Marine Gauge-Style Receiver
Marine Two-Way Speakers

Marine Gauge-Style Receiver

IPX6 Certified: The Boss Marine gauge-style receiver has been engineered and tested for use in the harsh marine environment. The marine digital media receiver features UV coating and PC board with conformal coating to prevent fading and protect against corrosion. It also features IPX6 waterproof certification, so it can hold up in the marine environment and withstand powerful splashes of water out on the ocean or lake. During testing, water is projected at all angles through a 12.5mm nozzle at a flow rate of 100 liters/min at a pressure of 100 kN/m2 for 3 minutes from a distance of 3 meters.

Note: This unit should not be submerged in water.

Gauge-Style Mount: The Boss Marine digital media receiver can fit in a boat's 3" gauge-style opening. If your boat does not already have a gauge-style opening, the marine digital media receiver requires a round 3" cutout in the bulkhead for inserting the chassis. The integrated protective gasket, supplied U-bracket, and included hardware secure the unit in place against the mounting surface. Receiver dimensions are as follows -

  • Chassis & Cutout: 3" (diameter) x 4.3125" (depth)
  • Front-Panel: 3.625" (diameter) x 0.8125" (depth)
Note: The receiver is round and does not include a mounting sleeve or ISO-mount screw holes to accommodate standard automotive installation.

Bluetooth Audio Streaming: Thanks to built-in Bluetooth 3.0, you can wirelessly stream stored music and music apps from your Bluetooth-enabled Apple iPod/iPhone/iPad, Android smartphone/tablet, or other Bluetooth source device to the Boss Marine gauge-style receiver. The unit offers Play/Pause & Previous/Next Track control (there is no song/artist info display).

Note: This unit does not offer support for Bluetooth hands-free phone communication.

USB-A Port: The Boss Marine gauge-style receiver is fitted with a rear-panel USB-A port attached to the rear-chassis via a 7" cable. The USB-A port allows you to plug in your USB mass storage class device, like a USB thumbdrive or portable digital audio player (up to 32GB) for playback of MP3/WMA music files (up to 65,000 songs). Your USB MSC device must be formatted in FAT 32. The unit offers Play/Pause & Previous/Next Track control (there is no song/artist info display). If your USB MSC device can be charged via USB, the unit's USB (5V/1A) port will charge your device while connected.

Note: The unit's USB port does not support Apple iPod/iPod/iPad, Android smartphones/tablets, HDDs, or USB hubs.

Aux Input: The Boss Marine gauge-style receiver is equipped with a rear-panel stereo RCA Aux input attached to rear-chassis via a 7" cable. The stereo RCA aux input allows you to connect an external audio device with a stereo RCA output. If you have a source device that has a 3.5mm output, then you will need a stereo RCA-to-minijack adapter (sold separately).

AM/FM + Weather Band Tuner: The Boss Marine gauge-style receiver features a built-in AM/FM tuner, plus a 7-channel NOAA weather band tuner. You can store up to 12 FM and 6 AM preset stations. You can also select between US or European tuning.

Note: A 41" marine dipole antenna is included.

MOSFET Amplifier: The Boss Marine gauge-style receiver is equipped with a MOSFET amplifier rated at 20W (RMS) x 4 channel / 60W (Peak) x 4 channel.

2V/4Ch Pre-Outs + Sub Control: The marine digital media receiver is fitted with a 2-volt front pre-out and a 2-volt rear/sub pre-out. When set to sub pre-out, you can adjust the sub's low-pass crossover (80/120/160Hz) and sub level control (0-12).

EQ: The marine digital media receiver offers 8 EQ Presets - Flat, Jazz, Pop, Classical, Rock, Techno, Vocal, and User. The User mode allows you to manually adjust the unit's Bass, Mid, and Treble. There is also an XBass (Bass Boost) feature that can be turned on or off.

LCD Screen: The Boss Marine gauge-style receiver features a front-panel LCD screen with bluish white illumination. The LCD screen indicates source input, AM/FM station number, and menu settings. This unit does not provide song/artist information.

Key Beep: The in-dash head unit provides an audible beep to confirm button operation. This function can be turned On or Off.

Marine Two-Way Speakers

Marine Dual Cone Speakers: The Boss MR6B speakers are designed and treated for use in the harsh marine environment. The marine dual cone speakers feature a cone woofer and cone tweeter. The speaker has a frequency response of 80Hz-20kHz and can handle up to 180-watts (max).

UV Resistant Basket & Grille: The integrated basket and grille are made of durable UV resistant plastic.

Mounting Dimensions:

  • Mounting Height: 0.875"
  • Mounting Depth: 2.25"
  • Cutout Diameter: 5.75"
  • Magnet Diameter: 3.695"
  • Frame/Grille Diameter: 7.5"
  • Number of Mounting Holes: 4 (spaced 4.75" apart)

Included Hardware: The speakers include stainless steel mounting screws and self-adhesive foam gaskets for a watertight fit.

