About the JVC RM-RK62M
Keep your marine receiver safe
JVC's RM-RK62M wired marine remote control lets you manage the music on your boat from a convenient spot — without exposing your marine receiver to the elements. When connected to a compatible JVC marine stereo, this IPX7-compliant remote can handle track selection, fast-forward, rewind, volume, mute, and source selection while also handling sun, salt, and spray. You can use it day or night, thanks to the back-lit buttons, and you can even connect up to six remotes in a series on larger vessels.
JVC RM-RK62M reviews
Limited installation data provided, Crutchfield reps not much help with conflicting guidance provided. The soft key approach means you have to push and hold each button/ key and WAIT for the receiver to respond- I would like it to be a faster response BUT...this could be a slow processor in the JVC receiver...... Also it would be great if a boat install wiring harness (longer than the 6 in. provided) was available for purchase....trying to splice in wire extensions to the ' hair strand' size wire from this remote is not easy.
Pros: looks ok seems to work ok with some patience
Cons: difficult to connect to the JVC 97MBS radio/receiver with mis information from Crutchfield- finally got it to work but still not sure its wired properly. Buttons slow to respond- ya have to hold button in, and wait for r response by rec'r.

This remote was easy to install and performs great with my JVC head unit. Installed on a 2002 Crownline.
Pros: Easy install and operation
Cons: No digital display

Unit is good for source/volume remote control but lacks key capabilities when using Bluetooth capabilities on the base unit. Unit replaced existing Clarion wired remote in a 2" instrument space. Boat is 2002 Mastercraft PS 190
Pros: Unit fit in the existing 2" control opening, but is oversized for standard 2" space.
Cons: Unit lacks readout to assist in source related information. Also, no menu capability in remote. Price excessive for existing capabilities. No extension cable available to seamlessly connect to base unit.

I am using this on my motorcycle handlebar to control my JVC digital receiver. It is perfect for finger tip or thumb contol and I never have to reach for my receiver. Making my ride much safer. It will take some fabrication to make this work but in my case all it was is a couple washer and a plastic clamp around the mirror post. It is just what I have been waiting for!
Pros: Large buttons can be controlled with gloves Back lit buttons for night time control
Cons: Wires are way to short
