Product Research

Dynamic Balance Drivers: Dynamic Balance is a proprietary Polk Audio technology using laser imaging to determine what combination of speaker materials create the least amount of resonance. Eliminating resonance in speakers results in a wide, smooth response and low distortion. Using just the right materials enables Polk to eliminate issues that reduce speaker performance and tune out performance-robbing resonances before they occur. Dynamic Balance ensures a rich, clean, full-range sound no matter what you're listening to. The Polk Signature S60 floor-standing loudspeaker incorporates a Dynamic Balance two-way driver array with one 1" tweeter and three 6.5" woofers.

  • Hi-Res 1" Terylene Tweeter: The Signature S60 floor-standing loudspeaker utilizes Polk's newly designed 1" Terylene tweeter to deliver clear and detailed high-end response for realistic reproduction of vocals and instruments. It will support high frequencies up to 40kHz to perfectly reproduce the latest high-resolution audio files with improved audio extension, earning Hi-Res Audio Certification.
  • Three 6.5" Mica-Reinforced Polypropylene Woofers: The Signature S60 floor-standing speaker employs three 6.5" Dynamic Balance low distortion mica-reinforced polypropylene cone woofers for clean, clear bass, better linearity, and increased dynamic midrange and midbass. This mica-reinforced polypropylene woofers feature butyl rubber surrounds, massive ceramic motor structures, and high-temperature Conex fiber spiders that combine to create drivers of exceptionally high efficiency, for clean, clear bass, better linearity, lower distortion, and greater durability.

Power Port Technology: The Signature S60 floor-standing incorporates Polk's Power Port technology with a specially designed down-firing port. Power Port technology smoothly transition air flow from inside the speaker into your listening area for deep, extended bass impact while minimizing turbulence and distortion. Polk's patented Power Port technology delivers 3dB more bass response than a traditional ported speaker. Because the port is located on the bottom of the floor-standing speaker, its not necessary to position to the loudspeaker a certain amount of feet from wall - giving you greater placement flexibility.

Non-Resonant Enclosure: The floor-standing speaker's strong, rigid and acoustically inert enclosure reduces unwanted internal standing waves for less audible coloration. And non-resonant Meddite MDF construction, extra bracing, and a thick front baffle ensure a more lifelike sound. The enclosure's curved edges not only look cool, they reduce standing waves inside the cabinet for less audible coloration. The enclosure features a beautiful walnut finish.

Anti-Diffraction Magnetic Grille: The Signature S60 includes an anti-diffraction magnetic grille for unaltered sound. The integrated magnets make it easy to attach and remove the grille from the floor-standing speaker.

Two-Way Crossover: The floor-standing speaker employs a high-performance two-way crossover array (2.5kHz) for seamless blending and optimum time alignment of the tweeter & woofers, creating a lifelike soundstage.

Dual 5-Way Binding Posts: The floor-standing loudspeaker has two sets of 5-way binding posts connected by jumpers. Using the dual 5-way binding posts, you can bi-amp or bi-wire the speakers. The 5-way binding posts will accept bare wire (up to 10AWG), pin-connectors, spade-connectors, and banana plugs (single or dual). The speaker terminals are color coded for easy identification between positive (red) and negative (black).

Dual-Floor Compatible Feet: Customized for improved stability and bass coupling to the floor, the floor-standing loudspeaker's feet are designed for both carpet and hard floors. The feet come pre-installed and should not be removed.

Applications & Placement: The Signature S60 floor-standing speakers can be used as front and/or surround speakers in a home theater setup. They can also be used in a simple stereo application. If your AV receiver offers built-in bass management, the S60 should be set to "Large" for an unfiltered, full-range audio signal.

  • Placement for Front Speakers: As a pair of front speakers in a home theater or stereo setup, create an equilateral triangle between the speakers and the listening position - with the speakers placed as far apart from one another as the listeners are sitting from them.
  • Placement for Surround Speakers: As surround speakers, the S60 should be placed on a side wall slightly behind the listening position. If you cannot place the speakers on the side walls, position them on the rear wall just behind the listening area.

