Take full advantage of the latest iPod technology in your car. JVC's KS-U49 iPod audio/video cable allows you to connect your iPod or iPhone directly to your compatible JVC receiver for high-speed audio and video transfer, while allowing you to surf through your iPod's songs and categories using your receiver's controls. Once connected, you'll also be able to view your iPod's album art on your receiver's display, as well as watch video content when you're parked. See "Details" for compatible receivers and iPods. Features
Overview: The JVC KS-U49 USB Audio/Video Cable For iPod/iPhone allows you to playback and control audio and video from your iPod/iPhone on select JVC multimedia head units. This cable also allows you to view Album Artwork. The cable features a proprietary Apple iPod dock connector on one end and a right-angle male 3.5mm video connector on the other end, along with a USB (type-A) connector.
Note: The cable is 6' in length from the 3.5mm video connector to the Apple dock connector, and 3' in length from the USB (type-A) connector to the Apple dock connector.
JVC Head Unit Compatibility: The JVC KS-U49 is compatible with 2011-up JVC multimedia/navigation receivers which feature an iPod/iPhone compatible USB port and 3.5mm video connector. Current models include (as of 3/20/2012):

If this doesn't work, you may need to revert to the older software version or wait until a newer software update is available.

what else is there to evaluate? only question is why JVC makes you buy it separately instead of including with their high-end GPS head units. Maybe they assume there are people out there without Smart phones still.
