Our take on the JVC KD-X220

If you carry all your music on your phone or other portable device, JVC's KD-X220 digital media receiver offers plenty of connections for all your devices, along with an impressive array of features for its price range. Since the receiver does not house a CD player, its "short body" design means it can fit into a wide variety of cars and trucks, not to mention vehicles like certain golf carts and ATVs.

A real digital dynamo

If you carry all your music on your phone or other portable device, JVC's KD-X220 digital media receiver offers plenty of connections for all your devices, along with an impressive array of features for its price range. Since the receiver does not house a CD player, its "short body" design means it can fit into a wide variety of cars and trucks, not to mention vehicles like certain golf carts and ATVs.

This digital media receiver works with your smartphone

Ready for your iPod® or iPhone®

Once you plug your iPod or iPhone into the front USB port, you'll enjoy complete control over your music, not to mention faster charging. If you're a Pandora® or iHeartRadio user, you can connect your iPhone and access basic functions like "play," "pause," "thumbs-up," and "thumbs-down" with the receiver's controls.

Great for Android phones, too

When you download the free JVC Smart Music Control app, you can use the receiver's controls to access playlists on your Android phone, plus use your phone as a remote control to run the receiver. List and search stored MP3 music by artist or album, or let the JVC Playlist Creator analyze your songs and create a mix just for you.

Do more with your USB connection

The powerful USB 1A port lets you keep a smartphone charged while it's performing many battery-draining tasks at once. With your smartphone connected, you can use Drive Change Mode to listen to the internal memory as one source and access its little microSD card as another. You can also make a mix at home, save it to a thumb drive, and plug it into the USB port. The KD-X220 plays MP3, WMA, WAV, AAC, and FLAC files, all of which will sound great running through the 24-bit digital audio converter (DAC).

The start of a whole new system

If you're planning to expand your car audio system in the future, the KD-X220 is a terrific place to start. It includes rear 2.5-volt preamp outputs that you can switch over to subwoofer mode. A front aux input lets you hook up other gear, like a Dock & Play satellite radio.

Want to keep your steering wheel controls?

In most cars, you'll need an adapter to retain those controls with this car stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and radio, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls. You'll see the adapters that work with your vehicle when you add this receiver to your cart.

Note: This digital media receiver will not play CDs. If you want to play CDs in your vehicle, we offer a wide selection of CD receivers.

iPod/smartphone note: If you're going to use your iPod or smartphone with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for compatibility information.

Simple to use, very good FM reception. AM leaves a lot to be desired, such as the case for most car receivers today. It didn't last all that long though, but what you expect from such a cheap product?

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this product about 3 weeks ago for my 05 Civic LX. Took about 1.5 hrs to install. The mastersheet instructions from CF were good but I also viewed some U-Tube videos to get a better understanding of the project. Make sure to use the plastic trim removal tools for prying the Honda dash apart. Take your time to avoid breaking anything. For the wiring harness connection I used the wire nuts from Posi Products which are sold by CF. Sound is good and the USB feature for my iPhone works great. The teenagers in the family love it. They can listen and charge their phones at the same time. All in all good receiver and not very hard to install. Good value for the price.

Pros: basic operation with USB interface.

Cons: the volume knob seems a little loose and has a cheap feel but works fine. For the price I'm good with it.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Not impressed at all. Clock doesn't display without fumbling with the little buttons. Part of the radio displays blue and can't be changed. The display can be changed. Doesn't make sense. Control knob is smooth and difficult to turn. Radio is not very good. If you are over 10 miles from the tower reception is poor. I am sending it back for something different. Crutchfield has been great. The radio isn't.

    Pros: Good sound

    Cons: Too many to list.

Cons: Screen is kind of cheesy and buttons are small but otherwise worth it.

    great fit for 1995 Escort

    1995 Ford Escort LX
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

GREAT radio!. Fits perfectly in my 1995 Ford Escort LX wagon. 30 minutes from start to finish, and I haven't installed a radio in years. They give you the harnesses you need to hook factory wiring up to this radio's wiring, but they do not give you the crimp connectors to splice the two harnesses together. I had some, but suggest you buy about 20 before you start this project.

Pros: Easy as pie, works great, and the FM radio signal is far stronger than any other radio I have had. I get FM station from towns that I barely got on rainy days before.

