I'm still having trouble getting everything to work. Some speakers working. But not all them when I put back together no sound at all. I had a person that does installation for a living was questioning why using PAC and not just harness. He said I had everything wired correctly except I had the PAC switch off for JVC (instead of on) he changed it and all but 1 speaker was working and like I said when we put all together nothing is working. I may have to send PAC back? Everyone at Crutchfield always helpful but sometimes I need someone to see what is going on.

One complaint though, had everything I wanted in my shopping cart, but waited until the next day to order. Overnight the sale price expired and Crutchfield would not honor the sale price. Little disappointed with that.

This has all the features and then some for me. Built in eq. is amazing. Plug in options are fantastic. Phone connect for me is quick. I did send mine back for a replacement because the sound was dropping on the rear speakers. When I first got the unit I had to reset it twice. Now this thing is sounding great. Must have gotten a dud. But truly don't want another option. 4 stars only because of the first unit. The kenwood that I looked at was the same unit but this one has the usb in the front for charging.
Pros: Fit,finish, sound are great.
Cons: Had to send the first one back. It was buggy.

When unpacking everything was as expected. The screen looks great.and the audio sounds great. Pretty nice eq possibilities. So far video playback has had no issue DVD or USB wise. The boot up time and the response time to pushing a button is a little laggy which I don't like as much. Navigation of the menus is not as straight forward as I would like either. Too much having to search for functions I'm trying to use. Overall I'm happy with my purchase but if I were able to try it out before buying I might not have picked this one due to the lag when switching functions.
Pros: Clear looking picture. Audio sounds great with many options of adjustment. USB supports most of my video files.
Cons: Touchscreen lags when moving through different pages and functions. Not easy to navigate through menus. Wish I could add my own photo as a background choice.

Easy Install

Great unit. I had Crutchfield wire my harness and this was a true plug and play event. As for the unit, it has a lot of bells and whistles that are above my level of knowledge. The only con is that there is a Firmware patch that they recommend you install. If it is installed wrong, it will made your unit unusable. I believe that Crutchfield should install the upgrade prior to shipping the unit to a buyer.
Pros: Sounds great. Lots of room for customization.
Cons: They should have installed the Firmware upgrade prior to selling and shipping to a buyer.

Great XJ Upgrade!
Kathryn from SAN FRANCISCO, CA on 11/30/2020
1999 Jeep Cherokee
I love this receiver! It works great with my Kenwood sub. Most difficult part of installing in my 1999 Jeep Cherokee XJ was cutting the sub-dashboard. I had previously installed the harness with the Pioneer I bought from Crutchfield, so connections wear easy. The replacement kit for dash bezel fits great, with the right brackets, and finally the receiver fills up the double high radio opening. I also installed the Boyo hidden license plate camera. There is a brief delay for it to come up after shifting into Reverse, and direct sun does wash out the display, but I expected that, as with tablets. My Google Pixel phone isn't supported for Android Auto (I checked Kenwood's site), but it connects via bluetooth after Firmware Upgrade so I'm good with that. Audio navigation will play through the speakers when in the Bluetooth mode. Bluetooth mic is sensitive and clear. Major shout out to the staff at Crutchfield! This is the only place I will buy my auto gear!
Pros: Great price for the features and fills up the radio opening in my dash.
Cons: Android Auto not supported for Pixel phone.

Stereo works amazing. My only issue is that I was under the impression that my factory microphone would be retained with the complete wiring/installation kit. Sadly it is not so I will have to take it back apart and install the microphone. But the touch screen works perfectly and the back up camera integration was seamless.
Pros: Touch screen, multiple inputs, camera ready, fully customizable
Cons: Some factory features not retained

Nice, but needs to be brighter
Crutchfield customer from Joppa, MD on 10/7/2020
I bought this unit to replace the stock 6 disc changer in my 2003 Mustang. The installation was very easy with the wiring harness and the accessory Posi-Product connectors made wire connections simple - no soldering or taping. The unit sounds great and has a lot of features for the money. My favorite features are the ability to continue plying CDs as well as use the Bluetooth connection for phone integration for playing music and making calls. The front panel USB connection is another option for playing music. My one complaint about the unit is significant to me. The display is not bright enough to see in my convertible when the top is down. I've adjusted the brightness and viewing angle to max but it's still not enough. Even with the top up in daylight, the display is hard to see clearly.
Pros: Features for the $$ Sound quality
Cons: Display too dim in daylight even maxed out

Robert from Tamarac on 9/13/2020
2003 Dodge Ram 1500
After problems with a DUAL DVD double din for my '03 Ram 1500, they let me upgrade to this JVC unit (pay the difference), I am very happy with this stereo. Much better than the DUAL, the screen is more touch sensitive making choices much easier as well. The DUAL was not turning on like 3 out of 5 times when starting my truck up....the illumination would strobe when putting my headlight and dimmer controls in certain positions...I think it had a power intake problem? No issues with this JVC stereo....good features, more options for adding Amps, which I added 1 more to my setup. I purchased the Remote for this unit online for $13.50. This JVC doesnt come with the remote. I always play The Fast & The Furious to test my home and vehicle audio setups....the stereo sounds and plays video good, and has good menu controls.
Pros: Sensitive Touch screen, Good controls and features, easy to install, looks good.
Cons: Doesnt come with the remote, gotta buy separately.

