About the Focal PS 165 SF

Step up to Slatefiber components
Step up to Slatefiber components
You can always count on Focal's dedication to innovation. From beryllium to flax, their research and development team search far and wide in the hunt for exceptional speaker materials. With Focal PS 165 SF 6-1/2" component system car speakers they've brought slatefiber into the fold. You can also find Slatefiber cones in high-performance home speakers like their floor-standing Chora Series. Made from non-woven, recycled carbon fibers and manufactured in France, the lightweight slatefiber cone offers exceptional rigidity and damping qualities to provide a dynamic yet balanced sound, especially in the midrange. Focal employs their famous inverted dome design for the separate tweeter to distribute high frequencies in a wide pattern for the most natural soundstage possible.
Adjustable crossovers
Focal includes high-quality external crossovers to ensure optimal performance by each driver in the set. Depending on your installation needs, you can mount these crossovers separately or physically linked together as one unit.
Serious power-handling
If you want to make the most of Focal's groundbreaking design, we suggest powering them with up to 80 watts RMS of aftermarket power. Because of their impressive sensitivity, these speakers will do quite well with factory power too.
And they look cool
The aluminum basket is reinforced with a streamlined "rotor" design that not only looks cool, but provides a non-resonant platform for the speaker's superior components. Plus, the unique blue color of the woofer cone is unlike any car speaker we've seen before.

Features
Woofer Surround: The butyl rubber surround is resistant to ultraviolet rays, temperature extremes, and humidity to add to the speaker's reliability and longevity.
Phase Plug: The bullet-shaped phase plug in the center of the woofer ensures a smooth, flat off-axis frequency response by preventing the high frequency sound waves emanating from one side of the cone from interfering with sound waves from the other side of the cone.
Size Classification Note: Some manufacturers, including Focal, call this size woofer a 6½". Because it requires a larger cutout than a standard 6½" speaker, Crutchfield has traditionally referred to this size woofer as a 6¾". Please enter your vehicle information to confirm fit.
Inverted Dome Tweeter: The tweeter is an inverted aluminum dome, producing a broad sound stage. The tweeter has a Neodymium magnet to provide a powerful magnetic field for the voice coil, while still maintaining the tweeter's compact dimensions.
Tweeter Mounting Options: The tweeters can be flush mounted or surface mounted. The included flush mount housing doubles as a low profile surface mount, and angled surface mount housings are included:
Flush Mount | Low Profile Surface Mount | Angled Surface Mount | |
Mounting Height | 0.3" | 0.965" | 2.125" |
Mounting Depth | 0.67" | (screw depth) | (screw depth) |

Width | N/A | 1.964" | 1.97" |
Surface Depth | N/A | 1.964" | 3.14" |
Crossovers: Individual crossovers are included for each woofer and each tweeter. The crossovers can be mounted separately, docked in pairs, or all four crossovers docked together and mounted as one unit. The crossover inputs and outputs are screw terminals and will accept bare wire or spade connectors up to 0.315" wide. Because the woofer and tweeter crossovers are separate, and have separate inputs, the system can be bi-amped. The woofer crossover slope is 6 dB/octave. The tweeter crossover slope is 12 dB/octave, and the tweeter output level has three settings, -3 dB, 0 dB, and +3 dB.
Crossover Dimensions:
- Length: 4"
- Height: 1¼"
- Width:
- Individual: 2"
- Pair: 4"
- All four: 8"

I got these Focal Slatefiber speakers for my 2022 Corolla and the co-axial set in the back doors. They are amazing! Great quality sound and they haven't even been broken it yet!! I have the JL Audio RD/900/5 Amp running them and an 8' Hifonics sub and they blend together great.