Cons: They give you all the harnesses you need but no crimp connectors to splice them together. Not a big deal, but would be nice if they were included.

Exactly what I was looking for in my truck!

    2001 Ford Ranger
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I just installed this radio in a 2001 Ranger with four Kicker 6x9's and it is a whole new driving experience! Not only does it push my speakers harder than the stock radio, but it includes every feature I was looking for; a front-facing auxiliary and usb mean I get to play all of my own music or rock Pandora anytime. The faceplate is not too bright at night but can still be dimmed if you'd like. It will display song and artist title when listening to the radio which is awesome. It can also be set to a 24 hour clock for all you other military folks as a nice little bonus. It does have preset equalizers and two custom settings you can mess with to get the sound that works for your setup. At this cheap of a price, this radio is a no-brainer for anyone looking to upgrade and isn't stuck in the 90's carrying around fifty cd's!

Pros: Cheap, good quality, easy install(no CD player makes it small and crazy light), aux and usb are a must, and all the little features and settings you can change.

Cons: I guess you could say no CD player, but it makes the unit smaller and easy to install and it includes a USB port so you could join us in the 21st century and transfer your music to your phone or a thumb drive and stop carrying a 20lb book of discs!

    Very good deal

great stereo for the price. This was my first time using Crutchfield and the database of instructions and recommended face plate and wiring harness made the install a breeze. Took about an hour.

Pros: Great sound and not too difficult set up.

Cons: Cannot think of a con for a radio for this price.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed this in my 2008 Ford Ranger work truck to replace the stock AM/FM. The unit installed easily with the required adaptor and wiring harness and works great! The only complaint I would have, and this is very minor, is that when it is in AUX-iPod/iPhone mode, if the music player isn't connected to the USB cable, the unit perpetually displays "No USB" and won't show the clock until you plug in the music player or change the source to radio. Again, super minor complaint, and over all I love the unit!

I needed a new receiver for my wife's car. I found this unit at at a great price point. They recommended all the parts I would need, and instructions as to how to install the receiver. From start to finish the install took 1.5 hours, and was super easy. My wife is now rolling happy.

Pros: Great Sound. USB port for a thumb drive or my daughter's iPhone.

Cons: Getting around the menu is a little difficult right off the bat, but once you familiarize yourself with it, it's not to bad.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Outstanding sound , given using factory upgrade speakers. Was pretty easy to install with harness kit. Tapcon wire connectors are the best thing since sliced bread too, have used them on other projects. Does take a bit of a learning curve to use, but gets by fine with basics, only use the car occasionally. Does look good installed with minor gap around faceplate in my car. Like that it has face dimmer so not to blind at night. Not into blingy lighting, looks okay though. Awfully light in weight, seems it should hold up okay over time for us.

Pros: Easy to install, make sure to get proper harnesses and tapcon connectors . Sounds great, looks and fits good, price was right, customer service is great too .

Cons: Figuring out how to use it !

    Exactly what I needed

    Marc from California on 7/24/2015

    1998 Honda Civic
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

What I wanted: A simple no frills deck with the ability to play iPhone music and podcasts in an older car but at a good cost. What I got: Exactly what I needed. With a stock stereo it was possible to get an iPod-iPhone adapter, but that would have cost well over $100 and with this deck I got everything I needed and a better interface for cheaper. The awesome Crutchfield install manual helped me install it relatively quickly as well. The volume knob is a tad wobbly but still works just fine. And I could do without the white bar light next to the USB port, but these are minor issues. Everything else works and sound great.

Pros: Simple look and quite usable. Pulls in FM data to label stations and songs. Pretty good iPhone head mode to control iPhone and select songs, playlists, etc.

Cons: White bar light next to USB port is always on and is distracting. Volume knob is a little bit wobbly, but works just fine.

The usb input is great, I just loaded all my music on one stick and use shuffle and repeat functions. I use my cell phone for GPS, using the USB cable I can listen to music and hear my directions flawlessly.