Just what I was looking for
Crutchfield customer from Greer, SC on 9/5/2020
Good entry-level touch screen. Graphics are adequate, not as hi-res as other units. I have seen the unit "pause" between commands, but only once or twice (switching between FM1/2/3 memory groups). This may be the slowness others write about, but is is not problematic. FM reception is good, the same as the older Kenwood head unit I replaced. Bluetooth setup with my phone (iPhone 6s) was easy and works well. Menu options are logical. Equalizer and set-up options are easy to get to from the places you would want them. Unlike my old button-operated Kenwood, the touchscreen makes the menus much more intuitive, esp. for adjusting the mic when used with the phone. The USB port on the front is very convenient for using Pandora or other audio sources with the phone. Installation and set-up was easy, no problems. I had a back-up camera installed, it works simply and well. If you buy the pre-made cabling / harness from Crutchfield, the install in a Honda Ridgeline or Toyota Camry (the two cars we swapped head units between) is about 30 minutes. Very happy with the purchase, just what I wanted.
Pros: Price Features Ease of use
Cons: Graphics are OK

Recieved Deffective Unit
Brendan from CARBONDALE, IL on 8/29/2020
2013 Chrysler 200
Let me begin by saying Crutchfield has some the best customer service I've ever seen. They were very helpful with exchanging this unit for a Pioneer with similar features and specs. I decided to purchase this stereo after reading about it's features and seeing many positive reviews. It was easy to install, the controls are user friendly, and it looked great in my car. Unfortunately, the unit i received was defective and had a broken CD player. When I tried playing a CD, the disc became stuck halfway inside the slot and "Loading Error" was displayed on the screen. I tried resetting the unit and tried playing multiple CDs with no luck. I'm very disappointed. As I mentioned, this unit is being exchanged.
Pros: Easy to Install User-Friendly
Cons: Broken CD Player

Useless features, random resets
Joseph from FORT DEFIANCE on 8/12/2020
2007 Ford F-150
I've been a loyal Crutchfield and JVC customer for well over 30 years, but I am definitely disappointed in this receiver. As stated in an earlier review, volume goes to 35 but there's no noticeable increase in volume past 25. There are several settings that seemingly make no difference to sound volume or quality. I have this unit in 2 of my vehicles and I've had trouble with BOTH units randomly resetting themselves and losing my settings. I then have to go through multiple menus and the equalizer to reset everything back to the way I had it. Really aggravating! It could be that a firmware update will fix this, but if done incorrectly it can render your head unit inoperable. I'm considering replacing my units with another brand.
Pros: touch screen
Cons: lots of useless features that make no difference on sound/volume Random resets that erase all of your settings,EQ, etc Screen difficult to see during daylight unless looking straight at it

Brian from VICTORVILLE, CA on 8/6/2020

Radio looks nice and has nice features but the volume level sucks. Volume goes up to 35 but from 25 to 35 there is no increase in volume at all. I hate it. I have the older model of this JVC receiver and I love it. I was going to buy the same one that I already have in my Tahoe but this newer model was only a few bucks more so I decided to try it out. I wish that I could return it and get something else. Don't buy this receiver.

Poor FM reception
Chuck from King George, VA on 7/27/2020
1997 Chevrolet Suburban
First of all let me say the folks at Crutchfield are great! Best customer service I have experienced in years. If you listen to FM frequently and don't live in an urban area near the stations you like, DON'T buy this unit. Although it is advertised as having one of the best FM sensitivity specs, I tried two units and they both had horrible reception, much worse than the GM unit I was replacing. As a last resort I decided to try a different manufacturer, and the fine folks at Crutchfield sent me a Pioneer unit (which had a worse FM sensitivity spec) and it works great! I live between 30 and 50 miles from where the FM stations I was trying to get are located. Even though I exchanged radios twice before I was happy, the folks at Crutchfield continued to help me, and even picked up the shipping. The CD player and the back up camera features worked fine. Hence the two star rating.
Pros: Lots of features
Cons: See title

