The Polk db104DVC 10" subwoofer features a polypropylene cone, shaped like a dish for extra rigidity. The cone is encircled by a tough Santoprene rubber surround that shrugs off the harmful effects of exposure to sun, moisture, and extreme temperature changes — this sub will stand the test of time. The Kapton voice coil former is triple-vented so the sub stays cool when the bass gets hot.
The db104DVC comes with dual 4-ohm voice coils for system wiring flexibility — it can be wired for 2-ohm (coils wired in parallel), 8-ohm (coils wired in series), or 4-ohm impedance (each coil wired independently). And you don't have to limit these speakers to your car — they've passed tough environmental testing that certifies them for marine use as well.
Note: If you are wiring this DVC sub for lower impedance, make sure that your amp is compatible. Most car amplifiers are stable down to 2 ohms in standard mode, or 4 ohms in bridged operation.

Dual 4-ohm Voice Coils: This woofer features dual 4-ohm voice coils that offer flexibility in wiring. When the voice coils are wired in parallel with each other, the woofer presents a 2-ohm mono load. When the voice coils are wired in series with each other, the woofer presents an 8-ohm mono load. In addition, each coil may be connected to a different amplifier channel and each channel will see a 4-ohm load.
Polypropylene Cone: The cone is made with polypropylene, which provides durability while being lightweight and rigid. The cone is supported by a vented cone/coil coupler, which stiffens the cone for greater mechanical stability and lower distortion.
Santoprene Surround: The Santoprene surround is resistant to extremes in temperature, humidity, and exposure to sunlight for excellent long term reliability.
NOMEX Spider: The flat NOMEX Spider allows extended linear motion while providing highly reliable mechanical and thermal stability.
Triple-vented Kapton Voice Coil Former: Triple venting of the 4-layer Kapton Voice Coil Former, Cone/Coil Coupler and Pole Piece contribute to the high power handling and reliability of the db Series subs.
Marine Certified: Polk db Series speakers are built to withstand exposure to moisture and UV rays, so they work well in boats and cars.
Recommended Sealed Box Volume: Polk recommends using this woofer in a sealed enclosure with an internal volume of 0.66 cu/ft.
Recommended Ported Box Volume: Polk recommends a ported enclosure with an internal volume of 1.25 cu/ft. One 4" diameter x 12" long port should be used with a 1.25 cu/ft enclosure.
Power Handling: Per Polk, the label on the woofer magnet incorrectly lists a continuous power handling of 225 watts RMS, and a peak power handling of 450 watts. The manual and box correctly list a continuous power handling of 270 watts RMS, and a peak power handling of 540 watts.