    2001 Jeep Wrangler
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I give it 5 stars is because it is expected to be a lower end model and is exactly what I wanted for my Jeep. If it gets stolen, I'm not out much and it does all the features I want. After installing it, I plugged in an Iphone and it worked great, used a flash drive with music on it, work great, plugged in a headphone plug and it worked great. Tuned in FM stations, great. The navigation is a little tough to get things set up, but by using the directions (keep them in the car) you can get it done. I recommend the unit.

Pros: Cost Effective Shows the clock

Cons: Set up on the screen takes some getting used to.

    Garland from N, Dinwiddie,Virginia on 6/19/2015

installed in a 94 3/4 ton chevy truck. 6/19/15 After stock radio stopped working, I opted for what could take a bit of a rough ride , good sound and USB /mp3 friendly (heavy trucks beat CDs to death). I took a drive to the Charlottesville, VA. Crutchfield store. After meeting the salesperson , he looked at what I was looking for and thought this JVC unit would suit my needs. It does. About 45 min. from box to truck Hand crimped and zip tied harness , wires hidden in the dash so not to bounce loose.

Pros: With the install kit, plug to stock harness wires match the radios wires colors, so crimping up takes just a few min. Powered up perfect, sounds great with my stock speakers. Easy to read display, with brightness control (does not blind or distract, you . ) With no CD , you are not tempted to try that disk that you know will get scratched bouncing around in the radio. Store music on a thumb drive and save your disks as masters.

Cons: Good grief ,the manual that comes with radio has really small writing . mmmmm bout all I can think of.

For the money, this is a good head unit, especially with having both the USB/AUX input. The only annoyance was the latency of the menus and slightly confusing controls. The remote could look a little cooler too. Other than that it was well worth the money.

It gets the job done. The navigation is easy to understand and works perfectly with my iPod, iPhone, and Andriod (I have two phones for personal use and business). The setup was easy and within minutes I was ready. It has a lot of preset EQ settings so I have stuck to that. I also got the bluetooth add on and would suggest that. Very happy with my purchase.

Pros: Cost, ease of use, style

Cons: Bluetooth add-on takes up the aux port so you have to use USB. Not a big deal but something to think about.

    2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a really simple set up. Had to turn off the horrible loud beep noise that would happen at each button click (which was easy to do with a quick reference to the manual). Love that we can plug in our phone with USB and skip songs using the stereo. This is most valuable because I bought the steering wheel set up with this, so we can skip songs and adjust volume etc using the steering wheel. Looks cool in my opinion, doesn't look cheapo even though it was a cheaper option. You can even have pandora hooked up and thumbs up/down songs, bookmark them for later, etc. My only complaint is that the lowest volume level is kind of loud...with our stock stereo we could quickly adjust volume low enough to talk over and have a brief conversation with the music in the background. Now even though we are right next to each other in front seats, we have to turn it down to zero. Volume 1 level is too loud. For us that's a significant bummer (first world problems), but everything else is great!

Pros: Easy, simple, nice features for our iPhones.

Cons: Lowest volume level isn't very low.

    Good inexpensive radio

    2012 Chevrolet Sonic
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a good low cost replacement for a stock radio especially if you don't use CDs. Setup is not intuitivie so hang on to the instruction manual. The unit is small which meant that I had room for the wiring adapter without having to cram the connectors into the dash.Once it was in it sounded great and gave me the ability to directly connect both an iPod or an Android device. I would have liked an HD receiver, but we probably won't use the FM tuner much anyway.

Pros: Good quality. Low cost. Connects to both IPods and Android devices.

Cons: User interface is not intuitive. No HD radio. I would really like to have the colors names labeled on the wiring diagram. I had problems matching up the colors on the diagram with the wires on the adapter but I have trouble with color vision. Everything still worked well in the end though, I just needed to ask someone else to check my work.

    Low cost, fantastic quality!

This product is a great stereo for the price point. It works well with android and apple devices, and you can even use the radio buttons to control anything playing of your phone (skip tracks, etc). It gets to a pretty loud volume without an amp. Overall good bang for your buck.

Pros: Easy to use Works well with mobiles Good volume inexpensive

It was really easy to install and use. Actually the hardest part was removing the face panel in my Explorer.

Pros: Easy to install and use. Sounds great. Great value for cost.