2005 Ford F-150
Loved that I teaching my son the love of working on his truck, I'm in the process of giving him his 1st truck, I wanted him to have the ability of hands free calls, just in case, he, we, looked at several different styles, brands and features, this JVC fill almost everything we wanted, price, hands free phone, touch screen, back up camera, AM/FM/CD BT everything but GPS maps, but I bet we can find an interface app to mirror off his phone for that, we love the ability to put a custom screen on the unit, makes it even more personalized, we are super happy with our choice, Crutchfield made the process easy being able to compare different units, prices and features, I think my son understands now why I have done busness with them for years, I think he will be a loyal customer, he is already scowering the website looking at speakers and subwoofers, lol, I may have created a monster,
Pros: Everything went fairly smooth, love the features and the price
Cons: Over all everything went smooth, had a hiccup with the steering wheel controls but descovered ot was on our end,

I love the new radio. Easy to install ( except the diagram what I printed is either outdated or for another car) But a call to customer service we were able to figure out the wiring. Over I'm happy with it. Just wish that it had another USB port in back. But otherwise it got the 2 main features I needed.
Pros: Overall a good radio for the price point and it had the features I need.
Cons: The diagram was incorrect, but a quick call to tech support got the matter resolved.

JVC KW-V250BT DBL DIN DVD CD PLAYER AND BT. GREAT PRODUCT

Awesome radio and easy to install this is my first time installing a double din radio. I could have not purchased this product from a professional technician website that sells quality product. This is a great radio like I said easy to install I made my new kind of professional by buying a heat gun with the heat shrink self solder butt connectors from sopoby products. It was an awesome product by sopoby I would seriously recommend those butt connectors along with this JVC double DIN DVD CD player Bluetooth capable can connect up to two phones easily connect. All in all I believe I got a great radio as it is doing everything I needed it to do plus more. Thanks crutchfield.
Pros: Well of course you know the pros are you got a JVC radio and this is a great product . Does everything you need to do plus more at a great low discounted price.
Cons: That I didn't find this website when I first started getting into installing audio products in my vehicle shame on me. There are no cons to me I feel this radio is the best as I said it does everything I needed to do plus more has great power.

Chris from PARIS, TN on 5/25/2020
Very nice head unit for a great price! Was really surprised at how many audio control features this unit has that really seem to work from its 13 band eq to time alignment and tonality controls! If this thing is as durable as it is functional and sleek looking my son will be very happy with his first stereo on his 16th birthday! Very similar features to my Kenwood excelon which I paid 3 times more for. Very impressed with jvc unit and yes I realize same company makes Kenwood that makes jvc
Pros: Features functionality looks price audio controls
Cons: None as of now

Very easy to navigate between modes,( mostly FM to sirius) and back again. Plenty of presets for Sirius. Easy to read display. Like that there is a front facing USB port. Crutchfield support was great. Glad I called to get input on choice of units. Saved me $$$. Like the install kit that they assembled.
Pros: Easy to read display. Front USB port. Nice price. Easy to navigate from modes.

WARNING: This radio is incredibly glitchy. Ever since I originally installed it and I needed to restart it 5 times just so it would connect to my phone. Ever since it's periodically refused to connect to phones (especially iPhones), however today was my last straw. So in addition to this headunit I have a full soundsystem that includes a $200 Fosgate p3 10" subwoofer, that the headunit ,midway through a song, decided to stop powering. After making sure everything was getting power and signal I finally restarted the radio and it only then decided to actually send signal to my subwoofer again. I've had the same exact set-up for almost six months in my daily driver and this isn't even the first time that the radio's signal have glitched before I had a reoccurring issue where the subwoofer would play a different beat that the song I was playing when listening at lower volumes and the beat would just continue until the radio was restarted. Also if anyone's wondering this was all professionally installed and I checked over all the signal wires so that is not the issue
Pros: When it works it works pretty well and it's ability to swipe to switch songs and change volume is really useful for keeping your eyes on the road
Cons: Repetitively glitchy: sometimes refuses to connect to phones and literally made me think I blew my subwoofer

Looking at the description online gave me a very good understanding of what I was looking for. The price was right and their recommendation for wiring was exactly what I needed. Personally the wiring was a little bit beyond me but if you have a little more experience with it it should not be any problem. Great head unit. The eq settings this has is amazing, along with the factory amp in my car. Was able to upgrade speakers and this unit to make a really decent sound stage. I did all JVC 6.5's in doors and 6x9's in the deck. Factory amp is around 35-40 watts to each. Added a 800 watt sub amp and an 8 inch SKAR zvx and it's pretty darn amazing. For the price for this dashkit and the data retention harness it's a steal. You might find a more expensive unit but not much better without navigation. For me it's a no brainier.
Pros: The gestures for volume is great when you can't look down to find the buttons
Cons: Kinda dim on really bright days but not unusable. Could be brighter though.

