Features

Dynamic Balance Drivers: Dynamic Balance is a proprietary Polk Audio technology using laser imaging to determine what combination of speaker materials create the least amount of resonance. Eliminating resonance in speakers results in a wide, smooth response and low distortion. Using just the right materials enables Polk to eliminate issues that reduce speaker performance and tune out performance-robbing resonances before they occur. Dynamic Balance ensures a rich, clean, full-range sound no matter what you're listening to. The Polk Signature S35 center-channel loudspeaker incorporates a Dynamic Balance multi-driver array with one 1" tweeter and six 3" woofers.

  • Hi-Res 1" Terylene Tweeter: The Signature S35 center-channel loudspeaker utilizes Polk's newly designed 1" Terylene tweeter to deliver clear and detailed high-end response for improved vocals in movies and music. It will support high frequencies up to 40kHz to perfectly reproduce the latest high-resolution audio files with improved audio extension, earning Hi-Res Audio Certification.
  • Six 3" Mica-Reinforced Polypropylene Woofers: The Signature S35 center-channel speaker employs six 3" Dynamic Balance low distortion mica-reinforced polypropylene midrange cone woofers for clean, clear bass, better linearity, and increased dynamic midrange. These mica-reinforced polypropylene midranges feature butyl rubber surrounds, massive ceramic motor structures, and high-temperature Conex fiber spiders that combine to create drivers of exceptionally high efficiency, for clean, clear bass, better linearity, lower distortion, and greater durability.

Power Port Technology: The Signature S35 center-channel incorporates Polk's Power Port technology with two specially designed rear-firing ports. Power Port technology smoothly transition air flow from inside the speaker into your listening area for deep, extended bass impact while minimizing turbulence and distortion. Polk's patented Power Port technology delivers 3dB more bass response than a traditional ported speaker.

Non-Resonant Enclosure: The center-channel speaker's strong, rigid and acoustically inert enclosure reduces unwanted internal standing waves for less audible coloration. And non-resonant Meddite MDF construction, extra bracing, and a thick front baffle ensure a more lifelike sound. The enclosure's curved edges not only look cool, they reduce standing waves inside the cabinet for less audible coloration. The enclosure features a beautiful black washed walnut finish.

Anti-Diffraction Magnetic Grille: The Signature S35 includes an anti-diffraction magnetic grille for unaltered sound. The integrated magnets make it easy to attach and remove the grille from the center speaker.

Two-Way Crossover: The center-channel speaker employs a high-performance two-way crossover array (2.5kHz) for seamless blending and optimum time alignment of the tweeter & woofers, creating a lifelike soundstage.

5-Way Binding Posts: The center-channel loudspeaker features 5-way binding posts for a secure connection to your speaker wire. The 5-way binding posts will accept bare wire (up to 10AWG), pin-connectors, spade-connectors, and banana plugs (single or dual). The speaker terminals are color coded for easy identification between positive (red) and negative (black).

Applications: The Signature S35's primary use is as a center-channel loudspeaker for home theater applications. But, it can also be used as a left and right front or rear speaker in stereo and home theater setups. If your AV receiver offers built-in bass management, the S35 should be set to "Small" to filter out low bass frequencies.

Placement & Mounting Options: The Signature S35 can be mounted horizontally as a center channel speaker, under or above your flat-panel TV. You can simply place the center-channel speaker on a table-top or shelf, or wall-mount the center-channel using its integrated keyhole slots on the back. Because the S35 is only 4.1875" tall, it will not block the screen or IR remote of most TVs (the included rubber increase the height of speaker by 0.125"). The speaker can also be wall-mounted vertically using the integrated keyhole slots. A wall-mount template is provided (mounting screws not included).

Note: The speaker cannot be mounted vertically on a table-top or shelf (only wall-mounted vertically).

Signature Series: Polk designed its Signature Series of loudspeakers to bring a big surround sound and a live music experience into the comfort of your living room at an affordable price. Featuring Hi-Res certification with a new high-resolution Terylene tweeter, redesigned Dynamic Balance drivers, precision crossovers, an anti-diffraction magnetic grille, modern cabinet styling and exclusive Power Port bass enhancing technology, Polk's Signature series loudspeakers deliver crystal clear highs, detailed midrange, and deep bass; plus they look great in almost any decor. The Signature Series by Polk consists of two center-channel speakers, three bookshelf loudspeakers, and three tower speakers.