Cons: It's not really a "con" but, with the red display I see a red-light out of the corner of my eye and think there's a warning light on or something wrong with my truck. I'm getting used to it now.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is in my opinion one of the best overall well rounded receivers that is high performance, very easy to use, and affordable. This unit is like one of those things where you pay low amount but get high quality product. It has absolutely everything u will ever need nowadays. Shiny look and red illumanitaion will make your friends go "wow". I was very surprised by the power of its amp. Now I have 4 kicker speakers installed and it powers them like a champ with its amp.

Pros: Nice looks, affordable cost, powerful amplifier, many different options, diverse professional equalizer, and many more...

Cons: The beep when you skip a song or press any button and that's it, but I think u can turn it off if you dive deep into settings.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought the JVC KD-X220 to replace my factory stereo in my 1995 BMW 325i. Was looking for something inexpensive that had orange lighting that was iPhone ready, and this one met all my requirements. What I also got was a stereo was a stereo that was easy to install, sounded great and looked like it belonged in the dash. For the price you really can't beat this unit . What this unit doesn't have is a CD player but with being iPhone and Android Phone ready, USB, Pandora and iHeart Radio, who needs it. Great Value!

Pros: iPhone and Android Phone ready, USB, Pandora and iHeart Radio.

Cons: None really, great unit for the price.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Considering the cost, it is only fair to review this receiver relative to cost. I purchased this for my mothers car which was having issues with a power draw from the factory amp. She didn't want to spend a lot of money and had no reason for CD player so this was a easy option. The depth of this receiver is shorter than a normal single din cd player, which was nice as this vehicle had limited space as it is. Operation was a bit clumsy though. The interface was not super intuitive and it seems to have a marquee pop up advertising it's features, which I must admit, is really weird.

    Pros: Cheap

    Cons: Clumsy interface

What a great budget upgrade unit! This was purchased to upgrade an 1998 Honda CRV. As with all Crutchfield products the instructions and kits were perfect. Ignoring my own lack of install skill the unit went in easy. iPod integration is perfect. It plays any media source over the USB once you change the mode to "IPOD MODE" (pressing the 6 button). My wife is streaming Google Play Music with no issues now. If the radio stations in your area support sending additional information this radio will pick that up as well. I was not expecting it to tell me the song that was playing.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed this unit in a 98 Volvo wagon. Prepped the wiring harness in about 5 minutes, the instructions were clear and helpful. Actual headunit and double DIN kit from start to finish took about 3 minutes. Doesn't get any easier. For the money, this unit is great. It sounds as great as my old but functional speakers will allow, the controls are logical, and the iPod and Pandora functions work seamlessly with my iPhone 6 and my wifes iPhone 5. The front USB port is great, and also charges our devices. The remote i can't really review, because we wont use it. I honestly don't understand why these come with a remote, but maybe someone else uses it. The controls are simple, and the knob is very easy to use without looking down. All in all a great unit if your music is all digital or cloud based.

Pros: Simple, Clean. USB and Aux front ports iPhone 6 compatability with Pandora Controls Lightweight due to no CD drive

Cons: None that i can think of. Does exactly what you'd expect from a simple unit. I'm sure it has more capability than i'll ever use for my commute/driving around town.

This receiver is an incredible product for the price, good clean power (200W), IPOD Iphone control, lots of features, wireless remote included. You just cant beat the value. Mix it with even some low end aftermarkets speakers and you will have a nice sounding system for very little money. Throw in Crutchfield's install kits and in less than 2 hours I had a new head unit and four door speakers installed on my truck. Very happy with my purchase.

Pros: Lots of features. Good power (200w). Ipod control. Actual volume knob instead of push buttons (sometimes old tech is better).

Cons: Almost too many features for an old guy like me.

iPhone Direct Connection: The JVC KD-X220's front-panel USB port can be used to connect your Lightning-connector or 30-pin dock connector iPod/iPhone to the head unit. Simply use the cable that came with your iPod/iPhone device or a 3rd party Apple certified cable (sold separately). The KD-X220 supports audio playback, music navigation, information display, and charging of your compatible Apple device.