Theres a slight goare with my g35 viewing angle and how i set it up whether its from 0 to -15 or so besides that its all plug and play for what ever car you may be hooking it up to and this gives good rms power for soeskers with 50w max anything above might wanna look into a higher head unit. The unit works well enough overall, but it's quite frustrating nonetheless. Bluetooth works great (both streaming and phone calls), at least once I got the mic positioned far enough from vibrations and close enough to me. I don't use the radio, XM or any of the apps, so no comment. I used DVD playback once, worked fine. Problems: 1: The interface is frustratingly slow. Each touch or button push takes 1-2 seconds. That alone makes me want to replace this radio. 2: USB MP3 playback is buggy. The unit started to lock up while playing one song (that plays fine on other hardware). The trouble is, it remembers and resumes from the same song (and locks up), so there was no way to use USB playback at all until I inserted a different flash drive to clear its internal cache. 3: Rear view camera display has an annoying warning banner that appears EVERY SINGLE TIME. It can be removed by touching the display, every time you back up. This banner blocks the most important part of my rear view. There is no configuration option to disable this.
Pros: Bluetooth phone and streaming
Cons: Slow, buggy, annoying

Easy 5 stars. Install 30-45 minutes max- for us with the existing goofball brackets- I did not catch that our existing brackets were fabricated by last owner when hubby removed old unit, so working with them we had to re-adjust a few times to get JVC set right. If not it may have taken us 15. Connecting was fast and painless with the wiring harness I ordered. Yippee!!! I am a 55 yo woman with little patience for technology though I wanted an upgrade to keep up with the grown kids who use my truck. Hands free phone and a little Pandora ;) It took me only a few minutes to the read manual and get my phone paired and Pandora set up. Not scary or head-achy at all. I was also worried about an ugly fit for my newly painted and super cute 2002 Tacoma so I wanted to be sure to add photos for those who come after me and that may have the same worries. It is a fantastic fit- Crutchfield NAILED IT!!! I did call Crutchfield's customer support a few times with basically stupid questions and dealt with three techs. Each and everyone was kind, patient, knowledgeable and outstanding. The absolute BEST customer service I have encountered in a VERY, VERY LONG TIME. Awesome!!! Especially now days when good C/S is such a rarity, I very much appreciated it. Bravo to all!! I can not attest to the long term of JVC yet but at this moment I am very pleased and will absolutely recommend Crutchfield. Mahalo flolks!!!

Very good receiver
Pros:
Cons: The one negative feature is that the back up camera will only work when there is power to the receiver. So you do one of two things: power up the receiver before you back out of some place OR continually leave the receiver on. The last receiver I got from Crutchfield (a Jensen) worked whenever I put the truck in reverse. Also, it's a 4 step procedure to turn the receiver off. Kind of annoying.

2003 Toyota 4Runner
Did a bunch of research here for replacing the stock stereo in my recently acquired 2003 Toyota 4Runner. I bought the refurb version of this and love it. The interface takes a bit to get used to but, really, how often are you in the setup menus anyway. Day to day use is great, touchscreen is responsive albeit a bit putzy. I ordered the steering wheel controls and rediharness as well - install could not have been easier with the step by step instructions, all needed adapters and harnesses. The $ for the rediharness is a no brainer - made things totally plug and play. I also replaced the 6x9 front door and 6.5" rear door speakers and it sounds great. Plenty of punch and bass. Connection to my iPhone 8+ is quick and easy. Calls are clear and with the microphone placed up on the top left of the windshield next to the sun shade I'm easily heard on the other end. Great service, great prices.
Pros: Easy install (spend the $ for the rediharness!!) Features FM reception Phone / bluetooth pairing
Cons: None

2012 Ford F-250
Bought this mostly for the hands free capabilities (factory radio has no bluetooth) and the spec for fm sensitivity looked to be about the best. The hands free works just OK. For calls it works fairly well, and has plenty of adjustment for mic and speaker levels. I haven't got any complaints from the person on the other end. The way the radio features were advertised, it looked like it could handle hands free from 2 phones at a time via bluetooth. I can't say for if this actually works. I know it works with one phone plugged into the USB & the other connected via bluetooth. I haven't had much success maintaining a connection when streaming bluetooth, so I have ended up just using the USB port to stream I heart radio. The downside is that the radio goes into Ipod mode and doesn't display any song info on the screen. Also, with my Iphones, it doesn't appear to get any data from my contacts. It does show contact info when using an android phone, though. The main reason for choosing this particular radio was the advertised FM sensitivity. When not on longer trips, I prefer to listen to local am/fm radio stations. This radio is terrible compared to the factory radio when it comes to over the air reception. Stations I regularly listened to clearly are now mixed with static. A lot of the time I just end up streaming local radio because the reception is so poor. Probably going to look into Crutchfield's return policy. One last thing, screen is basically unreadable in daylight
Pros: hands free works better than the factory radio (that didn't come with it)
Cons: AM/FM reception Bluetooth hands free calling Screen has terrible glare in daylight.