Signature Series: Polk designed its Signature Series of loudspeakers to bring a big surround sound and a live music experience into the comfort of your living room at an affordable price. Featuring Hi-Res certification with a new high-resolution Terylene tweeter, redesigned Dynamic Balance drivers, precision crossovers, an anti-diffraction magnetic grille, modern cabinet styling and exclusive Power Port bass enhancing technology, Polk's Signature series loudspeakers deliver crystal clear highs, detailed midrange, and deep bass; plus they look great in almost any decor. The Signature Series by Polk consists of two center-channel speakers, three bookshelf loudspeakers, and three tower speakers.

Note: You may also want to add one of Polk Audio's powered subwoofers (sold separately) for even more bass response.

Customer Q&A

12 questions already asked

I have an ONKYO TX-NR696 7.2 A/V Receiver that claims 100 watts per channel with 8ohms. Will this be sufficient to push a pair of Polk S60?
[ Randy  Feb 04, 2021 ]
6 answers
Yes i'm certain it will. I am running the set along with a sub, and 2 wall speakers, and a wall mounted center speaker and they are awesome. Very stylish as well.
[ Joseph  Feb 04, 2021 ]
I use a similar Onkyo receiver, maybe they can handle more but it's more than enough for me.
[ MATTHEW  Feb 04, 2021 ]
I am using a 100 watts per channel Denon receiver for the S60 speakers and it does a wonderful job. The speakers are rated for up to 300 watts, but the 100 watt receiver is loud and clear.
[ GREGORY K.  Feb 04, 2021 ]
For light listening, yes. For room shaking home theater, it will be pushing the max
[ Byron Hays  Feb 04, 2021 ]
Simple answer yes. Assuming you have a 20f by 15f by 15f room or smaller. Because you get 90db at 1 meter distance with these speakers. So 20 watts receiver in the average home will produce IMAX quality sound. 100watt would do about 108db ( 3db increase every doubling of watts) which is too loud for most homes and will damage your ears. So you could be 8 meters or ~20 feet from the speakers at 108db to hear IMAX range (80db average)
[ Jeremy  Feb 04, 2021 ]
My Polk S60s are powered in the stereo mode by a Sony STR-DA2ES which is also rated at 100 watts per channel at 8 ohms with no problem, so your Onkyo should be fine with the S60s.
[ cartoonist  Feb 04, 2021 ]
Can we get a definitive answer on video shielding? Answer below seems vague and product description does not mention with this model, but does on others. Mine will sit within 2 ft. of one edge of my huge plasma TV.
[ Steve  Jan 23, 2021 ]

You could have Googled this. No, only a cathode ray tube (CRT), which uses magnetism to control an electron beam that is 'scanning' an image line by line, is affected by un-shielded speakers.
[ David  Jan 23, 2021 ]
My speakers sit within 2 ft of a 75 inch tv and i have had 0 issues for two years.
[ JERRY T  Jan 23, 2021 ]
Are these speakers video shielded?
[ Mark59  Jan 08, 2019 ]
2 answers
I am not sure.
[ Timothy  Jan 08, 2019 ]
Hey Mark59, yes, purchased mine a year and a half ago and couldn't be happier. The have better drivers than the smaller models in the same line. Worth the investment.
[ Keith R.  Jan 08, 2019 ]
can you remove the feet and lay them on there side?
[ Johnathan  Jan 29, 2018 ]
2 answers
Although theoretically it is possible to do, I would advise against it since it would interfere with bass response as well as degrading stereo imaging.
[ Robert  Jan 30, 2018 ]
They certainly aren't designed to be used that way but I would imagine that the feet are just screwed in which would probably allow that to happen. Go up to your local Best Buy and see if you look at the bottom of one. If you see screws then you can probably remove them. Hope this helps.
[ Shaun  Jan 29, 2018 ]
Subwoofer to use with the Polk S60's. They show that they can go to 26hz and a lot of subs don't even go that low. What would be a good compliment subwoofer?
[ James  Jun 13, 2017 ]

Thanks for your question. For information on selecting the best sub I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences between the sub models and help you make the best choice for your system.

