Built to rock, built to last

Great bass starts with great materials, so JVC built the CW-DR104 with a tough polypropylene cone to pump out the bass and a treated foam surround to keep things on track. The sub's newly-designed Graduated Pleat Damper distributes stress over a wider area for durability, while the 6-layer copper voice coil dissipates heat more efficiently to keep things bumping even in long, loud music sessions. The CW-DR104 works in sealed or ported enclosures, and will handle up to 300 watts RMS power (1300 watts peak power). Its 4-ohm impedance makes it a good match for most systems.

To drive this single subwoofer, we recommend a mono amplifier rated between 225 and 450 watts RMS at 4 ohms. For more information, please refer to our article on How to Match Subwoofers and Amplifiers.

Features

Terminals: The spring post terminals will accept pin connectors, single banana plugs (but not dual), and bare wire up to 8 gauge.

Sealed Box: JVC recommends a sealed enclosure with an internal volume between 0.45 and 0.9 ft³, with an ideal volume of 0.65 ft³. Sealed enclosures provide the most control over a woofer, will handle a lot of power, and provide accurate sonic reproduction, making them suitable to all types of music.

Ported Box Volume: The recommended ported box volume ranges from 0.6 ft³ to 0.9 ft³, with the ideal size being 0.8 ft³, using a slot port measuring 11¼" (W) x 1⅛" (H) x 15¾" (L).

Customer Q&A

Q
Crutchfield asked: Why did you buy this?
A
Full range of bass frequencies, and specs match my amp/box selection [ RON  Feb 15, 2019 ]

1 question already asked

Q
Would this be a good replacement for my Boston Acoustics Competitor 1000? It looks like the screw holes are in approximately the same location, and my goal would be to reuse my current sealed box. I just installed a Pioneer GM-D9605 amp as an upgrade to power my whole system. Would this also work well with that amp?

A
I don't have the exact dimensions of the Boston Acoustics Competitor 1000 but that JVC sub woofer would be a good match with the Pioneer 5-channel amp regarding power and impedance.