Good sound. Not so easy installation.
Crutchfield customer from Henrietta, TX on 9/12/2019
2006 Chevrolet Silverado 2500/3500
Unit looks good installed and sounds good. Controls are not straightforward. Once you learn them, it's not so bad. On my 2006 Chevrolet Silverado (2500 HD) the mounting instructions stated I had to use a hack saw to cut out a bracket under the dash. That was unnerving, let alone very difficult to do - and I've installed a number of stereos before. It would have helped immensely if Crutchfield would have a "before and after" picture of the area that is being cut on. The picture provided also failed to include the bottom 2 corners that have to be trimmed in order for the unit to fit. The sound of the initial chime when you start the engine or leave the key in the ignition when getting out is nothing short of annoying in sound. I wish there was an easy way to disable it (the chime) or at least turn the volume down. What ever you do, spend the money on the ready harness. It will save you a mile of headaches.
Pros: Good sound; lots of features and controls; Looks good in the dash.
Cons: May be difficult for some to figure out and remember out to get around in the settings. Difficult mounting in 2006 Chevy Silverado - requires hack-sawing.

Just OK. Has more issues than I would like.
Crutchfield customer from Ellicott City, MD on 7/25/2019
Bought this after Boss unit that had an echo of caller's voice for everyone that called. This one has a ton of features and seems to be of better quality than the Boss. But there are quite a few downsides. Screen needs to be put on max brightness to see in sunlight, no dials/button for on/off and volume. The menu system requires you to go through too many screens just to get what you want. Especially if turning off the unit - requires you to go through two menus. Also the screen froze up once already. Had to turn car on/off. Also has issues sometimes with bluetooth streaming where it stops playing like a notification is coming through, which it was not. I have it hooked up to the axxess unit which is nice for the steering controls and the factory aux port. Most of the time when it works, it is a really nice unit. Callers can hear me without any issues. Haven't tried the DVD playback or rear camera yet.
Pros: Many options for sound setup. Clear phone calls. Front USB for phone charging. Decent touchscreen. Fits well with Metra adapter kit.
Cons: Screen hard to see if sunlight is hitting it. Frozen screen requiring on/off of vehicle. No on/off or volume buttons. Too many menus to go through. Bluetooth streaming interruptions. No contacts are uoloaded for my Moto android phone even though this is an android unit.

Love the new JVC system

Nice little system, well designed with great features. The installation was very easy with the already prepped cables. The integration of an aftermarket backup camera was a little tricky, but after a quick call to tech support the issue was solved in notime. .
Pros: Easy to use and install with the already configured cables.
Cons: None

Nice, item but some features need work
Chuck from Newark Valley, NY on 7/3/2019
2012 Toyota Corolla
The FM is not as good as factory. The random feature from the USB key does not do a very good job at being random, I hope there will be an update. The backup camera has an annoying quirk, it insists on showing the JVC logo when you backup up after just starting the car, then it goes blank; can't it just keep showing the backup camera all the time when backing up?? There are a lot of nice features in the unit, although I wish there was a mute button, at least with USB there is a stop. The Crutchfield kits are great, and I got fast help with a question about the kits and some wires that were not documented. The module to interface with the factory steering wheel controls works fine.
Pros: Lots of options to tailor
Cons: FM is weaker than factory. Random of a USB key it not very random, many songs missed.

Not reliable and very finicky media requirements
John from New England, USA on 6/27/2019
2014 Hyundai Elantra
So I ordered this radio in April and installed it with the help of the kit and parts provided by Crutchfield. Now I need to preface this with an understanding that my rating this product is NOT a reflection of Crutchfield.com or any of its employees. This radio is extremely unreliable. On many occasions it will "lock-up" with no real detectable pattern as to why. I thought it might have to do with heat, and perhaps the fan unit was obstructed by the wiring. I routed the wires through some mesh loom like you would use in a computer tower, making sure to keep the airway clear and it still will lock up randomly. The option is either hit the reset button on the front or turn off the car and wait for the power to the PAC-4 to drop so it will reset itself. Also, the limitations on watching video from a USB drive is extreme. You have to use a very specific codec and format to even see the video then you have to figure out the audio codec so you can hear it. This radio has a lot of potential and some very nice features but the reliability and difficulty getting video to work makes it not worth more than the one star. I do however, have to STRESS that this is not a reflection of Crutchfield, if I could afford to buy something different to replace this I would absolutely use Crutchfield.com for the purchase and I recommend others to do the same, just not this radio or perhaps the manufacturer.
Pros: Looks good Easy to install
Cons: UI locks up and system freezes at random No Firmware update to address issues Video and Audio Codec needed to display video from a USB device is near impossible to make work.

