Transparent sound at any volume

For creating a great mix or master, you want studio reference monitors that let you hear every detail. Grab a pair of Focal's Alpha 65 Evo monitors for clear, detailed sound at any volume. Each sports a super-light, rigid, and fast 6-1/2" Slatefiber cone woofer and 1" inverted aluminum dome tweeter, in a bi-amped configuration that gives you plenty of clean headroom.

The thoughtful cabinet design includes a front-firing bass reflex port that lets you place your monitors closer to walls without muddying the sound. And its rounded corners help reduce a form of sound wave distortion known as diffraction. The tweeter's waveguide provides wide dispersion, so you'll get balanced sound throughout your listening setup, whether you're in a symmetrical control room or a bedroom studio.

Focal Alpha EVO 65 powered studio monitor

You'll get transparent detail from Focal's inverted aluminum dome tweeter and pioneering recycled carbon-fiber woofer.

Innovative Slatefiber woofer

Focal is the first audio manufacturer to use recycled carbon fibers in its speaker drivers. Manufactured in their Saint-Étienne workshops in France, the Slatefiber composite cone uses non-woven fibers with thermoplastic polymer for remarkable speed, rigidity, and damping.

The result is transparent and articulate sound, so you can hear everything that's going on in the mix.

Studio-quality connections and control

You can connect three different audio sources using the 1/4" TRS and XLR balanced and RCA unbalanced inputs. And the +6dB sensitivity switch and bass and treble controls let you dial in the perfect response for your space.

The auto stand-by feature and IEC three-prong detachable power cord are nice touches that enhance the Alpha 65 Evo's pro-level appeal.

Product Research

Features

Active Studio Monitor Speaker: The Focal Alpha 65 Evo is an active two-way near field professional monitoring loudspeaker. This powered studio monitor speaker stands out for its dynamics, neutral tonal balance, and excellent sonic coherence, making it an ideal studio monitor for any type of music.

Two-Way Speaker Design: The Focal Alpha 65 Evo studio monitor utilizes a two-way speaker design with one 1" aluminum inverted-dome tweeter and one 6.5" Slatefiber composite woofer. The studio monitor features a frequency response of 40Hz to 22kHz (+/- 3dB) with a maximum SPL of 104dB (peak @ 1m).

Bi-Amplification: The Focal Alpha 65 Evo studio monitor speaker is powered by two built-in class-D amplifiers. A 30-watt amplifier is used for the tweeter, while a 55-watt amplifier drives the woofer. The amplifier design offers identical tonal balance at low and high volumes.

Bass Reflex Enclosure: The Focal 65 Evo features a bass reflex cabinet with a front-firing port for greater efficiency and deeper bass. The cabinet is rigid and well damped to prevent unwanted distortion caused by vibration.

Inputs: The Alpha 65 Evo studio monitor is fitted with XLR, 1/4" TRS, & RCA inputs. There is a single balanced XLR (10kΩ) connector, one balanced 1/4" TRS (10kΩ) connector, and one unbalanced RCA (10kΩ) connector. Up to three audio sources can be connected to the speaker at one time.

High Shelving: The HF Shelving potentiometer lets you increase or decrease all frequencies above 4.5kHz (4.5kHz - 35kHz) by +/- 3dB in 1dB increments, similar to a Treble control.

Low Shelving: The LF Shelving potentiometer lets you increase or decrease all frequencies below 250Hz (0Hz - 250Hz) by +/- 6dB in 1dB increments, similar to a Bass control.

Sensitivity Switch: This switch function is to allow more signal level from the monitor if necessary. The available sensitivities are 0dB and +6dB. The +6dB setting should be used if your sound source volume is already at its highest level and the overall signal is too low.

Automatic Standby Mode: The Focal Alpha 65 Evo can go into Standby Mode after approximately 15 minutes of no signal. Once the speaker senses an audio signal, it will turn back on automatically. A 2-way switch on the back of the monitor lets you Enable or Disable the Auto Stand-By feature.

Placement: It is recommended that you position the two studio monitor speakers in an equilateral triangle. The three points of the triangle are composed of the two monitors and your listening position. The Alpha 65 Evo can also be wall-mounted using the two rear-panel threaded inserts.
