I replaced the stock radio on my 1999 Ford Ranger. Night and day experience. I went from a cassette deck to usb and bluetooth and it sounds great.

Pros: Bluetooth, pandora are the 2, I use the most.

Cons: Volume knob a little sensitive on a truck bouncing on a city street in NYC.

Does what I need it to do in an old Lexus. Very easy installation and Crutchfield as usual makes it easy with the various adapters and instructions. Needed to replace a dying OEM radio and this was perfect. Plus it gives me Bluetooth for my phone and a USB connection for a music hard drive or flash drive to play FLACs, which was another plus.

Pros: Affordable and has several useful features.

This was my first time ever installing a stereo in a vehicle. I bought the receiver and associated parts for a 2007 Silverado classic. Crutchfield included the wiring pigtail and antenna adapter. That along with the instructions they include made the install extremely simple and straightforward! So far I am very satisfied with the new stereo, it's nice to finally have Bluetooth capability in an older vehicle. It performs just like it should and perhaps a little better. I did also purchase some replacement speakers for my oem speakers that had gone bad, however I feel like perhaps I should have consulted Crutchfield before making the purchase because it seams like it doesn't take much to exceed the capabilities of the speakers. That said my experience with Crutchfield has been great, they include everything you need to make you install as seamless as possible. For any future audio needs I will most definitely be a returning customer!

A good replacement radio to bring an older truck into the 21st century

Crutchfield customer from Bonners Ferry, ID on 5/22/2019

    1998 Dodge Ram

    Verified customer (What's this?)
    Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

With our daughter moving back home and as she is now driving our old 1998 Dodge Diesel truck, for her recent birthday I wanted to give her a radio replacement and upgrade. Our rural area has one AM and five FM broadcast stations, and she didn't want satellite radio. I picked this radio for its reviews and cost, and it was a good choice. Always go for the installation and wiring kits!!! I like purchasing radios and installation kits for Crutchfield, because it is just simpler and everything works to make it an easy and good-looking installation. I had to run only one ground wire as everything else connected through the new wiring harnesses. The new mounting cover actually looks very good covering the space where the larger old radio was mounted as in the photos I included of the installation. From box to installed took about three hours or so. While the stock radio still was working, the volume knob was getting bad and cassettes are history and with no connectivity it meant it was time to go anyway. This JVC radio works very well, my ONLY gripe is being unable, so far, to find out how to adjust the face plate lighting. Not even the manual I downloaded had the info for this model as having much adjustability. The stock hi-end speakers still sound great and work very well with this replacement radio. The connectivity also works great as expected and my daughter is very happy to be able to listen to her music via Bluetooth and make hands free calls.

Pros: Small unit form factor. No need to have a bracket holding up the back side of the radio chassis as many radios did in the "olden days." Buying from Crutchfield, everything fits and works! Really, the best way to shop and purchase replacement auto audio in rural America.

Cons: Everything works. However, as mentioned above, and as indicated in the complete manual, features aren't available with this lower cost model of the unit that should be adjustable. I actually can take a bit of the blame by not more thoroughly checking the specifications I guess. In my defense though, I wouldn't think face plate lights that flash with the music beat would be the default setting!

    2007 Ford Ranger

    Verified customer (What's this?)
    Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

My requirements for a replacement stereo for my 2007 Ford Ranger were minimal as I am an old geezer! I wanted to have two phones paired all the time, I wanted a clock that was highly visible day and night, but I had little interest in radio reception or features. I do use a USB Drive for music, though. With this JVC unit, I am a happy camper. I was concerned when I ordered it because the price was so low. But for that low price, Crutchfield included the wiring harness, the single DIN retrofit dash piece, and idiot proof instructions. Installation was smooth once I figured out the DIN vs. ISO mounting issues. The unit is amazing and sounds really great. Both phones pair immediately and I was able to program common phone numbers to the six push buttons - so great! The clock is set to display all the time and is easily seen day or night. For 60 bucks, this thing is great and so is Crutchfield. I got much more than I expected.

Was looking for a simple radio that would allow me to listen to my audio books and music using Bluetooth. Installation with the provided kit went great with no issues. Only "aggravation" is that when I get in and first start up the truck the music starts up automatically as soon as it connects. I'm sure that there is probably a way to disable that, I just haven't found it yet.