Awesome head unit

2007 Mitsubishi Galant
Ordered this stereo to replace a stock unit in an 07 Mitsubishi Galant that was given to my daughter. Install took about 3 hours as I also installed a back up camera. Shipment was very timely and radio really made my factory speakers sound great. My daughter was able to sync her phone very easily and now she is really loving it. Everything provided made install very easy and just like some others mention the display can be a little hard to see but it's the same with any unit if the light hits it at a certain point so it's really not a big deal breaker. My daughter's friends even loves the way her system sound and now wants their stereo upgraded.
Pros: Great sounds Easy install Connects to phone easy
Cons: None worth mentioning

Tons of bang for the buck
Troy from Portland, OR on 5/30/2019
2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
This is a feature packed unit for the price although the user interface is not the most intuitive. I have had no trouble viewing the display in any light. There are two settings that have to be adjusted with regards to brightness. I had to spend considerable time adjusting the audio settings to get a decent sound (though it can't seem to output much bass to my Kicker speakers; will probably need a sub). With that said, I have had a few issues with regards to quality. The unit doesn't always pair with my iPhone 8 Plus and even loses the pairing some times. After ending a call, the unit goes to bluetooth audio regardless of which source I had it set to before the call. The H/U froze completely once and I had to turn off my pickup and start it back up to fix the problem.
Pros: Price and features
Cons: Reliability

Pros: Ease of use and installation. Does everything I wanted it to do. Volume control buttons instead of a knob/touch screen.
Cons: No off button on the main screen/unit. You have to go into two or three back screens to shut the unit down completely.

Great radio, had the volume turned up to 30 for hours and hours on a long road trip... no problems. Bought the JVC 6.5" speakers also... really boosts the sound. The cons are, it did drop or not connect to the iphone blue tooth a time or two. But turning the vehicle on/off corrected the problem. Hasn't dropped or not connected since the first few times it occurred, maybe the problem self corrected. The screen is a little hard to see in the morning sunlight but never in the setting sun. On the plus side, it wasn't suppose to be compatible with an older ipod I had, but it connected no problem.
Pros: With the addition of the JVC 6.5" speakers, the sound is big and clear. The radio also worked with an older ipod that wasn't on the compatible list.
Cons: Although is hasn't repeated the problem again, it did drop the iphone and/or didn't connect with the blue tooth several times over the first few days after installation. Since then, no problems. Hasn't reoccurred after the first few days and I've had the radio installed 3 weeks now.

Tough install
Crutchfield customer from Toms River, NJ on 5/14/2019
The JVC unit is pretty good. Good CD player, Good Radio. Very complicated screen control. The install instruction were not very good, for the Hummer H2. 1. Getting to dash apart was a pain in the ass. 2. I was not warned that not connecting the Park Switch Wire would disable the steering wheel buttons. Also, no instruction on connecting this wire. Too late now dash closed up. It was one of the harder install I have ever done. Took about 5 hours. Your staff on the order phone was very good. Regards, Henry
Pros: Good unit
Cons: Bad instruction

This unit is a nice enough unit and a good price point but it is far from a turn key installation if you want all the bells and whistles beware. I purchased all the recommended accessories to get the backup camera to work, the XM radio and steering wheel controls. I did get the steering wheel controls to work with the provided accessories. I did ask and was told it would work. The sales person was going by the product info so I can understand that. Still not happy. The tech support was good and this is where I found out that everything wasn't exactly as advertised. A nice cheap unit but you have to ask question (I did) but it still didn't help. You have to pull wires, after finding them in the vehicles schematics for the rear camera trigger and the wires for the camera. This is a major job and you need to disassemble a lot of the dash and interior. The XM doesn't work with the unit so I have to buy another receiver. To be fair the XM works but you have now control from the head unit. Just be careful.

