Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
look great can't wait till Christmas
The Focal Listen over-ear headphones feature a one-button in-line remote that controls most phones.
Few names ring out in the world of speakers like Focal. Both their car and home speakers earn high marks from our customers. And if you want to enjoy sound crafted by the French audio experts while you're at work, on the train, or going about your day, grab a pair of these Focal Listen headphones.
Chrome-plated, closed-back earcups help keep the bass tight and punchy. They house mylar and titanium drivers that are based on the ones in Focal's heavy-hitter Utopia and Elear headphones, for lively yet well-balanced sound.
Since these ‘phones are made for listening on the go, comfort is key. Their large earcups are padded with memory foam. A “soft touch” headband rests on your head, rather than clamping down on it. When you're wearing them, the solid Listen headphones seem smaller than they actually are. They feel sturdy and lightweight, and the streamlined industrial design combines curves and sharp angles for a striking look.
On the detachable cable, you'll find a one-button "universal" remote, which offers music and call controls for just about any smartphone, including Apple® and Android™ models. There's a built-in microphone further up the cable, helping ensure the caller on the other end can hear you. Focal also included a soft travel bag and airplane adapter for in-flight entertainment systems.

These have surprisingly clean and accurate sound (my reference is the Grado SR325e, and the Focal is pretty good by comparison), and a nice soundstage for a closed headphone. Unfortunately, they seem to have been designed to fit one specific head, and no other. They suffer from very poor adjustability: no swivels on the earcups, and because the headband is plastic (or appears to be), you can't adjust the (very high) clamping force by flexing it as you can with a metal band. If it happens to fit you, you'll love it. Sadly, it wasn't comfortable for me.
Pros: Pleasing, accurate sound.
Cons: Either they fit or they don't.
Great product. Sound clarity is amazing and they fit very snug. A little heavier then other headphones but I like the sturdy feel it creates. Cool design and great quality materials are used (memory foam ear covers). Only downside is low bass and no volume control on detachable cord.
It's timbral and spatial as well. What else do you want more for $1,000 ? Highly recommend.

I'd say the reason they are not listed as audiophile headphones is because they are not the best headphones that Focal makes. Those would be more likely called their audiophile headphones. If you need help choosing headphones, you can call an advisor on 1-800-324-9695 for a personal recommendation. My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=101 [ Paul Jan 16, 2017 ] Staff
