Smartphone integration options

And built-in Bluetooth provides wireless convenience for your smartphone.

Choose Android Auto or Apple CarPlay

With your iPhone® or Android™ smartphone connected to the KW-M750BT via USB, you'll gain a variety of apps that are simple to switch between, whether you're using this radio's touchscreen or voice control.

  • Android Auto: If you connect an Android device, Android Auto integrates the Android platform into your driving experience in a non-distracting way. You'll have voice control access to Google Maps, weather, music, your phone, text messages, plus easy access to many of your favorite apps. Get more info at https://www.android.com/auto.
  • Apple CarPlay: CarPlay integrates your iPhone® into the driving experience, putting iPhone content at the driver's voice command with minimal distraction. That means easy access to your music library, your phone, messages, navigation, and many third-party streaming music apps, too. Learn more at https://www.apple.com/ios/carplay.
  • Phone swapping: If your family includes both iPhone and Android users, you simply plug in the phone you want to use without having to choose a particular input or adjust menu settings for control.

Bluetooth built in

Bluetooth enables wireless streaming for music and hands-free phone calls. You can quickly switch between two paired phones — handy for vehicles with more than one driver. Many portable audio players also include Bluetooth, so you can stream your personal music collections while you're on the road. When it comes to streaming audio, JVC's Streaming DJ feature lets you pair five phones so everybody can add their favorite songs to the road trip playlist. You can also control this car stereo directly from your phone using JVC's free Remote app.

Even more entertainment

The KW-M750BT's rear USB port offers a lot of options, like Pandora and Spotify app control over your phone and high-resolution FLAC file playback from a thumb drive. And if AM/FM radio isn't enough, you can add an optional SiriusXM tuner and seriously expand the scope of your entertainment choices.

Add two cameras and more

If you have need for a cargo cam or front-view cam in addition to a backup cam, JVC gives you two camera inputs, making the KW-M750BT one heck of a command center. If you've got an audio/video piece to add to the system, like a video game console, you can plug it into this receiver's rear input. And if you've got a backseat crew that needs a distraction, you can feed them some video by connecting additional monitors to this receiver's video output.

Customize your radio

Be the boss of your new radio using variable brightness control with an auto dimmer. And to keep your attention on the road, JVC lets you use simple swipe and circular movements on the display for changing tracks, accessing music folders, and adjusting the volume.

Get the sound you want

Tweak your sound by using a huge array of sound-sculpting controls, including a 13-band graphic equalizer and time alignment to get you to center stage. To enhance compressed audio, JVC's K2 technology helps bring back the depth and detail for all your digital music sources. The Sound Lift feature adjusts your music's frequencies to virtually "raise" speakers that are lower in the doors for better, more natural imaging.

iDatalink Maestro lets you keep your factory extras

The KW-M750BT offers compatibility you won't find in many other aftermarket radios, thanks to the iDatalink Maestro module (not included). In a wide selection of vehicles, this module lets you keep factory features that you'd otherwise lose when you install a new radio. Once you've identified your vehicle, you'll see the iDatalink module offered on the way to the Shopping Cart if it's compatible.

Bluetooth note: Use of this receiver's Bluetooth features will depend upon your phone's Bluetooth capabilities. Learn more in our article explaining Bluetooth profiles.

iPod/smartphone note: If you're going to use your iPod or smartphone with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for compatibility information.

You'll need a wired connection to your parking brake to access settings and other features on this receiver. Your parking brake must be connected and set in order to view video on its screen.

