Overview

Our take on the Polk Audio R15

Here's an economical answer for anyone who's been asking "How can I afford great Polk speakers?" The compact R15 bookshelf will fit in almost any room, and the price is definitely right. But even more attractive is the sound you get from this versatile bookshelf speaker. The 3/4" Dynamic Balance® dome tweeter teams with a 5-1/4" Dynamic Balance woofer, for clean highs and satisfyingly full mids and lows. The keyhole slot on the back of the cabinet makes for easy wall-mounting.

Excellent SURROUND bookshelf speakers!

Javid from Queens, NY on 1/30/2006

These speakers are EXCELLENT as surround speakers. I orignally bought them hoping that they were good enough to satisfy my needs as main speakers, but the bass just wasn't deep enough. I tossed my POS rear speakers and added these. they are EXCELLENT as rear surround speakers. I ended up getting Polk Audio's excellent tower speakers for the front and my budget home theater is now complete.

Good sound

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought these in late 2005 for front speakers on a surround theatre system. Although they are small (my wife said "wow, they are really tiny they are loud!") they really kick out quality sound.

Very happy at the price I paid. I paired themn with a Polk Audio RM202 Ea Center Channel Speaker upon a Cruthfield advisor recommendation and they work well.

Price and Quality... you can't beat these!!

Brian from Austin, TX on 11/14/2005

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought a pair of these for $99 to go with my Polk CS1 center, Monitor 30 fronts and PSW10 sub... they ROCK! Who would have thought that speakers at this price point would sound this good. They make incredible surrounds and handle high-quality digital sound with no problem. The voice matches great with the Monitor series speakers. (I'm running all this through the Onkyo TX-SR503) I know some people don't like the bass response from the R15s, but hey, get a SUB and put them in a small to medium room! (my living room is 18'x18')
Way to go Polk... great sound and quality at a more than fair price.

(BTW, my Crutchfield sales rep, Mac, was the BEST! Get these speakers... and get them from Crutchfield.)

sounds great with good bass and highs and smooth clarity

Alrob from New york, NYC, Manhattan on 10/6/2005

This may sound strange but I bought these speakers after I heard them in a daycare. My nephew goes to a "high end" daycare / preschool in NYC and they have these Polk speakers in the Stroller room and the Jazz and World music they play sounds great with good bass and highs and smooth clarity. This same day care center also has Klipsch and Acoustic Research speakers in some of the classrooms and hallways and those brands actually compare to Polk. I say they're a buy!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought three pair of these for my 7.1 home system. They are paired with a Polk CS1 center and a PSW303 sub.
They work excellent, music reproduction is very clear, I am also earing things in my DVD collection that I have never noticed before, lots of background stuff I had been missing. Sound effects and music too.
Great match for the RTi6 speakers

Paul V. Lineer from San Francisco, CA. on 4/14/2005

I purchased 4 of the R15 speakers to use in my 7.1 surround system, with the 2 RTi6 speakers in front and the CSi5 for the center, and the PSW505 powered subwoofer. The 7 speakers are powered with 120 watts to each channel, I have found the R15s to be very hard working and great sounding little surround speakers, and would recommend them to anyone concerned about space, and sound.

Features

Dynamic Balance: Dynamic Balance is a proprietary Polk Audio technology using laser imaging to determine what combination of speaker materials create the least amount of resonance. Eliminating resonance in speakers results in a wide, smooth response and low distortion.

Composite Woofers: Each speaker has a 5-1/4" Dynamic Balance composite woofer for clean midrange and deep, accurate bass. For a smoother response and improved durability, each woofer uses a rubber surround.

Silk Tweeters: Each speaker has a 3/4" Dynamic Balance silk dome tweeter for smooth, clear highs.

Bass Port: A front-firing bass port on each speaker gives you extended bass response.

5-Way Binding Posts: The 5-way binding posts will accept bare wire, pin connectors, spade connectors, banana plugs, and dual banana plugs.

Wall Mounting: There is a keyhole slot in the back panel of each speaker. If desired, these can be used to wall mount the speakers by screwing a #10 screw (not provided) into a wall stud. If a wall stud is not available, a wall anchor capable of supporting at least 25 pounds (not provided) may be used.

Note

Frequency Response: The overall frequency response is 60Hz-24kHz and the -3dB frequency response is 65-20kHz.
