Budget option for 9" screen

Installed in 2011 Honda CRV with idatalink RR for the steering wheel controls. Installing was extremely easy when using Crutchfield's pre-wired harness. Can't recommend that enough. I will say idatalink's firmware doesn't have this model yet, but I selected a similar Boss model and it worked fine. Had an issue with the idatalink triggering the backup camera but crutchfield's support guided me through the process of cutting the wire to trigger the backup cam on reverse. See my cons on the mic issue and how to work around.
Pros: Screen responsiveness feels just like iphone Affordable Wireless Carplay is amazing
Cons: Minor annoyance but the head unit's hands free mic won't work when the iPhone is powered through a separate USB adapter. This means if I want to charge my iPhone at 2.1 amps (through cigarette lighter) phone calls won't work until I unplug the iPhone and use wireless. It does work when the iPhone is plugged in to the head unit, which charges extremely slow (< 0.5 amps) GPS signal kinda weak with trees Freezes up sometimes Screen wobbles when car hits bumps

Loving my Boss Audio BECPA9W

Very easy install and the unit thus far has been great. The screen is very clear, but the graphics are a bit plain. If I could offer one suggest it would be to add soft buttons on the audio screen for your favorite stations. There is plenty of room and would be a welcome addition. It also work great with the backup camera I added at the same time. Tie wireless Bluetooth works seamlessly as well. Liking my Boss Overall a great alternative to some of the more expensive brands. Time will tell about long term, but so far I am very please.
Pros: Price point Flawless Android Auto Large clear screen A great option for vehicles without a true double din audio space.
Cons: Generic Audio layout.

Nice inexpensive CarPlay unit - display sticks out a bit far

I bought this unit to replace a smaller Boss Audio CarPlay receiver I had. The reason for the upgrade was I wanted a volume knob and wireless CarPlay, neither of which my previous unit had. The unit performs very well, works with my steering wheel controls, plays music from my iPhone flawlessly. Handsfree audio works amazingly well for calls. When I was away for work, a friend borrowed my car and called me from it. I was very impressed by the audio quality. Siri works very well. Downsides - there is a half a second lag between pressing the 'advance track' button on the display or steering wheel before the music advances to the next track. This is just latency from the wireless CarPlay connection and no big deal for me at all. The display is pretty bright at nighttime, even with the brightness turned all the way down to minimum, but again, not a huge deal. I wish it had internal crossovers for the front and rear speakers. It has a subwoofer amp with an adjustable low pass filter, but nothing for the other speakers, which is unfortunate. My biggest complaint is how far out the display is from the dash. It's absurdly far and I'm very positive the engineers could have pulled this in much closer, and still had it articulate. Or even remove the articulation. It looks ridiculous, but I'm more interested in the performance and value, which is just fine. This display, and the lack of crossover control are the reasons I rated this head unit 4 stars instead of 5
Pros: Wireless CarPlay, good value, good performance.
Cons: Display sticks out 4 inches from the dash, no speaker crossover / high pass filter control.

Great Potential, Inconsistant Results

It has great potential as a budget head unit, however Boss needs to release updates for it to be consistent. Install was smooth as could be but once I had it installed, several annoyances occurred. I ended up returning this unit and purchasing a Kenwood. The first issue I was dealing with was the unit not processing mic inputs. At times, the mic (calls and Siri) would work fine but then there were unfortunately more times that the mic would not work. The other issue was the external gps for wireless Carplay. Every morning it would struggle to pick up my current location. The little blue dot (current location) on the screen would be showing I was heading in a different direction vs where I was actually going. The odd thing about it was that when I would turn the truck off and start it again, it would usually fix itself. The next issue was with the SWC. I have a Mode/Input button on my wheel and 9/10 times, the button would not work. The final issue was that the unit froze up a couple times and the final time was for my whole 30 min commute home. On a side note, Crutchfield's tech support is 10/10! They worked with me on attempting to fix most of these issues, but I truly believe it comes down to firmware. I am giving it 3/5 because I do really think it has the potential to be a solid budget stereo with some firmware updates from Boss. I just wish they had ironed out most of them before the release.
Pros: Volume knob Big, bright screen
Cons: Inconsistant results