    Android Auto & Apple CarPlay

Android Auto: The JVC digital media receiver supports the Android Auto app for Android smartphones running OS Lollipop (5.0 or newer). Your compatible Android smartphone must be connected to the JVC receiver's rear-panel USB port and the USB cable that came with your smartphone, plus be paired via Bluetooth. Android Auto extends the Android platform into your car in a way that's purpose-built for driving and automatically brings you useful information and organizes it into a simple on-screen interface that is simple to use in the vehicle. It's designed to minimize distraction so you can stay focused on the road ahead. Features of Android Auto include -

    • Google Assistant: The JVC receiver enhances your Android Auto experience even more by incorporating Google Assistant using the head unit's external microphone and your car speakers for voice command and text-to-speech, which makes using Android Auto and all of its integrated applications fast, easy, and safe. You will need to press the "mic" button or say "OK Google" to activate the Google Assistant. Use the Google Assistant to make a call, send a message, reply to a message, get driving directions, listen to music, or even control select Google Assistant smartphone enabled devices.
    • Google & Waze Maps: Use Google Maps to get where you're going with on-screen maps, voice-guided navigation, live traffic information, lane guidance, and more. Select your destination by using the head unit's touchscreen or just say where you want to go through the unit's external mic and Google Speech Technology. You can even listen to music from your Android Auto device or other connected source device while using Google Maps. If you prefer, you can switch over to a simpler version of the community-based Waze navigation app (version 4.27 or higher).
    • Phone & SMS: With Android Auto you get access to your contacts and messages through the JVC receiver while keeping your eyes on the road. Use the unit's external mic and Google Speech Technology to make a phone call, or have your text-messages read aloud to you while you concentrate on the road ahead; you can even reply to texts via voice command.
    • Music: Access your Android smartphone's music library through the JVC receiver via Google Play Music. You'll be able to browse music like you do on your smartphone with song/artist information display and album art. Use the receiver's touchscreen to select songs or just say what song you want to listen to through the head unit's external mic and Google Speech Technology. You also get access to online music and radio stations from Amazon Music, Tidal, Pandora, Spotify, iHeart Radio, Slacker Radio, Tune-In, and more; as well as news, sports and talk radio apps. Music apps include song and station browsing, plus song/artist information and album art or station logo. Click here for a list of all compatible app for Android Auto.

    Notes:

    • The initial setup for Android Auto requires that your vehicle be stopped and the parking brake is engaged. You will need to connect the parking brake wire of the receiver's harness to your vehicle's parking brake circuit for the head unit to recognize that the vehicle's parking brake is engaged.
    • Bluetooth hands-free phone and wireless music streaming cannot be used while Android Auto is being used with a connected Android smartphone.
    • Use a USB cable that is under 6' long and avoid using any extension cable other than the one supplied. If you need an additional USB extension cable, use Kenwood's CA-U1EX USB extension cable (113CAU1EX, sold separately); any other USB extension cable can cause Android Auto to malfunction.

Apple CarPlay Compatible: Apple CarPlay is the smarter, safer in-vehicle interface to operate your iPhone (iOS 7.1+) with Lightning-connector. Your iPhone must be connected to the JVC receiver's USB port via the Lightning-cable that came with your Apple device, or JVC's Lightning connector-to-USB cable (105KSU62, sold separately). You can control CarPlay from the JVC receiver's touchscreen controls or use Siri to control to control CarPlay with just your voice. You'll be able to use CarPlay to get directions, make phone calls, listen to voice mails, send/receive text messages, select music, and even control Apple HomeKit compatible devices in a way that keeps you focused on the road ahead.

