Polk Audio PB SC85
Douglas from MADISON, AL on 11/6/2019
Worked as intended. These are a little sturdier than some others I used in my pre-drywall rough-in. The plastic straps are fairly robust. Good product.

Knowing what these are makes the difference. They are templates for sheetrock installers to make cutouts. They serve little to no strength. Based on this they work great. Install easy and versatile.

Not as good as the round brackets by Polk. The round ones didn't crack...these did. The straps don't snap in as nice on these.
Pros: Just OK
Cons: Cracks easy

Bracket Review
Purchaser from New Jersey on 9/19/2014
Forms are plastic and relatively easy to install. The heads from the screw provided broke off way to easily when screwing into studs. These really are only useful as in my case where you want your sheetrock installers to do the cutouts so everything lines up well, otherwise they are not needed.
Pros: Easy Installation, tabs break easily and allow for easy measurements.
Cons: Plastic is flimsy. Screw heads broke with little force. Price is too expensive.

Easy Installation
Darren from Raleigh, NC on 8/1/2014
The bracket is as described and provides a better mounting then just placing in a sheet rock cut out.
Pros: Easy installation and a firmer hold for the in-wall speaker.
Cons: None

Necessary?
GabeP from Horseshoe Bay, TX on 8/25/2013
Straight-forward, simple installation in a new-build home. Only complaint is that the drywall screws provided with the brackets are a bit substandard. All but two of them broke off at the head when driving them into the studs. Not expensive to replace them, but it did result in an inconvenient trip to the hardware store. House is not complete yet, so not sure how much of a difference these will make vs installing the RC85i speakers without brackets. Will be nice to have the holes in the drywall pre-located though.
Pros: Easy installation
Cons: Cheap screws.

are these really needed?
DH from sioux falls on 5/25/2013
bought these to go with speakers. they seem cheap and expensive considering how flimsy they are. hopefully they make installing easier. basement not done, so speakers aren't in yet, only the brackets have been installed.
Pros: should(?) make for an easier install
Cons: The price seems like plenty for some flimsy plastic brackets and a few screws.

low value

I liked this bracket slightly better than the PB65 size due to the tab and slot side wing design instead of machine screws. However, you'll spend more time installing and adjusting these brackets than the actual speakers. For the price, you get some molded plastic, which seem to be relatively low cost to produce. When you screw in the drywall style screws to the studs, the bracket gets pulled out of level or square, as the screw drifts in the wood. The screws that came with it, will break off w/ minimal torque, so discard those and use drywall screws. If the whole bracket and side wings were molded one piece, it would be better. Installing the bracket before drywall will cause you to have to cut and line up the drywall hole precisely with the bracket, but if you skip the bracket and cut the hole in the drywall later, then the hole position is less critical. My "open box" bracket pair did not come with hardware or instructions. Also, I had to by a pair of the brackets for 1 center channel MC85, so I wasted 1 bracket. Can they sell open box brackets in singles?