    • Audio Playback w/ DAC Bypass: The USB connection allows your iPod/iPhone's stored music and music apps to be loaded instantly to the head unit and sound quality to be maximized through the head unit's 24-bit D/A converter, allowing for a Signal to Noise ratio up to 105dB. The JVC head unit supports audio playback of stored music, music apps, and podcasts on your iPod or iPhone.
    • Control Modes: The JVC KD-X220 offers two control modes for iPod/iPhone audio playback.
      • Head Unit Control: From the head unit's front-panel controls you can search for stored music by Playlist, Artist, Album, Song, Podcast, Genre, and Composer. The contents of a Playlist or Category can be searched alphabetically (A-Z) or numerically (0-9). The KD-X220 also supports Repeat (file/all) and Random (album/all) playback functions of stored music on your iPod/iPhone. In addition, you'll be able to control basic playback functions (such as Play/Pause, Previous/Next Track) from stored music and select music apps streamed to your iPhone. Newer iPod/iPhones with iOS 6.0+ allow you to continue to access your Apple device's touchscreen in this mode in order to access other applications; older iPod/iPhone devices will be locked during connection.
      • iPod/iPhone Control: The iPod/iPhone Mode lets you control your older iPod/iPhone (iOS 5.1.1 and earlier) from its clickwheel or touchscreen. You'll still have access to basic playback controls (like Play/Pause & Previous/Next Track) from the head unit, but advanced navigation functions will be locked.
    • Song/Artist Info: During Head Unit Mode, the KD-X220 will display your iPod/iPhone's music file information such as Track number, Elapsed playing time, Artist name, Song title, and Album title. No song/artist information is displayed in iPod/iPhone mode; the unit will simply display "iPod/iPhone Mode".
    • Charging: The head unit's USB connection provides 1A of current to power and charge your connected iPod/iPhone when your vehicle's ignition switch is set to the 'ACC' or 'On' position (if your iPod/iPhone has no initial battery charge, then the unit will not recognize it).

iPod Compatibility Chart: The JVC KD-X220 is "Made for iPod/iPhone" compatible and supports the following iPod/iPhone model features (as of 1/8/2015):

Android Connectivity: The JVC KD-X220's front-panel USB port also lets you connect your Android smartphone for music playback. JVC does not guarantee operation with all Android devices. There are 4 type of connection methods based on your type of Android smartphone, what content you want to listen to, and how you want to control it.

    • Newer Android Smartphones (OS 4.1+):
      • Android Open Accessory 2.0 (AOA 2.0): The JVC KD-X220 supports Android Open Accessory 2.0 (AOA 2.0), which lets  you connect your Android  (OS 4.1+) smartphone to the KD-X220's front-panel USB port and listen to stored music and music apps from your Android device through the JVC head unit. You'll be able to control basic playback functions such as Play/Pause and Previous/Next Track. Other advanced music navigation will still be done from your Android smartphone's touchscreen. In this mode, the head unit will not display song/artist information; only "Audio Mode" will show up on display. You'll continue to view song/artist information from the Android device's touchscreen. You'll also still be able to access other functions and applications from your Android smartphone's touchscreen, while listening to music through the head unit. If you make a call or answer a call from your smartphone while listening to music in this mode, the music will pause until you are finished with the call and then start back up again.
      • JVC Music Play App: Downloading the JVC Music Play app onto your Android (OS 4.1+) smartphone not only allows you to listen to stored music from your Android device through the JVC digital media receiver connected via USB, but it also lets you browse your Android smartphone's music library from the head unit's front-panel controls. You can browse your store music library by Playlist, Artist, Song, Album, or Genre. You can also control Play/Pause and Previous/Next track from the head unit. In addition, the head unit will display song/artist information. You can exit the JVC Music Play app to access other functions and applications of your Android smartphone, while your stored music library is still playing through your head unit. If you make a call or answer a call from your smartphone while listening to music in this mode, the music will pause until you are finished with the call and then start back up again.
    • Older Android Smartphones (Froyo 2.2 or Gingerbread 2.3):
      • Mass Storage Class (MSC): If you own an older Android smartphone which is running the Froyo 2.2 or Gingerbread 2.3 operating system, then the JVC KD-X220 head unit will recognize your USB-connected Android device as a USB mass storage class (MSC) device, similar to a USB thumbdrive. You'll be able to scroll through music folders and music files, as well as operate basic playback like Play/Pause and Previous/Next Track from the head unit's front-panel controls; advanced music navigation is not supported. The head unit will also display song/artist information in this mode. You cannot access music apps in this mode.
      • JVC Music Control App: By downloading the free JVC Music Control onto your older Android smartphone (Froyo 2.2/Gingerbread 2.3), you'll be able to browse your stored music by artist name or album name. The JVC Music Control app also analyzes all of your songs that are in your Android smartphone, and creates a playlist according to your mood. Once the application has completed the analysis of the songs, simply select your current mood, and this application will generate a list of songs that best fits your mood. You cannot access music apps in this mode.
Note: The head unit's USB connection provides 1A of current to power and charge your connected Android smartphone when your vehicle's ignition switch is set to the 'ACC' or 'On' position (if your Android device has no initial battery charge, then the unit will not recognize it).

