softness and dynamics. Performance of the TNF tweeter is enhanced by its new Poron suspension material. Poron is a polyurethane micro-cellular foam which has a porous open-cell structure. This memory foam is very light which means that the suspension will not become damaged or compressed with time. It is an essential element of the TNF tweeter as the suspension allows the dome to move freely. Its uniform and constant physical properties ensure excellent stability and linearity, along with extreme accuracy and distortion-free sound. The result is a sound which is soft and precise and which offers improved harmonics richness and a more precise soundstage
Dual 6.5" Slatefiber Cone Woofers: Slatefiber technology, exclusive to Focal, involves the use of recycled, non-woven carbon fibers applied as a sandwich between two layers of thermoplastic polymer. In their quest for perfection, Focal engineers have opted to use non-woven carbon fibers, all pointing in the same direction to achieve even greater rigidity and better damping. Manufactured in the Focal workshops using an ultra-modern industrial tool, the "slate" effect of the cone provides better damping and rigidity, but also lightness - the three "essentials" of a good loudspeaker driver.
Acoustic Suspension Enclosure: The Focal Chora Center's speaker cabinet uses solid MDF construction, internal bracing, and a non-parallel inner wall structure to reduce internal resonance for less coloration. It features an acoustic suspension (sealed) design for tight, accurate sounding bass.
Grilles: The Chora Series loudspeaker comes with two detachable magnetic cloth grilles that cover the woofers. The grilles have to be aligned just right with the front of the cabinet to magnetically attach to the speaker. The tweeter features its own integrated, non-removable grille.
Binding Posts: The Focal Chora Center is outfitted with a pair of binding post terminals that will accept bare wire (up to 10AWG), pin connectors, spade connectors, and banana plugs (single only). You'll need to remove two plastic caps from the binding post terminals to accommodate banana plugs.
Mounting & Placement Options: The Chora Center can be mounted on a shelf, piece of furniture or speaker stand (sold separately - see Accessories Tab). The speaker should be centered above or below your TV.The speaker should be positioned as close to ear level height as possible when seated in your main listening position.
- Self-adhesive rubber feet are included to keep the speaker stable and protect your mounting surface. The rubber feet add approximately 0.0625" to the overall height of the center-channel speaker.
- There is also a rubber foot which allows you to angle the speaker up or down in order to aim the sound at the listening position, depending on if it is mounted above or below your TV. The rubber foot adds approximately 0.625" to the overall height of the speaker.
Note: The Chora Center does not offer a bracket, keyhole slot, or threaded insert to wall-mount the speaker.
Chora Series: Focal's Chora Series integrates speaker drivers manufactured in France and features an exclusive Slatefiber cone. Every detail of the Chora Series has been meticulously thought out to meet expectations in sound reproduction and aesthetics. The Chora Series by Focal consists of three floorstanding loudspeakers (816/826/826D), one bookshelf loudspeaker (806), a center-channel loudspeaker (Center), Surround loudspeaker (Surround).
Optional Powered Sub: Add on a Focal powered subwoofer (sold separately - see Accessories Tab) for bigger, deep, and more dynamic bass response.
