So. Much. THUMP!

Crutchfield customer from MURRAY, UT on 1/28/2021

I wasn't sure what to expect here, but my girlfriend wanted bass without using any trunk space. I figured I'd give it a shot. I don't regret it for a second - this thing pounds harder than I think it has any right to. In her Subaru Impreza, we have to keep this thing dialed back to about 50% on the remote knob, or else it just drowns us in bass. Fit perfectly under the passenger seat, and its low power requirements don't dim the headlights no matter how hard we have it cranked up. Rock (my music) and Country (her music) have never sounded better. We do find ourselves fiddling with the remote knob daily as one song will sound perfect and then the next is too much bass (Smashing Pumpkins - 1979 and Deftones - My Own Summer are prime examples of songs that require dialing back a bit). This doesn't bother us much, though, and makes us glad the remote came with the unit. We are very pleased, and consider it money very well spent. Perfect addition to the upgraded head unit and Infinity speakers we put in the doors.

Pros: Better bass than we ever expected.

Cons: I really can't think of any.

JVC CW-DRA8 Going to try and keep this short, Easy to install, the 1st one died a few days after installation. I paid for technical support since it was the weekend and found out it was a hardware issue. Crutchfield sent a replacement but the UPS driver thought he would be cute and tossed it to front of the truck while I'm standing right in front of him. 2nd subwoofer developed a rattle. Crutchfield replaced it. Everything was great, I liked the performance of the unit and then the 3rd one stopped working. Will not get another JVC subwoofer. Honestly! Not buying another JVC product. Nothing against Crutchfield but after 3, I don't consider JVC to be a good product.

Pros: Easy installation

Cons: Poor quality

Great underseat sub at a great price

Just installed it in my 1992 Toyota Pickup SR5, and it's perfect. I switched out the dash speakers with Polk 4" that fit in the speaker boxes with easy modifications and a 5 1/4 Kicker speakers in the cab, but it was missing some base. After adding this little guy, I couldn't be happier. It compliments the system perfectly, adding a nice layer of base to my sound. Definitely recommend this if you're planning to upgrade your system without an amp and want to improve your system for everyone inside the vehicle. If you're looking to make the entire block rattle, then get something else.

Pros: Wired remote makes it easy to adjust and it doesn't overpower your sound system. Compliments my upgraded speakers perfectly, making listening to everything from classical rock to classical music enjoyable. I'm really happy with this purchase.

Cons: None. If you want your car to shake, then this and every other compact subwoofer will disappoint you.

I just finished installing this compact powered subwoofer and let me tell you it rocks! I've had some big systems in my time now I'm a little bit older and I just wanted to round out my stock system and this thing far surpassed my expectations. I tapped into the front speakers and mounted it under my driver's seat. Wow! Thanks crutchfield

Pros: I love how it comes with everything you need RCA's wiring harness etc. Sounds awesome!

Cons: None

This was perfect for my needs. I installed this in 2003 chevy extended cab. I had replaced the 4 door speakers (pioneer) and even installed the baffles but with the limited space in the doors bass was really lacking. I installed this under the rear seat and connected it to the pioneer head unit. The sound is know complete and I am satisfied. If you are looking to shake the windows of houses as you go down the road this 8" 150 watt system is not the unit for you, but if you want a great sound in your truck I think you will be satisfied. The JVC added to my system has way more power that I will ever need, but in saying that I was young once and too much was never enough, so basically it is what you are after.

Installation is easy and is compact to fit under seat in a Kia Soul. But the bass performance is not the greatest. If you are looking to complete the sound of your audio system this will be but only a snack to your cravings. Would have liked the phase and frequency to be located on box itself, so the remote can be discreetly located.

High Quality construction, and super easy install. I painted the silver parts to keep it low key in the back of my 2020 Jeep JL, where it fits perfectly behind the back seat on the wheel well. The wiring is super simple and there is plenty of it.

Pros: Plenty of power and nice aluminum housing.

Cons: The wiring is split with push on connectors to make easy tie-ins to the speaker wires, but they don't provide the connectors to crimp onto the vehicle wiring.

Such a great sub, this is the second one I bought from Crutchfield in a month. Easy to install, sounds great, especially next to the first one I bought!

Pros: Quick, easy setup. User friendly controls. Nice compact size fits under my front seats. Pounds away with the base.

Cons: I don't have enough space for more of them in my small car.

