About the JVC CS-DR1700C

Alexander H.

Step up with components

How long have you been driving around listening to subpar factory speakers, or even blown speakers? JVC designed the CS-DR17100C component speaker system to be an affordable solution that provides a serious sonic upgrade. Built to weather the extreme temperatures of life in your car doors, the slim-profile 6-3/4" woofers offer strong audio performance with good power handling. Additionally, you can mount the separate tweeters up higher in your vehicle, giving you great stereo separation so you can enjoy your favorite songs like never before in your car.

Solid boost in sound quality

The system includes a lightweight yet durable carbon mica woofer that offers smooth, consistent performance, along with a 1" balanced dome polypropylene tweeter that'll increase your music's clarity. These speakers will give you a solid boost in sound quality when powered by your vehicle's radio, but they'll really shine when powered by an outboard amp. Grilles are included.

Product Research

Tweeters: The tweeters are PEI (Poly-Ether-Imide) balanced-domes; PEI is a polymer film that produces a wide soundstage for superior imaging. A semi-dome tweeter has a dome placed inside a cone. Balanced dome tweeters are semi-dome tweeters with equal reproduction area given the cone and dome portions of the tweeter.

Tweeter Mounting Options: The tweeters can be surface mounted without adding anything to their fixed housings. Brackets are also included to allow angled surface mounting (approximately 30°).

Tweeter Dimensions:

  Surface Mount Angled Surface Mount
Mounting Height 0.643" 1.47"
Mounting Depth 0.15" (minimum) 0.15" (minimum)
Frame Diameter 1.82" N/A
Cutout Diameter N/A N/A
Frame Width N/A 1.822"
Frame Depth N/A 1.860"

Tweeter Crossovers: The tweeter crossovers are wired in-line with the included speaker wire. The input end  is bare wire and the woofer end has female quick slides to connect to the woofer terminal. The 50" tweeter section of the wire is shorted to the woofer quick slides, and also has quick slides on the tweeter end, which plug into the wire attached to the tweeter.

Customer Q&A

4 questions already asked

Whatâ??s the inner depth of the speaker?
[ DAVID  Dec 14, 2021 ]
1 answer
I had downloaded the PDF from the KENWOOD site for these speakers. On the 2nd page, it shows 5.4mm (7/32") + 45mm (1-25/32") of overall depth. That adds up to 49.4mm or 2" and does not include the depth/thickness of the Kenwood grill. Mine are mounted behind the RAV4 grill that is part of the door upholstery.

Can thes take a small amplifier?
[ LAMONT  Dec 05, 2021 ]

They sure can work with an amp that outputs up to 55 watts RMS at 4 ohms!

Can I use the stock speaker wire for or do I need to buy some? Does it come with wires for the woofers?
[ JOSEPH  Oct 23, 2020 ]

This does come with a crossover that has built-in wiring that connects to the woofer, has a 50" long leg of wire to connect to the tweeter, and a 13.5' input leg. The input leg can be connected to the stock wiring for the times that works with the radio in the vehicle
[ JASON  Nov 21, 2020 ]  Staff
Yes you can use the factory or existing speaker wiring to connect, just be careful to watch the polarity and make it is consistent for each speaker in the system. You may need to adapt or splice the existing vehicle wiring to match the speaker terminals on the actual\speaker. I believe that these speakers come with a short or maybe long, wiring assembly with the correct speaker terminals installed. You then need to splice to your factory wiring as mentioned above. Good luck.
[ Dustin  Nov 19, 2020 ]
Yes you can use stock wires and mo wires for woofers
[ DOUG E  Nov 19, 2020 ]
Does it have dual voice coil?
[ Stephen  Jun 06, 2019 ]
3 answers
No, only one set of terminals on the woofer.
[ HECTOR JULIO  Dec 15, 2021 ]
No only single
