Focal's FDP 1.2000 mono amplifier can deliver up to 2,000 watts RMS to a subwoofer — providing enough bass to keep up with even the most high-powered audio systems. The FDP 1.2000 uses Class D technology to deliver big-league power from a chassis that's about 2" high.
You can engage the extensive and versatile filter section to optimize the tone and performance for a wide variety of subwoofers and speakers. The variable low-pass filter and adjustable phase focus the bass in your vehicle. An onboard adjustable subharmonic synthesizer allows you to get more bass out of classic recordings. The speaker-level inputs and auto turn-on let you connect this amp to almost any car stereo, even a factory radio.
Remote control, clip light, and bass enhancer
Focal includes a wired remote bass level controller so you can tweak your bass from song to song from your front seat. You'll find subharmonic synthesizer controls on the remote as well. It also features an LED clip light that'll let you know if you're overloading the amp.

Overview: The Focal FDP 1.2000 is a Class D mono subwoofer amplifier. The Class D design and compact aluminum chassis offer efficient dissipation of heat for reliable performance.
Speaker-Level Inputs: The RCA inputs will accept either pre-amp or speaker-level signals from your car's head unit. A speaker level signal is connected to the RCA inputs using a speaker wire to RCA adapter (sold separately).
Balanced/Unbalanced Inputs: The amp features a switch that allows you to change the standard "unbalanced" inputs to "balanced floating ground" inputs. In some cases the balanced setting can reduce noise.
Subharmonic Synthesizer (SHS): When music lacks low bass, the SHS circuit creates more bottom end; the music is sampled, and new tones are created one octave lower than the existing signal. The relative output levels at 45 Hz and 30 Hz are adjusted on the amplifier, and a knob on the wired remote sets the amount of synthesized signal mixed with the music. (The remote must be plugged in for SHS to function.) A switch on the amplifier turns SHS on/off.
Auto Turn-on: When using a speaker level input, the amp will turn on automatically when it senses the input signal.
Multiple Amplifiers: Two identical FDP 1.2000 amplifiers can be strapped together to double the power to a single subwoofer, 2400 watts RMS into an 8Ω load and 4000 watts RMS into a 4Ω load. When used in this "bridged" configuration, one amp is the master and controls the gain, crossover point, and subsonic filter. You can also connect multiple identical amplifiers together in a cascading configuration, with each powering its own speaker(s) and the master amp providing all the controls.
Mounting Brackets: The Focal FDP 1.2000 includes mounting brackets that slide into slots in the bottom of the amp. The included countersunk screws then secure the brackets to the amp.

Front-mounted Controls/Terminals: The amplifier controls and terminals are all mounted on the front panel for a clean installation and easy setup.
Protection Circuits: The amplifier is equipped with protection circuits for short circuits (or speaker impedance too low), overheating, and over voltage. A bank of LEDs indicates the amp's operating status, and where a problem can be found, including blown fuses.
Level Control (Gain): The amplifier will accept both line level and speaker level inputs. The input level range is 350 mV to 8 Volts. The rotary input level control can be adjusted by a standard flat-head screwdriver (not included).
Subharmonic Synthesizer (SHS): A 2-position switch on the amplifier turns SHS on/off. Separate rotary dials adjust the relative output levels at 45 Hz and 30 Hz.
Phase: The output phase is continuously variable between 0° and 180°. The phase can be adjusted on the amp or the wired remote.
Linkwitz-Riley Crossovers: The low pass and subsonic (high pass) crossovers are always engaged, they cannot be bypassed.
- Low Pass: The rotary dial is variable from 40 to 350 Hz; the slope is 24 dB/octave.
- Subsonic: The rotary dial is variable from 8 to 53 Hz; the slope is 48 dB/octave. When using a sealed enclosure the subsonic filter is typically set between 8 Hz and 30 Hz to increase power handling capacity. For a ported enclosure the filter should be set 5 Hz lower than the port tune frequency to prevent damage to the subwoofer.
Balanced/Unbalanced: A 2-position switch sets the signal input circuit to balanced or unbalanced. Unbalanced is typical, but in some cased the balanced setting can reduce noise.
Direct/Master: set The Direct/Master switch is typically left in the Master position. When multiple FDP 1.2000s are bridged or cascaded together, one will be set to Master, the others to Direct.
Wired Remote Control: The included remote plugs into the RJ-25 port. The remote has three knobs, master level, SHS level, and phase (0° to 180°). The LED on the remote is green under normal conditions, but flashes red when the amp is being overdriven, to prompt you to turn the level down. The remote has integrated flanges and screws are included to mount the unit under the dash. The remote dimensions are:

Power Input: Set-screw terminals are provided for connecting the power and ground cables. The terminals can accept up to 2-gauge wire (4-gauge minimum is recommended). The set screws are tightened/loosened with the included 4mm Allen wrench.
Remote Turn-on: The remote turn-on set screw terminal will accept up to 10-gauge wire. The set screw is tightened/loosened with the included 2mm Allen wrench.
Note: The remote turn-on is not needed when a speaker-level input is used. The Auto Turn-on circuit will automatically turn the amp on when an amplified signal is detected (and turn the amp off when the input signal is no longer detected).
Speaker Outputs: There are four pair of speaker output terminals, all internally wired in parallel, to easily connect multiple subwoofers. The set-screw terminals will accept up to 10-gauge wire and are tightened/loosened with the included 2mm Allen wrench.
Signal Input: The amplifier has one pair of stereo RCA inputs that accepts either pre-amp or speaker-level signals. Because it's a mono amp, a stereo input is summed to mono, then amplified. When using a speaker-level input signal, use a speaker wire to RCA adaptor (sold separately) to connect the amplifier to the source unit via speaker wires.
Line Output: There are two RCA output jacks, but they are not a stereo pair. One is an in-phase sum of the stereo input, used when cascading multiple FDP 1.2000 amps together to power multiple subwoofers. The other is an out-of-phase sum of the stereo input, used when bridging two FDP 1.2000 amps together to power a single subwoofer.
Remote Control: The RJ-25 jack is for connecting the included remote control.
Fuses: The amp has six internal 25-amp ATO fuses. The bottom panel must be removed to access the fuses.
