Polk makes it easy to integrate the PSW10 with your existing system. You can hook your receiver up to the sub either through the line-level or the speaker-level connections. And the continuously variable low-pass crossover lets you tailor the sound to match the PSW10 with the rest of your speakers.

Features

Driver: The PSW10 uses a 10" Dynamic Balance polymer composite cone driver for deep, smooth response and low distortion. For longer excursion, the woofer uses a hi-roll foam surround.

Not Video Shielded: The subwoofer is not magnetically shielded, so it is not recommended to place it next to TVs and video monitors.

Amplifier: The subwoofer is powered by a high-current amplifier producing 50 watts RMS/100 watts dynamic power.

Enclosure: The PSW10 features non-resonant MDF construction with 3/4" baffle and internal bracing for deep bass impact with superior detail and accuracy.

3-Way Power Switch: The subwoofer has a 3-way power switch on the rear panel. You can select Auto, which turns the unit on automatically when an input signal is received and off a few minutes after the signal stops; On, which keeps the unit on until it is switched off, and Off, which turns the unit completely off (instead of placing it in a standby mode). The LED power indicator glows green when the unit is on and red when the unit is off.

Volume Control: The PSW10 has a rotary volume control to adjust the volume of the subwoofer relative to the other speakers in the system.

Phase Switch: The subwoofer's phase switch allows you to select normal or reverse. If the bass sounds muddy or unclear, toggling the phase control can sometimes strengthen the bass attack.

Low-Pass Filter: The PSW10 offers a continuously variable low-pass filter, adjustable from 80-160 Hz. Note: The manual incorrectly lists the frequency range as 80-200Hz.

Inputs and Outputs Notes

Line Inputs: The subwoofer has gold plated left and right RCA Line Level inputs. These inputs are for use with electronics featuring stereo pre-amp line outputs or an LFE subwoofer output. If your receiver or processor only has a single subwoofer line output, either the left or right input jack can be used.

Note: If the filtered Low Frequency Effects (LFE) output of an A/V receiver or processor is connected to the PSW10's line inputs, low frequency signals will be filtered by the A/V receiver/processor and the PSW10. When this happens the PSW10's low-pass filter setting should be as high as possible (160Hz) to minimize the interaction between the filters.

Speaker Level Input/Output: The subwoofer has spring clips for the speaker level input and output. The subwoofer's low-pass filter takes the low frequencies (based on the setting of the filter) and passes a full-range signal out to the speakers. This is the recommended method of connecting the subwoofer with a Polk Audio RM-series Home Theater speaker package and other satellite speaker systems.

Specification Note

Frequency Response: The overall frequency response for the subwoofer is 35-200 Hz, and the -3 dB frequency response is 40-160 Hz.

Warranty Notes

Amplifier: The warranty on the amplifier is 3 years parts and labor.

Driver: The warranty on the driver is 5 years parts and labor.

I already have a polk speaker system but the sub went out after 12 years. this was a good match and a great price. [ dann  Dec 12, 2019 ]

I have two of them. One of them stopped working and replacing it was more cost effective than repairiing it. [ Moritz  Oct 07, 2019 ]

I chose the Polk PSW10 subwoofer because so many meaningful reviews described it as just the product for my need. And I chose Crutchfield for many reasons: TRUSTWORTHINESS: after having to seek the intervention of PayPal to recover my money from a transaction on EBay. SAPIENCE: Crutchfield folks know their oats. SERVICE: Free instructional articles and diagrams. Free delivery to Puerto Rico. PRICE: Crutchfield was the cheapest. If they are not the cheapest, they'll match any bona fide offer. I'd like to help get the info you need, but I don't have a scale. I lifted it and can only give you an estimate of the weight. I say it's about 15 - 20 lbs. It's a great sub-woofer, even at lower volumes. Hope that helps at least a little! Thanks, Al

If you have a spot on your receiver to plug a subwoofer in then this will work great. Love mine. ??
[ phillip  Oct 13, 2019 ]

The Crutchfield advisors would best informed this question. Assuming that your speakers are wired in phase, you should have no problem. I'll add that this Subwoofer is a lot of boom for the buck!
[ Augustus  Oct 11, 2019 ]
A
It should work fine. It is a good value, and the speakers do not need to be the same brand.
[ Norman  Oct 11, 2019 ]
A
Most definitely a high end yet affordable sub. I would recommend it.
[ Mark  Oct 11, 2019 ]

i love my PSW10. I bought it as a replacement to my original polk sub that I bought in 1997 or so in the polk surround system. this PSW10 is a perfect replacement for me. its in the garage with the other old speakers. I have the best sounding garage in the neighborhood for sure.

Q
I've had a failed Polk subwoofer for years (no power, regardless of breaker), unfixable. It basically serves as an ugly end table. Are the new Polk subwoofers any more reliable than the crappy old ones? Are they cheap for a reason?
[ Robert  Sep 27, 2019 ]

I am using this subwoofer with a third-party Bluetooth xmit/rcvr. This delivers the signal from my Onkyo receiver to the sub. Distance is about 25 feet, with a couch and kitchen table in the signal path! No issues there.
[ ROBERT  Jun 25, 2019 ]
A
I sincerely doubt it. I'm sure there's a converter you can buy. Otherwise buy the Polk subwoofer that is. See the website.

What is the volumetric flow rate (kg^3/s) of air being moved by this speaker? Trying to figure it out.

A
Sorry, Joshua, but you are much further advanced than I when it comes to evaluating speakers! I just go by what my "ear" tells me and what eval my wife has. We both think they really fill our 15' X 20' living room with sounds of great "texture." Best wishes, sorry 9i couldn't be of any help. Al Z.

Q
Does this sub connect to the receiver using a standard subwoofer cable (rca's on each end)? Why does it have L & R rca input jacks?
[ Bob  Oct 09, 2018 ]
5 answers
A
rca
[ Jose  Jun 25, 2019 ]
A
Yes, you can use a regular cable. Good question on the R and L because Iirc, it doesn't matter which one you use. If you have additional questions, don't hesitate to ask.
[ DEREK T  Oct 09, 2018 ]
A
Many audio amplifiers are not equipped with a single (L & R channels combined) subwoofer output, and require subwoofers with seperate channel inputs. Since subs with separate inputs electronically combine the channels internally, you should be able to connect your single sub output to either of the subwoofer's RCA inputs (L or R) and achieve the desired result. Or if you'd rather, you can use an RCA "Y" connector/splitter cable and feed both subwoofer inputs from your single output.
[ Randy  Oct 09, 2018 ]
A
Standard connectors GREAT UNIT ?????
[ DANIEL  Oct 09, 2018 ]
A
Yes, it has a regular rca connection. My particular received had two outputs for the sub L and R but I believe you can just use one. The reason for the L and R is in case your receiver doesn't have a sub output, you can connect both sides and there are high powered outputs to connect speakers to directly on the sub that are crossed over.