Slow
Andrew from Elmwood Park, NJ on 4/16/2019
2013 Subaru Outback
All in all it's great stereo with lots and lots of cool features. Giving it 3 stars for being very slow. If you have multiple folders on USB, it is very annoying and slow to browse. If you have folders inside the folders, it can be very frustrating experience. Switching modes is also quite slow considering the fact that it has so many of them. If you prefer switching modes from the wheel, you may need to press Mode button 10 times in order to get to the desired mode, and like I said, it's not fast (and it has nothing to do with aswc-1). Another reason for 3 stars is it's impossible to see the screen in a sunny daylight. You have to move your head and distract from driving in order to try and see anything on the screen.
Pros: Has many excellent features Mic is very good and people don't hear road noise.
Cons: It is very slow for 2019 Can't see screen in daylight

I had to do some modifications to the dash kit to get it to fit in my 2008 Toyota 4Runner with this unit. I definitely recommend having them build the harness if you want to use your steering wheel controls. Buy New Speakers...
Crutchfield customer from Dixon, IL on 4/1/2019
2008 Hummer H3
Bought this to replace the stock Monsoon unit in my 2008 H3. This thing has a lot of bang for the buck. I have a different car app for my phone so I didn't miss Android Auto. The sound is great; there are a dozen different ways to tweak the audio for pretty much every environment, it has everything but a parametric EQ (and what it does have gets close enough). If you buy this expecting a fast fix for a crappy stock system, buy new speakers because it *will* show you how bad your originals are. Get acquainted with the settings on this immediately after you get it installed; just reading the manual isn't enough. It does have the quick-shortcut button that you can program but there are still a ton of menus. That's not a slight; it does a ton of things, and almost all of them are related to either audio or how to get to the audio. There are really no gimmicks here; the sound lift actually does what it purports to do, the EQ is one of the best you can get at this price range, physical volume buttons, everything "just works". ...except that absolute joke of a phone app. JVC knows audio. They do *not* know phone apps. Having one was one of the reasons I bought this and so it's also the reason I'm docking it a star; I mean the app is really that bad. Like, the 30 seconds it takes you to see its sorry 2.8-star-rated self in the Play Store? They didn't even put that much time into it, so you shouldn't either.
Pros: Great sound, great price point, jammed full of features, no gimmicks, and of course the always-stellar Crutchfield support.
Cons: Put some effort into the phone app or don't offer one. You're not doing anyone any favors by faking it.

This project started because I wanted a back up camera for my 2010 F150, and decided that I didn't want to have the monitor sitting on my dashboard. I wanted an double DIN in dash head unit, that played CD's, had Bluetooth abilities, and auxiliary input for my MP3 player. I have substantial hearing loss in the 3 higher frequency's and I am not any kind of "music junkie". After discussing my expectations with Garret, I selected the JVC KW-250BT. This unit fit my requirements perfectly, and even with my tin ears, I have to say it is a huge improvement over the factory radio. I mostly use a memory stick for my music now, and the only very minor downside is that it is somewhat slow when looking for a specific song to play. I did the install myself and found it to be very easy with the instructions that Crutchfield provides.

I wanted to allow a bit of time to pass from date of purchase 030419 and install before a review. I received what I perceived as good value, timely delivery and professional handling of my order. I chose to order there discounted gear and while it was invaluable in the install process, there were a few dislikes. 1) The metra face plate is not quite a absolute fit / finish oem style look 2) The antenna lead I was charged for was totally unnecessary for this H/U 3) The directions emailed were insufficient 4 star review for Crutchfield. 3 star for H/U. What I'm frustrated with is the H/U it's self. Every bit of the harness was ohm and continuity tested as well as solder, heat shrunk & electrical taped. After the initial install the H/U seemed to have an inheritanly audible (only when actively playing FM radio) poor reception, almost as if inability to lock on to certain channels. USB connector provided an auditory delight. This to was short lived, as there was a ever slight distortion, coloring to all the cars speakers. Wanting to give this H/U a fair chance i ordered direct from Polk Audio a full complement of db6 series speakers & Metra harness' from Amazon. Installed those approx. a week + later. The hiss, distortion of the signal was still present. So, I installed Pioneer ts-t110 tweeters. I thought for sure this would get rid of the signal pre amp/amp discoloration. Nope! This H/U is either wonky, defective or adds an output discoloration of its own t
Pros: It is easy to install. Attractive. Economical.
Cons: The eq seems ineffective. The preamp/amp stage internals of H/U high level output seems cold & lifeless. The radio reception is dodgy on this H/U I received. Overall I'm disappointed with the purchase. Lol! After installing this much stuff in my car it should be a absolute joy to listen to but nope. I'm running only the H/U stand alone. No external amp.

Love it. It really woke up my factory speakers. Only thing it's missing that I would've liked is a mute button. Not a biggie just would've been nice.

Easy Installation w/Kit

2010 Jeep Liberty
Recently purchased this from Crutchfield as a gift to our oldest son from our youngest son. Installation was a breeze with the installation kit Crutchfield offered. Put it in a 2009 Jeep Patriot and he's been loving it ever since. We haven't added the backup camera "yet" but suspect that will be a future purchase. Ordering this from Crutchfield gave us the confidence it would work in his Jeep and we'd have the proper parts right off the bat.