    • Navigation Maps: The power and simplicity of Apple Maps comes to your dashboard; complete with turn-by-turn direction, traffic conditions, and estimated travel time. You can enter a new destination or choose a favorite or recent destination using the head unit's touchscreen or by simply asking Siri. CarPlay can also predict where you most likely want to go using addresses from your email, text messages, contacts, and calendars. If you have iOS 12.0 or newer on your iPhone with the latest version of Google Maps or Waze, you can choose to navigate via the Google Maps or Waze application instead of Apple Maps. Google Maps and Waze do not support Siri voice control, but will have their own proprietary voice control function which has to be accessed through a touchscreen icon on the receiver.
    • Phone & Messages: You'll be able to make calls, return missed calls, and listen to voicemails through the JVC receiver. Siri can also help you do all these things. In addition, Siri can send, read, and reply to your text messages for you; so you never have to look at your iPhone while driving.
    • Music Library: Access your artists, song, playlists, and iTunes Radio on your iPhone using the JVC receiver's touchscreen. Or, just tell Siri what you'd like to listen to. The head unit's touchscreen will display song/artist information, as well as album art in the background.
    • Apps: CarPlay also supports additional audio apps that you've downloaded to your iPhone for enjoying music, radio, sports, news, podcasts, & audiobooks (subscriptions and fees may apply). Control these apps from the head unit's touchscreen just like you would from your iPhone. Current supported apps include:
    • Apple HomeKit Compatible: CarPlay now supports control of Apple HomeKit enabled devices (sold separately) through Siri. Using CarPlay in your vehicle, you can ask Siri to close or open your garage door, turn on or off home lighting, increase or decrease the temperature of your thermostat, as well as control select functions of other Apple HomeKit enabled devices and appliances. Click here for a list of compatible Apple HomeKit products.

    Notes:

    • Bluetooth hands-free phone and wireless music streaming cannot be used while Apple CarPlay is being used with a connected iPhone.
    • If you need an additional USB extension cable, use Kenwood's CA-U1EX USB extension cable (113CAU1EX, sold separately). Any other USB extension cable can cause CarPlay to malfunction.

Cellular & Data Plan Requirements: Access to CarPlay and Android Auto apps will depend on the availability of a cellular and/or WiFi network for purposes of allowing your iPhone or Android smartphone to connect to the Internet. Your compatible Apple or Android device will need an active Data Plan account with connection to the Internet via 3G, EDGE, LTE (4G), or WiFi.

Smartphone Charging: The JVC KW-M750BT will also charge (5V/1.5A) your Android smartphone or Apple iPod/iPhone device while connected via USB with the vehicle's ignition switch set to the 'ACC' or 'On' position.

    iPhone & USB Playback

iPod/iPhone Music Playback Only: If you don't desire Apple CarPlay, you can also connect your Lightning-connector Apple iPod/iPhone to the KW-M750BT's USB port for music playback & control only using JVC's Lightning connector-to-USB cable (105KSU62, sold separately) or the Lightning-to-USB cable that came with your Apple device. The receiver supports playback of stored music and music apps, along with control and charging, plus song/artist information and album art.

    • Audio Streaming: A2DP 1.3 (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile), AVRCP 1.6 (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile).

You can pair up to ten Bluetooth-enabled devices to the JVC receiver. When an already paired Bluetooth device is in close proximity to the receiver, the auto connection function automatically pairs the two units.

    • Dual Phone Connection: Thanks to the Dual Phone Connection feature, two Bluetooth-enabled phones can remain connected to the JVC receiver. This means you can an answer an incoming call from either phone from the head unit. Also, both of your phone's contact lists are downloaded to the receiver. To make a call from one of the phones using the JVC receiver, you simply have to select Phone 1 or Phone 2 on the head unit's touchscreen.
    • Streaming DJ: The new Streaming DJ feature allows five Bluetooth audio source devices to be connected to the JVC receiver at one time, so you can switch between Bluetooth playback sources a lot easier and quicker. However, you cannot stream audio from two different Bluetooth audio source devices at the same time or combine music libraries or playlists from two different connected devices.

The touchscreen controls of the KW-M750BT can be used to dial a number, answer an in-coming call, or end a call. The unit also includes an external microphone, so you can carry on your side of the conversation while listening to the caller through your vehicles speakers (All or Front only). You are able to stream your stored music library on your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone, as well as music apps downloaded on your smartphone to the JVC KW-M750BT for playback.

    • SBC + AAC Codecs: In addition to support for the standard SBC Bluetooth audio codec, the KW-M750BT offers support of AAC. By supporting AAC, the KW-M750BT offers better audio performance of the music streamed from your Apple iPod, iPhone, or iPad.
    • Advanced Music Browsing: In addition to basic playback functions (Play/Pause, FF/RW, Skip, Random/Repeat), the KW-M750BT lets you browse your stored music by Playlist, Artist, Album, Song, etc. (AVRCP 1.4-up phones only; which includes Android 4.0+ and iPhone 5.0+).

