Touchscreen, not shoestring

If you're looking for a new car stereo when you're on a budget, you may think a touchscreen receiver is out of reach. Boss's BV755B DVD receiver offers a pleasant counterpoint to your expectations. Its 6.2" display features easy-to-use controls for your sources, plus built-in Bluetooth® enables hands-free calling and wireless audio streaming from your smartphone. And even better — Boss backs up your investment with a 3-year warranty.

Bluetooth makes your drive better

With Bluetooth, you'll enjoy all the content on your smartphone — stored music, streaming services like Pandora and Spotify, podcasts, and audiobooks. Android™ or iPhone®, it's yours to enjoy through wireless streaming. Plus you can take and make calls while keeping your hands on the wheel — an awesome safety feature when you're making your daily commute. Boss built in a sensitive Bluetooth microphone for your calls, located on the receiver's faceplate for a simpler installation.

Video entertainment

When your car is parked, you can use 6.2" screen to view video content from DVDs, SD™ cards, or USB thumb drives. If you want to take your show on the road, connect video screens to the receiver's video outputs and keep your backseat passengers entertained. And with an optional rear-view camera (not included), you can use your new in-dash display to help back into those tight parking spots.

More ways to enjoy your music

Play music back from DVDs or CDs, or load up a USB drive or SD card with your digital music, plug them in and let them play for hours. Use the front auxiliary input to connect a portable player. For sound shaping, this Boss includes an 8-band EQ, and to get more impact out of your system, three sets of preamp outputs let you connect amplifiers to power your speakers.

Bluetooth note: Use of this receiver's Bluetooth features will depend upon your phone's Bluetooth capabilities. Learn more in our article explaining Bluetooth profiles.

I love this stereo! I installed it in my Wrangler, which has the Infinity speaker system, and it has blown me away. There was a slight wiring harness issue, but it may have been an operator error. Whatever the cause, Crutchfield sent out a new head unit and harness so I could get it fixed quickly and painlessly. Just send them back the other one. Ended up not even having to take the new head unit out of the box. Just replaced the harness and away I went! Thanks Crutchfield, you earned a customer for life.

Pros: Price, ease of installation, quality, excellent customer and tech services

Crutchfield provides a great kit everything I needed to install was included I bought this because it had a volume knob, my van does not have steering wheel controls and I don't want to be hunting for the small buttons on most stereos. The audio quality is a better than the factory radio especially in the bass range. Radio reception is a bit worse on distant stations but acceptable.Disc player starts quickly and sounds good, even has popup keypad to direct access files. Mic is built in so I didn't have to mount an external one. Streaming works well with my Galaxcy S7.The screen is bright and easy to read even in daytime with sunshine hitting the display only complaint is brightness just lowers with light on and does not adjust with rest of panel lamps. The interface is clear but a bit cumbersome to use. You have to press home then source to change source or continually press the source button, other stereos I've had had shortcuts for most used sources. Only reason not 5 stars is connector arrived with wire loose I had to push the pin out and solder the ground wire. Great stereo on a budget!

Pros: Real volume knob, Bright clear screen

Cons: Source selection cumbersome, Connector arrived with wire loose

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Just installed this unit in my daughter's 2004 Kia yesterday and am blown away by the features at that price point. I also connected a backup camera to it and wanted that and hands free calling for safety reasons. Previously I had mistakenly purchased a similar unit that didn't have Bluetooth but Crutchfield was extremely helpful in exchanging. I have another older vehicle that will most likely get the same unit.

    Pros:

    Cons:

Good for the price, but I wanted more.

I did like the features for the price point. However, sound quality, telephone issues, and the fact that it was constantly in standby caused me to return it.

    Pros: Price, features

Cons: Back let screen too bright, have to touch screen for 3sec every time to turn off. No full off. Sound quality was lacking.

    Bang for the buck

    2004 Chevrolet Suburban
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Maybe the best bang for the buck there is. A/V inputs galore. It was the least expensive head unit I could find with both an input for a backup camera and Bluetooth. 20 watts rms is over double of stock and matches well with more entry level speakers for a cost effective whole sound upgrade. It won't win any audio competitions but it's 100% better than a stock unit. I've only had it in for a few days but I'm happy.

Pros: Inexpensive. Backup cam input Good touch screen

Cons: Menus are slightly clunky to get through.

