Features

Overview: The JVC KS-U49 USB Audio/Video Cable For iPod/iPhone allows you to playback and control audio and video from your iPod/iPhone on select JVC multimedia head units. This cable also allows you to view Album Artwork. The cable features a proprietary Apple iPod dock connector on one end and a right-angle male 3.5mm video connector on the other end, along with a USB (type-A) connector.

Note: The cable is 6' in length from the 3.5mm video connector to the Apple dock connector, and 3' in length from the USB (type-A) connector to the Apple dock connector.

JVC Head Unit Compatibility: The JVC KS-U49 is compatible with 2011-up JVC multimedia/navigation receivers which feature an iPod/iPhone compatible USB port and 3.5mm video connector. Current models include (as of 3/20/2012):

Does this part work with iphone 5s? How do i connect it to the already installed head unit?

Joel, I bought an iPhone 4S without a phone number on an online auction site and left it plugged in the car. There is an adapter that will mate the 8 pin lightning connector on the iPhone 5S to the 30 pin connector. Be sure to buy it from Apple because they put some kind of chip in it. The cheap ones you see on auction sites don't workSean

Assuming that you have a JVC head unit (I have the KW-NT510 HD), the only way most likely would be having to pull the already installed head unit to plug the USB ports and also to plug in the jack on the back of the head unit. Then, you would need to purchase a "30 pin to lighting plug" adaptor that Crutchfield also has for sale. I bought the adaptor for when I upgrade my iPhone to the next generation iPhone and should work with the 5s.

Sorry, not compatible with 5S which uses the new lightning connector.

Not sure, I don't have an iPhone. I thought that it connected to the USB on the front of a receiver and the small plug goes into the video input of the receiver but I can't confirm.

I haven't tried with iphone5 but works great with 4s. To install You have to remove the head unit and there is a input for the plug in the back that looks like a headphone jack - just plug in the yellow end of the chord and you are ready to go

Hey Joel, This particular one fits the 4& 4s, the phone jack is different for the 5. There is a hard USB line & in the rear of the deck there is also an Ipod video plug (yellow). Plug the USB port into the hard line and then the video in to the video input. You will need to remove the deck from the dash : ( Hope this helps Kevin Q O)<

This is a standard ipod connector and will not directly mate with the smaller iphone5 connector. I have not looked, but I am sure there are adapters available to convert from the older style to the newer iphone style connector, if you want to go that way. The usb end connects with the generic usb socket on the radio unit, usually located on the back. The yellow video connector is optional and allows video from the ipod to be displayed on the GPS screen of compatible JVC units (and perhaps others) and this socket if it exists is definity on the back of the radio unit.

This will work with the iphone 5s only if the iphone has the exact same connection as an ipod, so make sure this is the case before you purchase (you can call the apple store and find out). If it does fit, you will have to reach to the back of the unit to connect it, so if there is no access you will need to remove the unit in order to get to the back.

I haven't tested it yet with the iPhone 5. Since this cable has the 30-pin connector, you'll need to purchase the adaptor so the cable can connect to the iPhone. I have a Classic iPod, so this isn't a concern. Good luck!

It may but you will need the lightning adapter that Apple sells and you will need plug it in to the back of your head unit.