    Audio & DSP Section

24-Bit/192kHz DAC: The JVC KW-M750BT utilizes a 24-bit/192kHz digital to analog converter (DAC) for superior sound quality with a Signal to Noise ratio up to 98.5dB.

    • Vol Link EQ: The Vol Link EQ features boosts certain frequency ranges that become hard to hear due to road noise.

Music Enhancement: You can restore the sound lost due to audio compression, as well as enhance the sound by virtually manipulating the soundscape.

    • K2 Technology: The KW-M750BT employs K2 technology which dramatically improves the sound quality of compressed music files during CD, USB, and Bluetooth playback. When the K2 feature is activated, the sound becomes wider, smoother, and more natural.

Volume Level & Bass Management: The digital media receiver offers several volume level adjustments to tailor the audio output of your sources. The KW-M750BT also provides bass management to get the most impact out of your system.

    • Loudness, Bass Boost & Bass Extension: The Loudness feature boosts low and high frequencies to produce a well-balanced sound at a low volume level. The unit's Bass Boost enhances low bass frequencies at any volume level. There is also a Bass Extension feature which further enhances the unit's bass output on frequencies lower than 62.5Hz.
    • Volume Offset: The input level of each source (other than FM) is adjustable relative to the FM radio volume, so there isn't a significant volume difference when changing sources. Each source is individually adjustable from -15 to +6.

The purple/white wire attahced to the rear chassis must be connected to the vehicle's reverse lamp circuit for automatic video switching. Automatic video switching takes approximately 0.8 seconds.
Note: The rear view camera feature is meant as a back-up aid only; never solely rely on the rear-view camera when backing-up. In addition to using the rear-view camera, always look behind you to make sure everything is clear when backing up your vehicle.

OEM Integration: This JVC digital media receiver is compatible with the iDatalink Maestro RR (794ADSMRR, sold separately); a web programmable module that will permit the aftermarket JVC receiver to work with select Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury vehicles that feature the factory SYNC system; as well as select GM vehicles with factory OnStar; select Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep vehicles with U-Connect, plus select Honda/Acura, Toyota/Scion, Volkswagen & Subaru vehicles with factory digital amplifiers.

Note: The iDatalink Maestro RR is web programmable, which means you'll need to flash the iDatalink Maestro RR interface module with the correct firmware from iDatalink's website. In addition to flashing the iDatalink Maestro RR module, you'll also need a vehicle specific harness (sold separately). The JVC receiver's OEM Setup menu must also be configured with your compatible vehicle's factory system before initial operation.

The User mode allows you to customize your own background color. In addition, there are seven preset background images (wallpapers) or you can download your own JPEG/PNG/BMP still image (800x600) for use as the unit's background from a connected USB thumbdrive.
    • Photo Frame Widget: You can even display a slideshow of images files (up to 500) stored on an inserted USB thumbdrive when on the Home Screen. Images must be JPEG (5000x5000), PNG (1000x1000), or BMP (1000x1000). • Clock Display: The digital media receiver offers a 12-hour clock which is visible from any source or menu screen. With your vehicle's key in the accessory or start position, the head unit will continue to display the LCD background image, clock, and button illumination during "AV Off" mode. Pressing the "Power Off" touchscreen icon turns the unit off completely.

Note: During video playback, you can adjust the screen's backlight, contrast, brightness, color, tint, & aspect ratio (Full/Normal/Auto).

Parking Brake Interlock: To prevent the display of video while the vehicle is in motion, the light green wire (attached to rear chassis) must be connected to the vehicle's parking brake detection circuit. You cannot view video unless your vehicle's parking brake is engaged. If you attempt to view video without the parking brake engaged, the unit's LCD touchscreen will simply display a blue screen and "Parking Off". While your vehicle is in motion (parking brake off), you can still view all of the head unit's menu screens/settings, source information, metadata, and album artwork; as well as CarPlay and Android Auto.