Customer Q&A

Anyone hook up a Sirius onyx ez radio into the aux? I'm curious how it worked as it would then not tie up my phone. Thanks in advance.
[ Mari  May 01, 2021 ]
1 answer
The only potential issue we foresee is that the dock and play style satellite radio tuners are not marine grade. Other than that, the Onyx EZ should work well with the aux audio input on this receiver
[ Paul  May 29, 2021 ]  Staff
How many amps does this system draw?
[ Brittany  Apr 16, 2021 ]
1 answer
It has a 15A fuse.
[ Calvin  Apr 28, 2021 ]  Staff
Can I wire red switched hot to yellow constant hot ? If I just use one, I have no power.
[ Don  Apr 09, 2021 ]
1 answer
Yes. The constant feed (Positive) is to remember your stations. You can put them together you just have to remember to turn off the radio because it will have constant power and will not shut off automatically after you turn off your ignition. That's why they recommend it on the switched power.
[ FRANCO  Apr 09, 2021 ]
Can you offer guidance about how long this radio with both speakers can run with a single battery? For example a Deep cycle Marine battery with 1000 MCA & 165 Reserve capacity.
[ Kenneth  Dec 08, 2020 ]
1 answer
You might get around 2-3 hours of playback. Maybe longer depending on variables like volume level, etc... that adjust the amount of actual power being used.

Will this work in a 2021 Kawasaki Mule Pro MX?
[ John  Dec 07, 2020 ]
2 answers
It will work, you will just need to figure out where to put it. I have a Can-Am Maverick & needed to make a mounting plate to mount the head. Never found a good place to mount the speakers, so used a different set of speakers.
[ jim s  Dec 13, 2020 ]
It takes a 3 inch hole saw an a positive an negative wire hook up that's all so yes.
[ ROB  Dec 11, 2020 ]
I have a Tyrex Kawasaki side by side. Will this mount and where?
[ Kevin  Oct 05, 2020 ]
1 answer
We do not have vehicle specific research on these side x side's to offer any recommendations on where to install these electronics. It may be best to consult a local custom installer for this help
[ Paul  Oct 24, 2020 ]  Staff
do i need an amp for this?
[ Paxton  Oct 01, 2020 ]
1 answer
No, only if you want but mine sounds great as is. This a versatile setup, enjoy.
[ shawn  Oct 01, 2020 ]
Can I hook up an antenna?
[ Aday  Aug 02, 2020 ]

It comes with an antenna that works well.

Is everything waterproof?
[ Daniel  Apr 14, 2020 ]

[ John  Apr 15, 2020 ]
Water resistant not proof. It will withstand some splash if properly sealed into the dash but is not waterproof.
[ shawn  Apr 14, 2020 ]
We installed ours in a golf cart that stays out in the weather a couple of years ago. No problems so far.
[ Charles  Apr 14, 2020 ]
Can you turn off the display/screen while music continues to play? We'd like to be able to cruise in our boat at night, playing music without the bright light of the stereo on.
[ Saya  Mar 21, 2020 ]
1 answer
No, But it is not terribly bright either. In fact if the sun is shining directly on it, it's a little tough to see display
[ Todd  Mar 23, 2020 ]
The spaekers actually fit in a 5.5" cutout. a 6" cutout would be too large making the supplied speaker gasket unable to prevent moisture from getting behind the speaker. The speakers come packaged with a piece of cardboard with the correct size hole for the cutout. You can use this as a template to make your hole the perfect size. Why did someone say that the speakers require a 6.1" cutout?
[ patrick  Aug 31, 2018 ]
1 answer
I'm not sure where that came from, but I checked Boss' site and they list the diameter as 5.75" so we have updated our site to show that for now! Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We are getting one on hand to measure and will update the site with anything new found in a couple days. My Bio:

Can I connect a subwoofer and amp to this unit?
[ Bruce  Aug 07, 2017 ]
1 answer
You do have subwoofer rear and front line out connectors. Also aux in right and left and a 12V app remote out. Per wiring diagram. I would say yes. Yet I was impressed with the sound from 2-6-1/2 " speakers.
[ Edward  Aug 07, 2017 ]
Can this be easily installed for a golf cart as well? This form factor might be easier to use on a golf cart where a standard single-DIN radio may not fit.
[ Matt S  Jul 20, 2017 ]

Great radio installations are simple.
[ richard  Jul 22, 2017 ]
Check the hole dimensions and the mounting depth. I put it in a boat, it went in easy.
[ jc4wd  Jul 21, 2017 ]
Yes, that's exactly what I utilized and ran it to the single Boss bar speaker.
[ JEB  Jul 21, 2017 ]
will the receiver be ok exposed in the rain?
[ stan olson  Apr 20, 2017 ]

Thanks for your question. Yes, everything is marine rated for all weather. The water-resistant face panel and controls are made to resist sun, salt, and moisture. Hope this helps