Outstanding features and quality
James from New Tripoli, PA on 3/7/2019
2002 Ford Ranger
Many features, touch screen is convenient. Installed in Ford Ranger. The source options are great, I use a USB stick with MP3s on it. The power is clean, no discernible distortion, never seems pushed. The equalizer and sound options are tremendous. Only two complaints in an otherwise outstanding receiver, 1) The screen can be difficult to see in bright light, 2) making a circular motion on the touchscreen to change volume is cumbersome. I just use the +/- buttons. Highly recommend this.
Pros: Excellent sound. Very rich feature set, options are very easy to find and manage.
Cons: Display could be brighter sometimes. Drawing a circle on the touchscreen to change volume can be tricky, but there are separate +/- buttons to do the same.

Great head unit for the price

2006 Dodge Charger
Great head unit for the price! It really brought my factory speakers to life. If you are on a budget but want a decent receiver this is the one. Easily installs when you have the Crutchfield crew pre wire the harness for you. Crutchfield saved me hundreds of dollars on installation, which means more money for subs!
Pros: Price is affordable
Cons: Video quality is not the greatest.

Solid unit

2006 Toyota Sienna
Once again, Crutchfield has not disappointed. Have purchased multiple units over the years and it has always been a good experience. Very satisfied with this unit.
Pros: Superior fm tuner in comparison to the comparable Pioneer unit. Better DVD functionality as well. Touchscreen is much more responsive than I anticipated as well.
Cons: Button colors are not adjustable, which I somehow overlooked before purchasing. Not an issue for me though.

Let me start by saying the Crutchfield customer service is the best I have ever received in terms of any buying experience. I bought this in October of 2018 so I've had a few months to use the product. I previously had a JVC head unit that would play mp3 files via the front USB input but would not play higher fidelity FLAC files, and didn't have the larger display or bluetooth connectivity. So my primary use for this stereo is to play FLAC files in the car via the USB input while having the convenience of bluetooth to make hands-free phone calls and the luxury of a larger touchscreen display. After almost five months of daily use, I am less than happy with the performance of this unit to play files via USB. First of all, nowhere in the documentation does it mention anything about brands of USB drives. However, the only drives that perform consistently for me are the plain-jane run of the mill SanDisk usb's. If I use any other brand of media, I get constant error messages, album artwork will not display, the device cannot be read, etc. When it does work, it sounds great. However, trying to find a song or album or even artist via the abysmal file search system will leave you pulling your hair out. Pair that with a display that cannot be seen on even bright overcast days, and it becomes worthless to try to even search. So the best I can do is to push the forward button until I get to the album or track that I am searching. Disappointed by JVC. 2 Points for 2 yr warranty.
Pros: Sounds good.
Cons: FLAC support via USB is hit or miss, poor file search, dim display cannot be seen on bright days

Very Pleased overall, Installation and directions were great, also called and talked to your technical support folks about wiring, and very happy, just wish I added the back up camera as this radio has this feature, so I am looking into doing that next. Thanks Crutchfield...
Pros: Customer Service, Price, Sound Quality both Radio Reception, and playing MP3 from CD as well as Memory Stick...
Cons: Only one feature that I liked with the stock Radio, and one I have will my other Auto is the speed auto volume, that the volume increases with higher speeds and road noise automatically, as I am on the highways where this is very useful, this is a minor detail...

Service/Price/Ease of Installation

2011 Dodge Avenger
I bought this stereo because I wanted to add a backup camera. Bonus, because now I have a DVD player too. Crutchfield makes it super easy for do it yourself installation. Awesome step by step procedures, plus they make sure you get the proper wiring harness and tools. All at a great price. Amazon can't compete with Crutchfield on these products. I also bought a stereo for by daughter prior to this purchase and same thing...quality and ease. My wife then purchased one for our truck but I haven't installed that one...another JVC product.
Pros: Super easy step by step installation
Cons: None

This stereo is pretty nice! The Bluetooth works without a hiccup which is a nut for me and friends and family can hear me well with the included microphone. I haven't been able to use the USB feature but that is an issue with android more than the radio. My friends iPhone worked great plugged I to the USB. The only feature I haven't been able to use yet is the DVD player since I wired that part wrong and I am still in the middle of wiring up backup cam. The 4 stars is based on what I have used. It's a little slow but nothing major. On a budget I would buy again.
Pros: Bluetooth sound Interface
Cons: USB only works with iPhone. a little slow

Great sound, USB slow and so far only reads mp3 format. Not compatible with LG v20 except via bluetooth and even then I have to reconnect it every few days. Dvd so far only reads dvd format, tried divx, mkv with no luck. Back up camera misses frames, same set up as my last vehicle and pioneer back up connection is much better same camera.
Pros: Great sound, easy install.
Cons: USB and dvd playback very limited. Backup camera connection is glitchy.