A great radio at an astoundingly great Price.

    2003 Toyota Tundra

    Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Completely happy with radio, I wanted something with Bluetooth calling and media features, USB and aux mini plug on the face of the radio and without a cd/dvd drive and the JVC KD-X260BT fit the bill. I replaced the factory radio in my 2003 Toyota Tundra and it was very easy, Crutchfield's instructions are a great to either use or at the least reference during the R&R process. The Price of the radio is already a steal at under 60.00 and then Crutchfield throws in the harness install kit and shipping for free! This deal is the best you will get. Now, I haven't upgraded the speakers in the Tundra but, I have to say that the sound is strong and clear, it is lacking really good bass with factory settings, I played with the settings and the overall sound improved but, it will take me more time to dial it in the way I like. But, like I stated, there will be a limitation on sound quality with the old OEM speakers. Every once in a while a manufacturer releases a product that ends up exceeding it's price point in quality and features, This is one of those times.

Pros: Overall, A great digital multimedia head unit. at a crazy cheap price. buying from Crutchfield turns it into a real steal!

Cons: complexity of settings could be streamlined Vol/settings knob could have a more durable feel.

Pros: Ease of installation, and Bluetooth works better than my Subaru's stock Bluetooth because of auto connection

Cons: The mounting kit that comes free with this wasn't very good, kind of wobbles a bit but again for the price you can't beat it

Great stereo so far. Installation was pretty simple. Sounds phenomenal compared to my stock deck. Lots of audio customization settings. Lost a star because the sound from a bluetooth connection produces some noise and a bit of static. Auxiliary, however, is crystal clear.

Great receiver for the money. Installation was well documented and Crutchfield is amazing to work with. Volume knob feels like it could be susceptible to breakage with slight impact, but otherwise very impressed.

Pros: Easy to navigate menus, bluetooth works perfectly.

Cons: Volume knob feels a bit flimsy and tapers down in the back where it meets the receiver. It feels as if an accidental snag of a purse strap, or brush with the coffee cup could snap it off the receiver.

I installed this unit in a 1999 Dodge Dakota. The fit was absolutely perfect; the install was easy and took no more than 30 minutes. I had purchased the modified wiring connector. It looks as nice as the OEM install. My choice of this radio was spot on. The truck is one that I bought new and have kept in nice shape. My 15 year old granddaughter has her driver "learners permit" and grandpa has been given the responsibility of teaching her to drive. The OEM radio didn't have blue-tooth (iPhone), or hands-free functionality. The truck is now outfitted with the radio features we have all become accustomed to. The sound output from the radio far exceeds the previous radio. I like it; my granddaughter likes it. Thanks Crutchfield for a great value and flawless buying experience. My granddaughter loves her first vehicle.

I like the stereo. The buttons are not the most intuitive but the user guide is thorough. I love the red lighting because it goes with my red truck! The bluetooth works great with my iPhone 7 and I'm so glad I don't have to use a bunch of adapters and radio tuning to listen from my phone anymore. My favorite part is how easy Crutchfield made the ordering process. They bundling everything I needed to fit the stereo to my truck and included good instructions. I would have been at a loss to find all of the adapters myself. This was my first experience doing anything to my truck without help and I was able to get the job done! I'm glad I ordered the additional adapter wiring service.

Pros: Sleek look, great interface, Bluetooth, simple to install

Cons: The instructions should have been more clear about attaching the stereo to the dashboard mount. I may or may not have resorted to duct tape...

Great unit, lots of features, love external output jack and the bluetooth / handsfree calling feature. Calling sound quality is great both for me and for the person / people on the other end of the call. Only reason I give it a 4 instead of a 5 star: it's a bit under powered but in a sense, that's an unjust rating when you consider the cost of this unit.

My first radio from Crutchfield was ordered over the phone after selecting it from a paper catalog way back in the pre-Internet days. This most recent purchase was just as easy and I am am happy with it. I did have to call for assistance about a ground connection and the question was answered promptly and correctly. Great little value unit! Sends a decent amount of power, and it's got fairly good Bluetooth handsfree. For the price, you can't beat it! I really like the fact that it still lets you select your speaker sizes, and has a custom EQ. Keep in mind that this deck doesn't offer RCA outputs for an amp, so you'll probably want to use a better deck if you're running an amp.

