Performance and versatility
With heavy ferrite magnets and 4-layer voice coils, it's no surprise this sub handles plenty of power — up to 250 watts RMS. The good sensitivity rating means your amp won't have to work so hard to drive this sub, so you'll get maximum wallop per watt. The dual 4-ohm voice coils allow you to wire the sub for either 2-ohm or 8-ohm impedance, and you'll appreciate that versatility as your system grows and changes. You can install this sub in a sealed box for tight, punchy bass, or in a ported enclosure for a little more boom.

Features

Materials: The FOCAL P 25 DB features a polypropylene cone and butyl rubber surround to withstand the harsh automotive environment.

Dual 4Ω Voice Coils: The dual 4Ω voice coils offer wiring flexibility; when wired in parallel the woofer presents a 2Ω load, when wired in series the woofer presents an 8Ω load.

Spring-Posts: The P 25 DB uses spring-post speaker terminals for easy connection of single banana plugs or bare wire up to 10 gauge.

Rubber Gasket: The gasket/mounting-ring ensures better chassis damping and prevents air leakage. The rubber gasket is removable.

Sealed Box Volume: FOCAL recommends a sealed enclosure with a volume between 25 liters (0.88 cubic feet) and 45 liters (1.59 cubic feet).

Ported Box Volume: FOCAL recommends a ported enclosure with a volume between 35 liters (1.24 cubic feet) and 80 liters (2.82 cubic feet) using a single port tube (size in the table below):

Customer Q&A

Q
will a duel voice coil 4 ohm sub-woofer operate with just 4 ohms or do I have to wire it in parallel to operate the sub-woofer in 2 ohms?

A
So one kicker solo baric l7 and the px crunch 1000.2 amp won't work
[ David  Mar 07, 2019 ]  Staff
A
Ohms law. A single dual 4 ohm sub can only be wired to. 2 ohm. Or 8 ohm. You need a second sub to do a series parallel wire to get a 4 ohm load

Q
Can a dual voice coil 4 ohm, like this speaker is, be wired to 2 ohm wiring?

A
Yes
[ Robert Turner  Oct 24, 2016 ]  Staff
A
yes, you have to wire them in parallelled, not in series. overall resistance will drop to two ohms, just make sure you do not over power the speaker. 500 watts maximum at 2 ohms.