Sounds good. Compact and weighty. Very good instructions with everything needed for install included. The remote has phase and frequency cutoff adjustments as well as volume, letting you adjust for each song/genre at will. I will probably buy a second one for my other car. Can be a little boomy if you expect to never adjust the volume. On some types of music, like metal, it can sound a little flat, one toned, but it helps to adjust it so you get a little tonal help from the other speakers.

Pros: Great price for the performance and size. Fits nicely under most seats. Well featured remote included. Lots of power. Sounds better than I expected.

Cons: Remote is wired, which can limit mounting options. Sound can be a little boomy and lacking detail under some circumstances.

MY SOUND SYSTEM IS COMPLETE!!!! If you're on the fence about whether or not you need this over just upgrading your aftermarket speakers... go ahead and add this to the shopping cart. Wish I would have four years ago. Now I just can't stop grinning while I'm driving. It hits so well and complements my component speakers in front. Turned it up to the point where my audiologist mother would shudder but there was no distortion in the sub. Installed to aftermarket head unit via RCA cables. Hardest part was finding a port to run the power cable thru the firewall. Fit right under the driver seat. (2011 Rav4) Easy to dial in. Well...gonna go find an excuse to go sit in the garage for a little bit longer.

Pros: Easy install. Smart remote design with no need to tune anything under the seat.

Mini JVC Sub Packs a Punch

I installed the CW -DRA* sub under the drivers seat in my 2008 Tacoma. It was easy to install. Routing power feed around clutch pedal was hardest part. In an automatic it would be cake. The amp contained all hardware except patch cable to my head unit. The low end improved sound in my Tacoma. Low end road noise is gone, and sound is full. Waited years for a small sub to fit in my Access cab.

Pros: Small size fits in tight space.

This is a terrific speaker. Plenty of bass for my 36' Ford pickup. Installed behind a seat. Wiring hookup was very easy, even for a novice.

Pros: Great sound from a small unit. Easy install. Remote control is very handy.

Cons: Only negative thing is the packing by Crutchfield. Box was coming apart from poor taping and there was no cushioning material used. However both boxes were undamaged and both items work just fine.

Great solution when you need bottom end and don't have lots of space. This along with a standard system rounds out my vintage cars audio nicely. Highly recommend. I built mine into a cover where the spare tire goes. It's light enough to suspend and lave the floor flat. The controller is an added plus to fine-tune the frequency on the fly.

Pros: Size, all in one package, easy to install

Bolted this behind the rear seats of my truck and it rocks the entire cab, most people are surprised by how small it is. I don't even use it turned up all the way. Don't expect it to work the same in bigger cabs or in a trunk. You need the right size sub for the area and this is great for mid size trucks

JVCKenwoods bass space saver

Crutchfield customer from Bedford, VA on 2/19/2020

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Operates exactly as JVC says. Easy to install. As an addition to a factory stereo it adds just the right amount of bass to let you hear some of the lows you were missing. Do not expect a mirror shaking rumble or super low frequencies. Works great and for the size I am impressed. If you push it too hard it will cut off to protect it. Just turn down gain as low as it can go and it will fire back up after it cools a few minutes. I absolutely love it. Just wanted a little more bass for my factory Nissan system and it surely did and well. Bought another one for my other vehicle!

Pros: Small Easy to install Great addition to any system that doesn't want giant sub boxes and overpowering bass.

Cons: None that I have Not for one who wants super low frequency bass or ear splitting bass

Very under powered and does not produce a lot of bass; even for an 8" powered sub. The sound is clean but this should be called a powered mid and not a powered sub. I do not recommend this sub at all.

Cons: Very little bass. Should be called a powered MID and not a powered SUB.

This thing is amazing for the size and price. It's not a bowel-shaker, but it's invisible, easy to wire to a factory system, and comes with everything you need to install it. I bought a new Subaru Outback and the stereo was super weak, this thing alone made it far better. If you have reasonable expectations you will not be disappointed.

Pros: Small Everything you need in the box

Pretty good for a 8" sub

Jon from Springdale, AR on 4/30/2018

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

So far so good! Installed this replacing an existing powered sub. It comes with its own wiring harness in which you have to add some adapters to, but other than that, installed in 10 minutes. Sound is very good for it being a 8inch sub. Doesn't go as low as the 12's in my car but sounds great in the truck application. I'll update if anything happens in the near future. So far happy with this product!

Pros: Comes with everything you need to wire it up. Won't have to buy the wiring kit. Great sound for an 8" sub.

Cons: Had to adapt to existing wiring, no big deal though.