Pros: Bluetooth, custom EQ, loud for its size, doesn't run too hot.

Cons: Only one set of RCA (rear or sub) out, which is common for decks at this price range.

Receiver looks great in my car, and very happy with the ability to really adjust the sound to my liking. Both my phone and girlfriend's phone paired up to it easily, and music plays through b.t. great. I did not run the mic yet for calls since there is no easy way to route the wire behind the unit in my car. Only issues I have is the clock will not stay at the correct time. Always skips to later time, no matter what I tried. And I cannot get any of our devices to connect throufh the USB. The screen says Unrecognized device for both iPod and phones. Just been using b.t. or the aux plug for my music. I have not used it for Pandora or the other options.

Pros: Blue tooth easy to connect. Plenty of sound adjustability.

Cons: Clock will not stay at correct time. Will not read devices when plugged into USB.

I wanted something good but simple to operate. This was it, good sound, simple to operate. The bluetooth and accessory port are the reason for purchase, the USB is added goodness. The stereo is not a thumper but that's why it appealed to me. Customer service was excellent as well. I will be looking for one for my wife's 2004 Honda Pilot.

First, no problems with Crutchfield. Easy to deal with and great customer service. Installation was easy with great instructions and additional parts needed that were supplied. The radio set up easy, bluetooth connection was no problem and works as it should. Now for the reason for the 2 star rating, The radio is the worst I have ever seen, stations in my town start to fade by the city limits sign and if you are traveling between cities you will not be able to hear a station. It is a good thing the bluetooth works as well as it does, but you can forget listening to a ball game on your drive. Looking for something else.

    Pros: looks, set up

    Cons: radio reception

    Built-in Bluetooth

Bluetooth Technology: The JVC KD-X260BT is equipped with built-in Bluetooth 3.0, allowing you to make and receive phone calls wirelessly through the receiver; as well as stream music wirelessly from your smartphone to the head unit. In order to use Bluetooth wireless technology, your phone must also be Bluetooth compatible and be able to interpret certain profiles. This unit is compatible with the following Bluetooth Profiles:

    • Hands-Free Communication: HFP 1.6 (Hands Free Profile) & PBAB 1.0 (Phone Book Access Profile).
    • Audio Streaming: A2DP 1.2 (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) & AVRCP 1.5 (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile).
Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the JVC KD-X260BT. Check here for the latest Bluetooth compatibility information.

SSP (Simple Secure Pairing): With Secure Simple Pairing (SSP), you can easily pair a Bluetooth enabled phone to the JVC KD-X260BT without having to enter pin codes or go through complicated settings. You can pair up to five Bluetooth-enabled devices to the JVC head unit. When an already paired Bluetooth device is in close proximity to the receiver, the auto connection function automatically pairs the two units.

    • Dual Phone Connection: Thanks to the Dual Phone Connection feature, two Bluetooth-enabled phones can remain connected to the JVC receiver. This means you can an answer an incoming call from either phone from the head unit. Also, both of your phone's contact lists are downloaded to the receiver. To make a call from one of the phones using the JVC receiver, you simply have to select Phone 1 or Phone 2 on the head unit's front-panel.
    • Streaming DJ: The new Streaming DJ feature allows five Bluetooth audio source devices to be connected to the JVC receiver at one time, so you can switch between Bluetooth playback sources a lot easier and quicker. While "BT Audio" source is selected on the head unit, you can simply press the music playback button on your connected Bluetooth source devices to switch between devices and begin music playback. However, you cannot stream audio from two different Bluetooth audio source devices at the same time or combine music libraries or playlists from two different connected devices.

Bluetooth Hands-Free Communication (w/ External Mic): The head unit supports Bluetooth hands-free communication for your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone. And thanks to the latest Hands-Free Profile (HFP 1.6) with wideband speech capability, the KD-X260BT provides more natural sound quality and details during wireless calls. The controls of the KD-X260BT can be used to dial a number, answer an in-coming call, or end a call. The unit also includes an external microphone (with mounting bracket) featuring adjustable gain, so you can carry on your side of the conversation while listening to the caller through your vehicles speakers. During a conversation, you can switch between the Private Mode (talking directly on your cell phone) and the Hands Free Mode.

