About the Focal Integration IFVW Golf 6
A custom sound system upgrade for your VW
This kit includes custom tweeter enclosures that replace your factory panels.
A custom sound system upgrade for your VW
Are you looking to upgrade the factory speakers in your 2010-up Volkswagen Golf or GTI, but aren't interested in making modifications to your vehicle to get better sound? Focal's IFVW Golf 6 system provides you with a huge improvement in sound quality by letting you replace the VW's front door tweeters and woofers with a set of custom speakers that fit right into the factory locations and plug into the existing wiring. Once these speakers are installed, you'll experience better clarity in vocals, punchier midrange, and more detailed bass lines — without having to cut new holes or run new wiring.
Includes most everything you need to complete the install
This package comes with almost everything you need to improve the sound in your car dramatically. You'll find a pair of 6-3/4" Polyglass woofers, each in a custom frame that mounts up to your door perfectly – no adapter needed. Focal mounted the two aluminum inverted dome tweeters in custom enclosures that snap right into your factory tweeter locations. Every speaker comes with a Volkswagen speaker plug connected, so they plug right into the factory speaker wiring. You'll also find most of the tools needed for the installation in the box.
The woofer mounts right to the door – no mounting bracket needed.
Sounds great with factory power and even better with aftermarket power
Focal designed this set of speakers to deliver superb sound, even when powered by the factory radio. But this system handles up to 75 watts RMS, so an aftermarket car stereo or an external amplifier will make these speakers sound even better.
Warning: You will need drill out the rivets that mount the factory speaker to the door, and then install new rivets. This kit contains the drill bit and rivets needed, but you will need a power drill and riveting pliers (available at your local hardware store).
Grilles are not included; the factory grilles should be suitable for most applications.

Focal Integration IFVW Golf 6 reviews
i ordered these because they seemed (after a previous try with a nice pair of infinity coaxes which failed because of wiring harness issues) to be the best way to upgrade my factory system without cutting and splicing wires in an otherwise pristine '12 GTI. install was easy, except for the "volkswagen" piece of things, and they are a major sound upgrade c/w the factory component speakers. i had a concern about low-end frequency response when i bought them (mfr rated only down to 65hz) which proved to be unfounded, at least for a listener who doesn't need huge bass. the only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is price, but they were/are worth it.
Pros: great sound, especially clarity of mids and highs, painless installation except for the "volkswagen" part.
Cons: high price.

Got these to replace OEM (Dynaudio) speakers in my Golf. I feel they are a nice upgrade. I had JL Audio amps and sub in place already. The Focal speakers are more open and detailed than the Dynaudios. Not everyone likes the Focal inverted dome tweeters, but I think they are some of the most natural and open-sounding high frequency drivers on the market. Low frequency drivers don't seem to extend as low as the Dynaudio, but I think they SOUND better; tighter, not at all muddy. Combined with my JL Audio sub, they are perfect. I wouldn't want to run them without a sub, however. Overall, definitely worth the money.
Pros: Open and detailed without being too shiny or annoying. Tight low-end.
Cons: Definitely need a sub for bass impact.

Install was pretty straight forward. Everything was packaged up as it should be. My only major compliant was of the sound quality. It was pretty muddy compared to my factory setup. I bought these to replace a failing speaker. Unfortunately they need to go back and I'll just order the factory replacement. My advice is that if you already have the factory set up these probably aren't worth it then.
Pros: Easy install. Good build quality
Cons: Sound quality. Rivets are a pain too