Note: You may also want to add one of Polk Audio's powered subwoofers (sold separately) for even more bass response.

Q
What wire gauge would I use for this speaker?
[ JOSE  Jun 24, 2021 ]

A
I used Monster Speaker Cable 14 ga.
[ Larry  Jun 25, 2021 ]
Q
How will this work with my Polk Audio TSX 440 T?
[ Jimmy  Apr 17, 2021 ]
2 answers
A
I have a different setup and used this for a center speaker for a tv system I put together. The Polk Audio TSX 440 T might be fine without this. But "working with" each other depends on the receiver or amp you use, I guess.
[ Timothy  May 10, 2021 ]
A
This center channel speaker is not a voice match with the Polk TSx series speakers. We do not recommend using them together in a theater system. We have other center channel speakers that can match them and advisors that can be reached by calling 1-800-324-9695 who can give you a personal recommendation on the best for your application

Q
Is this speaker magnetically shielded to use next to the flat screen TV?
[ Dean  Mar 25, 2021 ]
4 answers
A
I have a projection system, so no interference. The speaker sounds fine.
[ Gary  Mar 26, 2021 ]
A
Hi Dean Yes, the Polk Audio S35 centre channel speaker is shielded from electro-magnetic interference from the tv set. Due to limited space, my S35 sits right in front of my LG UHD Smart tv. To the point where the remote sensor cannot pick up the signal from the remote controller. I have to literally walk up to the tv to switch it on/off. That's how close my S35 is to the tv. But this does not interfere with the speaker's performance at all. Just watched Mosul on Netflix the other day, and the S35 took care of business with aplomb! Crystal clear sound with no sign of interference. Hope this answers your question. Thanks. L
[ Luvuyo  Mar 26, 2021 ]
A
I have it front of my tv. Works fine
[ MARTIN  Mar 25, 2021 ]
A
I use it directly in front of my Samsung flat screen TV and have not had any issues.
[ George  Mar 25, 2021 ]
Q
Right now we run this through our receiver. Is there a way to connect directly to a new tv?
[ Nancy  Nov 19, 2020 ]
5 answers
A
No,you need an amplifier to power the speaker and a TV would not have that
[ Jason  Dec 04, 2020 ]
A
Only if the new TV has speaker line outputs.
[ William  Nov 20, 2020 ]
A
Hi Nancy, Most TVs have either fiber optic outputs or line level outputs for an audio signal. Both of these require amplification which is what your receiver is doing. It is doubtful that your TV provides an amplified speaker output. Hope that helps. Dan
[ DANIEL  Nov 19, 2020 ]
A
I don't know if your T.V. Has enough power to run it...the banana clips should fit in the L & R. Speaker ports.
[ CRAIG  Nov 19, 2020 ]
A
Hello Nancy I have mine going through my Sony receiver and from my receiver I use a optic audio cable. I do not thing it can go directly to the tv without the receiver.
[ ERIC  Nov 19, 2020 ]
Q
What mounting kit would you recommend to attach to a TV wall mount?
[ Jerry  Nov 28, 2019 ]

A
This would work nicely, and is rated to 15 lbs. that Pol speaker is 14lbs. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_051SA405/Sanus-SA405-Sound-Bar-Speaker-Mount.html
[ Calvin  Dec 11, 2019 ]  Staff
A
Mine is actually sitting on the mantle but, if I had of wall mounted it I would have used the sheetrock screw in type anchors rated for 12-15 lbs or heavier. The speaker is fairly heavy, maybe 12-15 lbs. It has 2 keyhole shaped mounting holes in the metal frame on the back and they are approx. 22-1/4" center to center. It's a great speaker!
[ GARY  Nov 29, 2019 ]
Q
Can this be used as a stand alone stereo speaker or must is have remote left and right speakers? (i.e. can I get stereo sound using it as a TV sound bar?)
[ Russell  Apr 08, 2019 ]
3 answers
A
This is a single channel speaker. If your TV does not have stereo output then this could be used as a sound bar but it may require a special hookup.
[ Wayne  Apr 08, 2019 ]
A
No, I don't believe you can get stereo sound out of this single speaker. It has only one set of inputs, so it can reproduce sound from only 1 channel (stereo requires 2 channels). You could do it with 2 of these.
[ PATRICK  Apr 08, 2019 ]
A
There is only 1 input on this speaker. It will not process both L/R channels. Only a mono input may be received.