    • Answering A Call: When a call comes in, a ring-tone will be heard through your vehicle's speaker and the caller's name or phone number will be displayed. You can answer the call from the head unit's front-panel controls, or setup the head unit to automatically answer the incoming call immediately or after 1-30 seconds. The KD-X260BT also supports the Call Waiting function, so you can answer another incoming call while suspending the current call you are on. Your compatible cell-phone must also support this feature.
    • Dialing A Number: Using the KD-X260BT, you can dial a phone number in one of the following ways:
      • Enter Phone #: Allows you to directly dial a phone number up to 32 digits from the head unit's front-panel rotary dial.
      • Preset Dialing: You can store up to 6 contacts in the memory of this unit for speed dialing.
      • Phone Book: You can download phone book data from your mobile phone to the digital media receiver. You can then dial a contact within the phonebook from the head unit's front-panel controls. Your phonebook can be searched alphabetically or numerically.
      • Call History: The Call History is a list of calls that have originated from and were received by this unit that you can dial. You can select Outgoing, Incoming, or Missed calls.
      • Voice Dialing: If your mobile phone supports voice recognition, then you can dial out by voice command. Simply speak into the included microphone once you have activated the voice dialing function from the head unit's front-panel.

Wireless Audio Streaming: The JVC KD-X260BT supports wireless audio playback (AD2P) and control (AVRCP) of a Bluetooth-enabled smartphone or audio player, plus song/artist information display. You are able to stream your stored music library on your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone, as well as music apps downloaded on your smartphone to the JVC KD-X260BT for playback.

    • SBC + AAC Codecs: In addition to support for the standard SBC Bluetooth audio codec, the KD-X260BT offers support of AAC. By supporting AAC, the KD-X260BT offers better audio performance of the music streamed from and Apple iOS device. (iOS devices are only compatible using Bluetooth.)
    • Advanced Music Browsing: In addition to basic playback functions (Play/Pause, FF/RW, Skip, Random/Repeat), the KD-X260BT lets you browse your stored music by Playlist, Artist, Album, Song, etc. Advanced music browsing is supported by Android 4.0+ smartphones and Apple iPhones 5.0+ (specific advanced functions vary by phone).
    • Song/Artist Information: The head unit will also display your stored music and music app's song information; such as Artist name and Song/Album title (not compatible with all apps).
Note: When an incoming call or outgoing call is in progress from your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone, audio streaming will be paused so you can take your call. Once the call is finished, your streaming music will resume.

Low Battery Information: When the battery of a connected Bluetooth device runs low, a beep sound is heard and "LOW BATTERY" appears on the receiver's display.

    Android/USB/Aux Integration

Android Open Accessory 2.0 (AOA 2.0) Connectivity: The JVC KD-X260BT's front-panel USB port lets you connect your AOA 2.0 compatible Android (OS 4.1-7.1.2) smartphone for music playback. JVC does not guarantee operation with all Android devices, regardless of operating system. There are two Android AOA 2.0 modes to choose from based on what content you want to listen to and how you want to control it.

    • Auto Mode: The JVC KD-X260BT supports Android Open Accessory 2.0 (AOA 2.0), which lets you connect your Android (OS 4.1-7.1.2) smartphone to the KD-X260BT's front-panel USB port and listen to stored music and music apps from your Android device through the JVC head unit. You'll be able to control basic playback functions such as Play/Pause and Previous/Next Track. Other advanced music navigation will still be done from your Android smartphone's touchscreen. In this mode, the head unit will not display song/artist information; only "Audio Mode" will show up on display. You'll continue to view song/artist information from the Android device's touchscreen. You'll also still be able to access other functions and applications from your Android smartphone's touchscreen, while listening to music through the head unit. If you make a call or answer a call from your smartphone while listening to music in this mode, the music will pause until you are finished with the call and then start back up again.
    • JVC Music Play App: Downloading the JVC Music Play app onto your Android (OS 4.1-7.1.2) smartphone not only allows you to listen to stored music from your Android device through the JVC digital media receiver connected via USB, but it also lets you browse your Android smartphone's music library from the head unit's front-panel controls. You can browse your store music library by Playlist, Artist, Song, Album, or Genre. You can also control Play/Pause and Previous/Next track from the head unit. In addition, the head unit will display song/artist information. You can exit the JVC Music Play app to access other functions and applications of your Android smartphone, while your stored music library is still playing through your head unit. If you make a call or answer a call from your smartphone while listening to music in this mode, the music will pause until you are finished with the call and then start back up again.
Note: Some Android devices may not fully support Android Open Accessory (AOA) 2.0. JVC does not guarantee operation with all Android devices.