Note: The parking brake wire must also be connected and the parking brake engaged for certain setup functions and menu options.

Remote Control: The JVC KW-M750BT offers compatibility with factory steering wheel controls (adapter sold separately) and is compatible with JVC' IR wireless remote control (sold separately) for added convenience. This application can also display the receiver's source and song/artist information on the screen of your compatible Apple iOS or Android device.

Security Code: You can program the unit with a 4 digit security code. Once the unit has been programmed with a security code, the code must be entered to use the unit after it has been disconnected from power.

If your built in car mic plugs into your existing head unit with a mini jack then yes it will utilize the factory mic. I'd check the specs on your factory unit first.

I would guess if it has the same 1/8 phone plug then yes. But my hunch is the OEM has some special plug on it to not allow you to plug into the head unit.

    Q
Does this unit automatically view the back up camera when vehicle is in reverse, or does it have to be in video mode to view ( if the receiver and camera are wired to the reverse light) ?

    A
It will switch to rear-view camera automatically, IF it's properly wired. I had a minor adventure finding the correct reverse wire, and tapping into it. That said, JVC's implementation could be better. Backup cam wasn't offered as an option for my car, but the factory head unit was ready for it. There was a calibration screen for gridlines. JVC didn't include a means for calibration.

You won't need the iDatalink Maestro for that VW. Here is a link to a cart with a PAC wiring harness that will retain all of your essential factory connections to the amp as well as steering wheel controls. I also included our ReadyHarness pre-wiring service to make installation easier. https://www.crutchfield.com/I-rXYEc888/cart/EmailCart.aspx?emKey=2449967

Does the full title/artist display on FM radio, or just stream in pieces? (Hate that) my stock base Ram stereo at least shows the full info without streaming.

My daughter says it doesn't always give all the information depending on the station. For example, a very popular station in our area shows all possible information, but lesser known stations just show the name of song and writer on a stream like you said you disliked. I don't know if this is the screen for you if you don't like the name of the song streamed on the screen in pieces.

You do not need an amp if it's a powered sub. I installed an 8" Rockford Fosgate powered subwoofer and 8 gauge wiring and power kit I purchased from Crutchfield and the install in my Ram truck was fairly easy and it sounds unbelievable compared to the factory system.

You can connect a powered subwoofer directly to the subwoofer preamp output via RCA cables. Any subwoofer is going to require an amp - a powered subwoofer just has it built-in. If you have additional questions, or want to make sure you have a complete cart, you can connect with one of our friendly product advisor here: https://www.crutchfield.com/I-rET1c290/S-SUliZgSTXG7/support/ContactUs.aspx

I used a amp. I don't think the subwoofer output pushes any power. it should just a audio signal.
    [ Tony  Dec 23, 2019 ]
    A
The thing about pre-outputs (RCA line-level) is that they're NEVER going to power ANY speaker. Those jacks are designed to connect to an amp. That said, it's possible to connect a POWERED subwoofer to the line-level jacks.

If you want to wire directly you can to just the speakers, but it wouldn't sound great at all. I would install the amp if you're investing in your sound.

You would need your phone for that. This wont load the required app, it uses the apps on your phone. If you want gauges just get a phone holder that you can see, or buy a better unit. This one does work great though.

Do you have to remove the unit every time to change the USB cable? What if my cable breaks how can I put a new USB?

Assuming you're asking about your phone charging cable then No. Route the attached (included) cable where you'll always have access to the end and plug your phone cable into it. I've replaced my phone cable twice. The unit cable shouldn't need replacing.
    [ James  Dec 07, 2019 ]
    A
Correct. The USB cable plugs into the back of the unit, so if that cable failed, you will need to pull the unit and re-route a new cable. I installed a usb cable with a female receiver, then plugged my standard phone usb cable into that cord. So, if I sell the truck, I can easily take my phone cable and the new user can plug in their cable without any trouble. Also, provides a much needed additional length in the cord.