    Audio Section

24 Bit D/A Converter: The JVC KD-X220 utilizes a 24-bit digital to analog converter for superior sound quality.

MOSFET Amplifier: The JVC KD-X220 is equipped with a MOSFET amplifier. Compared to conventional power supplies, the MOSFET amplification circuit is smaller and more efficient, and it delivers increased power with less distortion and absolutely zero on/off switching noise. More power means louder and cleaner music at higher volumes because you're not pushing the limits of the amplification circuit. The power output specs for the KD-X220 are as follows:

    • Full Bandwidth Power: 22 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 20-20kHz, 1% THD)
    • Maximum Output Power: 50 watts x 4 channels (200 total watts)
Note: When you are using the KD-X220 with factory speakers (or those rated to less than 50 watts peak), the Amplifier Gain Control can limit the amount of power being sent to those speakers. When the Amp Gain Control is set to "low," the volume control ranges from 0 (minimum) to 30 (maximum). When using speakers rated higher than 50 watts peak, you can set the Amp Gain Control to "high," and the volume control will range from 0 to 50.

2.5V/2CH Preouts: The KD-X220 is equipped with two 2.5V preouts (Rear/SW). You can set the Rear/SW preamp outputs for connecting a pair of full-range rear speakers (through an external amplifier) or for connecting a subwoofer (through an external amplifier). When set for rear speakers, the rear outputs operate with the unit's fader control. When set for subwoofer, the outputs are non-fading.

Subwoofer Controls: When the unit's Rear/SW preamp output is set to Subwoofer, you can set the cutoff frequency of the low-pass filter at 55Hz, 85Hz, or 120Hz. You can adjust the head unit's subwoofer level between -8 and +8 (separate from the main volume level).

Pro EQ: The KD-X220 is equipped with JVC's Pro EQ. The integrated equalizer offers 12 preset sound modes (Flat, Hard Rock, Jazz, Pop, R&B, Talk, Vocal Boost, Bass Boost, Classical, Dance, User 1, or User 2) suitable for the music genre of your choice. The User modes allow you to manually adjust the head unit's 3-band parametric EQ (Frequency, Level, and Q-Factor).

    Pro EQ
    Frequency Level Q
    Bass 60, 80, 100, 200 Hz +/- 12 dB (-6 to +6) 1.0, 1.25, 1.5, 2.0
    Midrange 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.5 kHz +/- 12 dB (-6 to +6) 0.75, 1.0, 1.25
    Treble 10.0, 12.5, 15.0, 17.5 kHz +/- 12 dB (-6 to +6) Fixed
Note: You can store Pro EQ bass, middle and treble tone settings for each source (AM/FM, Aux, USB, iPod, Android, Pandora/iHeart Radio).

Sound Enhancements: The head unit provides further sound enhancements for your car audio system.

    • Digital Track Expander: The digital Track Expander automatically enhances compressed music files and restores the original richness of the recording.
    • Bass Boost: The unit's Bass Boost enhances low bass frequencies.
    • Loud (Loudness): This feature boosts low and high frequencies to produce a well-balanced sound at a low volume level. You can set this feature to High, Low, or Off.
    • Volume Adjust: The input level of each source (other than FM) is adjustable relative to the FM radio volume, so there isn't a significant volume difference when changing sources. Each source is individually adjustable from -5 to +5.

Key Beep: The in-dash head unit provides an audible beep to confirm button operation. This function can be turned On or Off.

I purchased this Radio earlier this year, it is pretty great, but I am almost positive( or haven't figured it out yet) that the color does not change from red.
