Don't be shy with the power

The highly efficient speakers will work well with an aftermarket radio, but keep in mind that they will really show off their stuff with a lot of power from an aftermarket amp. The titanium-coated 5"x7" polymer woofer cone, backed by a space-efficient magnet, delivers the full sound you've been hungry for. A low-profile, lightweight carbon basket features excellent venting to keep these speakers cool when you're really pouring on the power. And your music's high frequencies will soar, thanks to delicate handling by the newly designed 1" Terylene fabric dome tweeter.

Grilles are not included; the factory grilles should be suitable for most applications.

The speakers have met my expectations. I have a Kenwood radio with no amp. I can turn it up all the way and the speakers still sound good.

Pros: Installation and sound quality.

Cons: None

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I'll give 'em 5 stars. I had them running full range while I was still building my modest system and they handled it fine with surprising lowend clarity for their size. I have used 5x7 speakers (quality speakers by other manufacturers) in other systems before and never had any real complaints when taking their size into consideration. I was a bit surprised when these exceeded my expectations for their overall tone. The highs are crisp without being harsh, solid mids and the lows are tight. I find them to be well balanced. Once I added a sub and a bit more power the Polks MM572's sit well in the mix and have great output. I have 4 of these installed in a '13 Mustang Boss 302 with the base factory stereo, JL Audio HD900/5 (100x4/500x1), JL Audio Stealthbox. Crossover filter for the Polks set at 60hz.

Pros: Durable construction, light weight, balanced/clear tone, good lows for their size

Cons: If any I'd say a bit pricey but once hearing I'm not upset that I spent the money

Features

Mounting Applications: Polk Audio describes these speakers as 5x7, but they also fit many 6x8 applications. Please enter your vehicle information to confirm fit.

Dynamic Balance: Dynamic Balance is a proprietary Polk Audio technology using laser imaging to determine what combination of speaker materials create the least amount of resonance. Eliminating resonance in speakers results in a wide, smooth response and low distortion.

Rubber Surrounds: The inner and outer woofer surrounds are Santoprene rubber, to keep water from leaking through the speaker.

Swivel Tweeters: The tweeter material is Terylene, a brand name of polyethylene terephthalate (PET).

Neodymium Magnets: The speakers' neodymium magnets offer exceptional strength to performance ratio and are small and lightweight.

Basket: The speaker baskets are fiberglass reinforced ABS, lightweight and corrosion resistant.

Crossover: The crossover components are coated with epoxy to prevent corrosion. The low pass filter is 1st order (6 dB/octave) and the high pass filter is 2nd order (12 dB/octave).

Ultra-Marine Certified: Polk MM1 Series speakers are tested to withstand exposure to salt-fog, UV rays, and humidity, so they'll work well in boats and cars. They also include stainless mounting hardware for corrosion resistance.

Drainage: The speaker should be mounted so the slots along the perimeter of one side of the basket are at the bottom, so any trapped water can drain.

I can't say exactly. I had them running full range until I got my sub hooked up and they sounded full and I was surprised at the clarity of the lows for the size they are. Now with the sub hooked up I have them cut off around 60hz and let the sub handle the rest. I feed them their full recommended 100 watts and they eat it up and sound great. [ BRIAN  Sep 12, 2017 ]