The Focal IFVW6 was a replacement for what was already a well rounded factory speaker (Dynaudio) in my '12 Volkswagen Golf R. The installation was painless and didn't consume mass amounts of time. I do enjoy tinkering w/ my car and the install was a joy. A couple of things that I would advise is to make sure you have the right tools and that you have a comfortable time frame in which to work. As far as the component set itself, I saw no issues with build quality or lack of craftsmanship. I found that I had no complications with the install, factory flaws, or box damage to the sail panel tweeters. The fit and finish is excellent as well, the materials used on the plastic body of sail panel tweeters was spot on when compared to the OE Golf R interior. The Focal mid bass is to my liking as well. Full bodied low notes are well pronounced, clear, and bold. I didn't find a weak link with the construction of the tweeter or mid bass either. With my small stereo system (600W monoblock amp & 10" subwoofer) in the R, I have found that i can minimize the sub's volume and get the same low end response from the Focal component set, creating wonderful front staging. This set is truely a unison. The mid and high range blend nicely, tweeters are articulate not airy or too bright. Mid bass is robust and charismatic. Once the break in period has passed, I hope to try them at a elevated volume level. As for now the speakers seem promising, showing signs of many miles of enjoyment! Best wishes!
Pros: Seamless fit and finish, blends well w/ Dynaudio rear speakers in Golf R. Well balanced sound when both brands work together, even on factory power.
Cons: None as of now. The speakers are still in their "break in" stage, once this is complete I hope to enjoy them at a more dynamic power range. If they can impress me at a higher volume, I would have to say the cons are minimal.

Significant improvement over factory system (non-dynaudio) in my 2014 Golf TDI 4-Door. Install is relatively straight forward, however, the build quality of this item is poor and the sound quality, though better than stock, is not consistent with the price. My first kit arrived with a tweeter that had fallen out of its housing (see the other reviews, someone else had this issue as well). Crutchfield sent out a replacement, which was great, except that it was also defective. In the replacement, the tweeter was attached correctly but the grill was detached. I was able to bend it slightly and re-attach, so I didn't bother to go through the return process a third time. We'll see how it holds up. The sound is much more precise and has better dynamic range than the stock system, but I still find Focal products (I have some elsewhere) to be a bit muddy in the lows and mids. The high cost here is really about the fact that this is a custom fit system, but the poor build quality makes that a bad compromise. I would have done better to either get the same result for less money (with more work) or a better result for the same money (with more work). It's worth doing some extra work and making a different choice.
Pros: Simple install, custom fit.
Cons: Poor build quality, sound quality less than expected for the price.

Great improvement at all ranges over stock, even on stock power (non dynaudio). Install was a pain even though everything was included. Drilling out the stock rivets ended up being quite the ordeal, because nothing on a VW is ever easy. Had them for a couple weeks and they're still getting better! I wonder how great they'd sound amplified...
Pros: great sound (after break in period), no wire cutting or splicing, perfect fit in 2011 GTI.
Cons: install not as easy as advertised, makes me want to buy a two channel amp to really push them!

The kit was simple to install - I am a complete noob at installing anything like this and was able to complete the install in under 3 hours. The one tweeter ended up falling out of the triangular piece and Crutchfield sent out a replacement within 2 days! These guys are awesome and the focal speakers sounded SOOO much better than the factory speakers. I'm a audiophile that loves good clean sounding music and tight bass. These speakers produced both in leaps and bounds over the stock speakers. The midrange is so much cleaner and clearer, while offering plenty of volume with the factory head unit. I ended up picking up a Clarion x1410 to use the factory head unit with an aftermarket amp. It pushed these Focal's to another level in terms of both clarity and volume levels without sounding strained. Highly recommend
Pros: Good clean bass that doesn't sound like elephant farts, it's tight and proper sounding. Highs/Mid's offer amazing clarity in comparison to the stock speakers. Easy install
Cons: The driver side tweeter popped out of it's enclosure on the first day of use - but I'm sure this was just bad luck - Crutchfield customer service took care of it speedily and paid for return shipping. These guys are awesome.

Polyglass Cone: The woofer cone has a cellulose pulp base and is coated with a uniform deposit of hollow glass microballs. The addition of the Polyglass layer significantly increases the cone's rigidity without adding much weight. This combination takes advantage of the accuracy and neutrality of the hard outer surface, but maintains the superior damping characteristics of the cellulose pulp.
Surround: The woofers' rubber surrounds are resistant to ultraviolet rays, temperature extremes, and humidity, adding to the system's reliability and longevity.
Inverted Dome Tweeter: Each tweeter uses an inverted aluminum dome, producing a broad sound stage. The tweeters arrive mounted in custom panels that replace the factory tweeter panels.
Crossovers: Each woofer and each tweeter has an integrated crossover. The crossover slopes are 18 dB/octave for the tweeters and 12 dB/octave for the woofers. The crossover point is 4 kHz for both.