Just installed into my 1997 Lexus ES 300 and it's MUCH better that I'd expected! Will be used mainly for streaming music, the EQ gives me a lot more control than the old stock stereo. Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

So far this unit is a good value. One minor glitch when the audio cut out while playing a CD. It would not work again until we ejected and reinserted the CD. But this has not repeated and I'm hoping it won't. It paired with both our phones (iPhone and Android) quickly and easily and the hands free calling works well. When using the "phone call mode" for GPS directions from our phones the unit did not answer quickly enough so the first part of the directions was always cut off, something I've also experienced in factory radios in rental cars. Four stars for that, the CD glitch and the fact that it does not pull in radio stations as well as the factory unit. It's everything I expected for the price.

Pros: Price Easy to setup and use Price

Cons: FM tuner falls a little short Cuts off the beginning of GPS directions from your phone

I like the unit, but had to give a 3 because the CD stopped working during the first week. Crutchfield was great about it and sent a replacement. So far no issues with the new one and it has a great picture and great sound. Installation was relatively easy. Thought it was going to work with steering column controls out of box but it did not.

    Cons:

My wife loves this unit. I was a replacement for an older dvd player that went bad and would not play. She loves the ease of use of the bluetooth features and how easy it was to sync the phone to the unit. Me I just love the ease of installation into an older van that's 12 years old. I love the deep bass and the clarity. a full feature family mobile entertainment system.. great job Boss

    Pros: Easy Install

Cons: Price deceives you on the quality.

This radio lacks a ton of features that competitive brands offer. It will not play music files from a flash drive via USB. It's not Apple compatible. This thing has a mind of its own - it turns off in the middle of play. Video quality (back-up camera) colors are washed out, I've tried my camera with other receivers with much better results. Stay away from this one.

    Pros: Cant find any

Cons: Lacks a lot of features for the price Wont play music files from flash drive/USB Video colors are washed-out

Great product for a great price.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I had originally purchased a CarPlay Unit but decided that I didn't actually need it. I was looking for something inexpensive but still produced good sound and had some expandability. The install with the ready harness was super easy. I loved that I didn't need to route a microphone cable through my dash - this unit had a Bluetooth microphone built into the head unit. I also added SWC and they work perfectly. I'm able to control tracks, mode and volume from my steering wheel. I don't believe crutchfield shows this unit using SWC, but in fact it does. I also purchased an AV to HDMI adapter so I can screen mirror my phone to this display, which allows me to use Maps and Waze mirrored from my phone. I was skeptical at first because BOSS doesn't always receive the best reviews, but this unit serves it purpose for what I was looking for. I would have given it 5 stars if the USB port could be used for more than just charging my iPhone.

Pros: Great Sound Reliable Bloothtooth Steering Wheel Controls AV inputs Easy Setup.

Cons: USB does not support iPhone or iPod playback. Screen is a little dim in direct sunlight.

AV Input: The Boss BV755B features a rear-panel AV input which consists of a composite video jack and stereo RCA jacks for connecting an external portable audio/video source.

Dual Video Outputs: Dual composite video output jacks allow you to add external monitors, such as rear headrest monitors (sold separately). The video outputs can display a DVD, USB, SD, or AV-input video signal when its selected as the receiver's source, regardless if the vehicle's parking brake is engaged or not.

Rearview Camera Input: The BV755B features a composite video input for connection of a rear view camera (sold separately). This enables better visibility when backing up. When an optional rearview camera is connected to this unit, the rear view image is displayed on the integrated 6.2" LCD screen when your vehicle is placed in reverse gear (purple/white wire of the harness must be connected to the reverse light wire of vehicle). Automatic video switching takes approximately 1.5 second.

    Touchscreen & Remote Control

6.2" LCD Touchscreen: Boss BV755B DVD receiver features a fixed 6.2" widescreen touchscreen LCD monitor. The screen has a resolution of 800 RGB x 480 with 1,152,000 total pixels. This unit has touchscreen controls with interactive video graphics, making menu navigation easy.

    • Wallpaper/Backgrounds: You switch between 3 preset wallpaper or backgrounds.
    • 12/24 Hour Clock: You can set the unit to display a 12 or 24 hour clock. The clock is visible from any source.
Note: For safety reasons, you cannot view a video source on the built-in LCD screen as long as the vehicle is in motion. In order to display video, the light green wire of the hearness must be hardwired into the vehicle's parking brake light circuit, and the vehicle's parking brake must be engaged.

Hard-Key Controls: In addition to the unit's LCD touchscreen controls, the BV755B also features hard-key controls on the left edge of the screen, including a 3-way rotary audio control.

IR Remote: The Boss BV755B includes a 38-button IR remote control for complete wireless operation of the DVD receiver.