Is this for a single s60 or two of them?
[ Luke  Aug 25, 2020 ]

The price for this speaker is usually each.
[ HARRY G  Aug 26, 2020 ]
[ Ramon Ocasio  Aug 26, 2020 ]
Single. Have to buy 2 .
[ CHARLES  Aug 26, 2020 ]
[ Jamie  Aug 25, 2020 ]
Thats a question for the Chrutchfield folks. What does the website say, each or pair? Pretty simple to figure out.
[ Robert  Aug 25, 2020 ]
When I bought them they came in singles. I will say they are worth it tho. They sound amazing.
[ Adrian  Aug 25, 2020 ]
Just one.
[ EVAN  Aug 25, 2020 ]
in comparison to the Polk A7's, which one would you choose. Also, what are your professional opinions as to the sound quality (I LOVE my A7's) differential?
[ Billy Boy  Jul 25, 2020 ]
4 answers
I've never heard the A7's so I can't compare the sound. I can tell you that the S60's are great speakers. If you love the A7's enjoy them and be happy!
[ Thomas  Aug 11, 2020 ]
The equalizer is shitt audio, not shirt. TypeO on spelling.
[ JOHN  Aug 11, 2020 ]
You didn't give me much to go on. Depends on the application of speakers and what you are using for amp and playback media. I've never auditioned the A7. I can say this by looking at specs which is just a starting point that the S60 has a lower bass ability. And closer to a two-way design. The A7 is more of a three-way design. I consider anything above a 90db efficiency to be good and easy for weaker power amps to drive. I'm using a 50 watt Jolida integrated tube amp, with a Project Tube phono preamp and a Audio Technica LP120 USB, the cartridge is a AT95ML. I also use a Shirt audio 4 band equalizer for tone controls. I like the S60's port design as it has an Omni directional effect whereas the A7's port is kinda straight forward. You still have to toe or aim a speaker in most all cases but the S60 is less fussy. I would recommend the S60. Also if looking for a turntable find the discontinued model of the AT lp-120 with the arm height adjustment for VTA adjustment. You can do the adjustment on the fly while playing a record and hear the adjustment as you fine tune the arms height. Sure beats the hit n miss method for adjusting an arm. And finally always remember, Vinyl is Final... Lol

Thanks for your question. For information on comparing two or more models I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences and help you make the best choice for your system and your budget.

I want to know if I should buy these and abandons my wall speakers or try and bridge them I have a onkyo to-rz820 and 15'' klipsch . The bass is good but I want more out of my 7.1 system. Thanks! ?

Enter an answer to this question. Regards!! I have them and they give me great sound, I have them with a wofer.
[ ELIEZER  Jul 02, 2020 ]
I'm not technical enough to answer your question but I can say these things are massive and sound great. I have them and 2 Polk hts10s and it's more than enough for a very large family room.
[ Jonathan  Jun 30, 2020 ]
Hi Seano, The S60 have a wide frequency range and their performance is very good. I would suggest replacing the wall speakers and use the S60 for front L And R.
[ sath  Jun 30, 2020 ]
Are these two way or three way speakers?
[ Harold  Jun 02, 2018 ]
3 answers
Two way, the 3 woofers are identical.
[ Gary  Jun 03, 2018 ]
Two way
[ Richard  Jun 03, 2018 ]
I understand them to be three way
[ Michael  Jun 03, 2018 ]
I have a sony str-de 135 receiver 100x2 watts and plan on using the Audio Quest psc biwire jumpers will this be enough power for these speakers ?
[ scott  Jan 09, 2018 ]
4 answers
You should be fine. I have mine on 135 watts with the jumper in place and thay sounds amazing I ended up turning my subwoofer off ... the bass is really a deep bass not boomy
[ James  Feb 06, 2018 ]
Scott, I am running the s60 speakers with a Yamaha amp rated at 100 watts per channel. They are rated at 90 dB. At 100 watts you will be pushing 110 dB - that hurts ! Speakers will sound better after a little break in. One caution , these can handle 300 watts , don't push you amp to clipping (noticeable distortion). I think these speakers offer a great value, great sound and look very nice !
[ LAWRENCE  Jan 09, 2018 ]
Yes...the clarity of the sound should not be a concern
[ Michael  Jan 09, 2018 ]
I think that would be perfect. I have used these with two different 100 x 2 watt receivers, and both blew away the neighborhood. One was bi-wired, and one was not.