USB Mass Storage Devices: The JVC KD-X260BT features a front-panel USB (type-A) port that is hidden behind a flip-out cover. The USB port enables connection of USB mass storage class (MSC) devices, like USB thumbdrives or portable digital music players. You can insert a compatible USB MSC device into the head unit's USB port for playback, control, and song/artist display of a variety of music files.

    • Music Drive: The Music Drive feature lets you switch between multiple memory cards in a USB multi-card reader. When a mass storage class (MSC) compatible smartphone is connected to the head unit's USB input, the unit's Music Drive features lets you select its internal memory or external memory (such as an SD card) for stored music playback.
    • USB Charging: USB devices that can be charged via USB will be charged when plugged into the digital media receiver's USB port (max. 1.5A), and the vehicle's ignition switch is set to ACC or On.
Note: Not compatible with Apple iOS devices or USB hubs.

    Audio & DSP Section

24 Bit D/A Converter: The JVC KD-X260BT utilizes a 24-bit digital to analog converter for superior sound quality.

MOSFET Amplifier: The JVC KD-X260BT is equipped with a MOSFET amplifier. Compared to conventional power supplies, the MOSFET amplification circuit is smaller and more efficient, and it delivers increased power with less distortion and absolutely zero on/off switching noise. More power means louder and cleaner music at higher volumes because you're not pushing the limits of the amplification circuit. The power output specs for the KD-X260BT are as follows:

    • Full Bandwidth Power: 22 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 20-20kHz, 1% THD)
    • Maximum Output Power: 50 watts x 4 channels (200 total watts)

Amp Gain: When you are using the KD-X260BT with factory speakers (or those rated to less than 50 watts peak), the Amplifier Gain Control can limit the amount of power being sent to those speakers. When the Amp Gain Control is set to "low," the volume control ranges from 0 (minimum) to 25 (maximum). When using speakers rated higher than 50 watts peak, you can set the Amp Gain Control to "high," and the volume control will range from 0 to 35.

2.5V/2Ch Preamp Output: The KD-X260BT is equipped with two 2.5V preamp outputs (Rear/SW). You can set the Rear/SW preamp outputs for connecting a pair of full-range rear speakers (through an external amplifier) or for connecting a subwoofer (through an external amplifier). When set for rear speakers, the rear outputs operate with the unit's fader control. When set for subwoofer, the outputs are non-fading and offer an independent level control (-50 to +10).

Subwoofer Speaker Connection: You can connect a subwoofer to this head unit without the need of a separate power amplifier. Simply connect a single subwoofer (4-8 ohm) directly to head unit's left rear speaker leads (the right rear speaker output will be muted). The rated power output for the subwoofer speaker channel remains 22 watts. Same subwoofer controls apply, except the, subwoofer level adjustment is from -6 to+3.

Vehicle Setup: In order to optimize the sound quality in your vehicle, you can indentify the type of vehicle you have and the rear speaker location, as well as configure listening distances.

    • Car Type: Select your car type to automatically set the delay time of each speaker for timing adjustment of sound output of each channel to have the highest surround effect. Choose from Compact, Full Size Car, Wagon, Mini Van, SUV, or Off.
    • Rear Speaker Location: You can indicate the location of your vehicle's Rear speakers. Choose from Door, Rear Deck, 2nd Row, or 3rd Row.
    • DTA (Digital Time Alignment): For a better sound-stage you can select your optimal listening position. You can choose from All, Front Left, Front Right or Front. You can also select to manually fine tune the sound stage, using Digital Time Alignment (DTA) by selecting the distance (0-20') for each individual speaker in the vehicle compared to your listening position.

Crossover Network: The JVC KD-X260BT lets you choose between a 2-way or 3-way crossover network for your car audio application.

    • 2-Way Crossover: Allows you to set high-pass and low-pass crossovers for a standard Tweeter, Front, Rear, and Subwoofer speaker setup.

You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you.