Q
what right and left channel speaker would you pair with this center channel speaker with?
[ Ronald  Dec 21, 2017 ]
3 answers
A
I pair mine with a pair of Klipsch r-28f towers, I am very pleased with the setup. Great sound for a small speaker, nice fit and finish for a budget speaker as well. I use duel 12" SVS subs for the low end.
[ John  Dec 21, 2017 ]
A
I'm sure it's a matter of personal preference, intended use, budget, etc., but I chose a pair of the Klipsch R24F's (because of the small footprint) and a Klipsch R-10SW 10" subwoofer for added bass (for a home theater). I couldn't be happier. The center channel made all the difference in the world; very low profile and dialogue is now crystal clear.
[ Joseph  Dec 21, 2017 ]
A
Any of the Polk Signature series would work best. I have a set of the S15's as my left and right channels, they pair great together.

Thanks. L

I'm sure it's a matter of personal preference, intended use, budget, etc., but I chose a pair of the Klipsch R24F's (because of the small footprint) and a Klipsch R-10SW 10" subwoofer for added bass (for a home theater). I plan to use this speaker for my left/right mounted vertically on the wall. The logo would be sideways on the speaker cover. Can the Polk logo be rotated or removed from the cover?

A
I can't be removed without damaging the cover. However, the cover itself is removable if you like that look. I just have one as a center channel, and it sounds great. I have the S20's for the front L/R and S10's for the rear surrounds to finish out the set.
[ James  Jan 17, 2020 ]
A
Alex, According to Ken ,with the support team at Polk audio ,the logo can not be relocated. It is attached with two studs through the grill material, and probably glued. You could make it less noticeable by coloring it , OR run them with the grills off , the speaker array with the grill off is very impressive. In any case I'm sure you won't be disappointed with the sound .
[ LAWRENCE  Jan 16, 2020 ]
A
Hey Alex: the logo is permanent.
[ ROBERT  Jan 16, 2020 ]
A
Speaker cover easily removed with magnet clips, revealing the thin, plastic 'polk' logo permanently affixed with two small, metal pins. Can not remove or move without damage.
[ Patrick  Jan 16, 2020 ]
A
I would say a definite no on the rotation. And, a big maybe on removing it without something noticeable afterwards. I took a photo to help you out, but I don't see how to upload it. The problem is that the logo is recessed into the plastic frame with the fabric between. The logo has 2 pins which prevents rotation.

I can't be removed without damaging the cover. However, the cover itself is removable if you like that look. I just have one as a center channel, and it sounds great. I have the S20's for the front L/R and S10's for the rear surrounds to finish out the set.

Speaker cover easily removed with magnet clips, revealing the thin, plastic 'polk' logo permanently affixed with two small, metal pins. Can not remove or move without damage.

I would say a definite no on the rotation. And, a big maybe on removing it without something noticeable afterwards. I took a photo to help you out, but I don't see how to upload it. The problem is that the logo is recessed into the plastic frame with the fabric between. The logo has 2 pins which prevents rotation.

How many Watts RMS can it handle? I've already blown a center speaker rated 100 Watts RMS. I'm using a Yamaha 95 Watts RMSx7

I had my S35 hooked up to a Marantz SR-7012 rated at 125 watts per channel and regularly watched movies at house-shaking volume. I never had any problems with clipping or distortion. I bought the S35 because I needed better clarity and volume for dialog and it delivered. My S35 is currently in storage following a move and I am anxious to get the home theater hooked up again.

Can I add a subwoofer ?

A
Of course you can. But keep in mind this is a center channel, not a sound bar -- you need a receiver or processor / amp to drive this, and you would attach your subwoofer to that.

A
Yes, you can add a subwoofer and satellite speakers if you like. That is only the center speaker.
[ Jose  Nov 09, 2020 ]
A
That depends on the receiver you have, not the speaker.

Yes for sure! Might want to consider one of their, Crutchfield more of the pro line. With what I currently have is good. Sound wise.

Yes, you can add a subwoofer with your system. There are no connections on the S35 for a subwoofer and you will need to connect it to a receiver or other device, such as a sound-bar, that has a low level subwoofer output.

This is an un-powered center speaker. It only has 2 inputs (+ and -) and no outputs. If you want to add a subwoofer, you would have to have a subwoofer output on your amp or receiver.