Only through Apple CarPlay or the Android equivalent.
    [ Travis  Oct 12, 2019 ]
    A
Not built-in. It has built-in Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. You can connect a smartphone and use its navigation app. I generally use Waze on my iPhone. I added a steering wheel control adapter, and use the voice control via Siri to launch Waze and navigate to a location. Works extremely well. Remember, though, this unit isn't top-of-the-line. The sound is clean but not stellar. If you're really into audio, you may want to step-up to a Kenwood unit (same manufacture as JVC). If you do that, I suggest getting one that includes HD-Radio.

The KW-M750 has two video RCA inputs in the back so if your old camera has the same RCA connection it should work.

I am not certain. It does have the necessary instructions to hook up the reverse indicator and accommodate a backup camera. I do not use a backup camera. I am sure the technical people at Crutchfield can easily walk you through it.

Hello, I can't say for sure in regards to your F150. What I can say is the unit has a RCA video input for backup camera intetgration. On my Subaru I had to connect a harness adaptor to my OE camera dash display and when connected to the JVC unit now has the factory camera video on both the OE screen and head unit. Try youtubing backup camera install for your truck might find a video to help you. On a other note for apple car play or andriod auto make sure your usb cable is rated as charge/sync. The cable that came with my samsung was charge only.
    [ Robert  Jun 27, 2019 ]
    A
Yes, but you need to tap into factory wiring. In addition to the usual power & speaker harness; and the steering wheel controls; the JVC has 2 more wires for REVERSE and PARK, and VIDEO inputs (composite jacks) for cameras. Typically, you have to connect those 2 wires to corresponding wires in the vehicle, and plug the composite video camera feed into the jack on the JVC. In your case, you might also have to locate and split the video signal to feed the JVC and your rear view mirror.

I had the same concern when buying this for my Silverado, but the mounting bracket that they recommended for my truck filled the space completely and it looks like the radio came from the factory.

I just had my headunit installed (KW-M750BT) and was not happy the siriusxm app does not work. Instead i have to use a satellite radio app that then shows XM Radio. The satellite radio app is not very user friendly. Is there a reason for this?

Just solve this problem with my kw m750bt. Xm radio tuner will not work on Sxm app only on the Sat. app. Your turn signals will not chime while listening to xm radio. You can use your factory Xm antenna. Purchase a Sxm tuner and a Sat1 cable and magic happens.
    [ ROBERT S  Jun 07, 2019 ]

I just installed this unit in my truck. When you say the "app" is not very user friendly, are you referring to the onscreen SiriusXM control/"button" or something else? I've noticed that these "controls" for various things are just loaded with features that most don't want to deal with and there's no way to modify them. But I setup my stereo with Sirius and put in my favs. In the upper left of the app, the 2 arrows allow for setup and some other features.
    [ Alan  Jun 07, 2019 ]
    A
I installed the unit myself without too much difficulty. Ufortunately, I cannot answer your question re: SiriusXM because I chose not to install the service. However, i can comment on the overall functionality of Android app. This unit does not have wi-fi so the user must use the USB 3 connection to launch the Android apps. I have found that the connection is not always successful the first time. This is frustrating. It is possible that the Android app itself is faulty just as you describe the SiriusXM app. Nevertheless, with the cost of Bluetooth and wi-fi chips today there is no reason why this unit (or any other unit for head-unit for that matter) does not come with wi-fi. The wi-fi feature seems to be only available on brand name units costing two and three times the price - unless you buy a no-name Chinese Android head unit.
    [ ARMANDO P P  Jun 07, 2019 ]
    A
I don't use Sirius, but that's how all of the apps on this radio work. For example, it doesn't actually play my Pandora independently - I have to play it on my phone. But once it is playing it I can control it and like/dislike songs or skip, search... It has all the functionality of a standalone app, but it's just basically mirroring your phone.
