Infinity's take on a compact sub

Cars are getting smaller every year, and we've really noticed an upswing in the popularity of compact powered subwoofers. Now Infinity weighs in with their BassLink SM powered sub, and it'll deliver quality bass from spaces where you never thought a sub could go.

Infinity BassLink SM 8" powered under seat enclosure

The BassLink SM can deliver powerful bass from under your seat.

Infinity houses the BassLink SM in a slim-profile enclosure that's small enough to fit under the front seat in many vehicles. They designed the 8” shallow-profile woofer specifically for this compact enclosure, so you can count on superior efficiency and performance.

Made for tight spaces

The BassLink SM delivers 125 watts RMS to its sub with a Class D that hardly gets warm when it's working, so there's no worry about installing the BassLink SM  under your seat or in some other tight spaces.

The amp features a choice of controls to help you define your sound, including adjustable crossover frequency and bass boost. The BassLink SM also features low- and high-level inputs with an input load switch.

So deliver more bass to your space…with the Bass Link SM, you've got room for the boom.

Product Research

Mounting: The subwoofer, with its height under 2-7/8", can be mounted flat under a seat in the passenger compartment of many vehicles.

Auto Turn-On: When the speaker level inputs are used, the system can automatically turn on and off by sensing the voltage on the speaker input. If you prefer, auto turn-on can be turned off, so the amp turns on/off using the wired remote terminal.

Note: The auto turn-on feature does not operate when the preamp level inputs are used.

Low-Pass Crossover: The low-pass crossover slope is 12dB/octave and the crossover point is variable from 50 Hz to 120 Hz.

Bass Boost: The amplifier includes a continuously variable bass boost circuit, 0 dB to +9 dB centered at 70Hz.

  • Power: the power (+12V), ground, and remote turn-on connections are on a terminal strip; each screw terminal is approximately 0.34" wide; Infinity recommends 12-gauge (minimum) power and ground wires
  • Line Level Input: left and right female RCA preamp level inputs
  • Speaker Level Input: 4-pin port for the included speaker input harness
  • Fuse: 20-amp ATO fuse installed
  • Remote: RJ-14 jack for an optional wired remote (item number 108RBC, sold separately)

  • Audio Sense: two position switch; set to On when using speaker level inputs to engage the auto turn-on circuit
  • Input Load: two position switch, active only when using speaker level inputs; offers compatibility with a wide range of aftermarket and factory radios
  • Crossover: rotary control; sets low-pass crossover point; continuously variable from 50 Hz to 120 Hz
  • Phase: two position switch; select normal (0°) or reverse (180°)
  • Level: rotary control; gain variable from 200mV to 2V when using line level inputs, 2V to 20V when using speaker level inputs
  • Bass Boost: rotary control; bass boost level variable from 0dB to +9dB, centered at 70Hz

Will this fit under the front seat of a 1987 Buick Regal?
[ richard  Jul 22, 2019 ]
1 answer
If you have power seats it won't. It might fix with manual seats, Take some measurements. I really like this unit. Makes the system come alive. Worth the money.
[ DUANE D  Jul 23, 2019 ]
can you also use the RCA connectors for Speaker Level input?
[ Me  May 27, 2019 ]
2 answers
You shouldn't do that. You can purchase an adapter for speaker line to rack which is much safer on your components
[ R  May 27, 2019 ]
I seriously doubt it. Normally RCA jacks on an amplifier are reserved for low level input only. They are rated for millivolts and not line level input. If you try your hookup, you will be overdriving the amp and it will distort the sound BIG TIME! Worse yet you could blow the amp. Rick K.

[ Edward  Feb 27, 2019 ]
It will fit but you'll quickly remove it as these things sound pretty bad. I returned the one I bought and got a JL microsub 8" that sounds amazing!

I installed mine in a 77 Cutlass. I put it under the front passenger bucket seat. I made a mounting bracket out of 1/2 inch flat metal and mounted to existing seat mounting bolts.
[ Gordon  Feb 24, 2019 ]
Put it under the passenger seat. Your girl friend will be much more frisky!

Read the manual!
[ WADE  Jan 05, 2019 ]
I believe that it would be a good balance between all of the controls but the main control of the output is the gain that basically sets the wattage output or the volume I just usually turn them all down then adjust the gain to about 3/4 up then listen to the type of music I usually listen to and slowly adjust up on each level until it sounds good being carfule not to max any out I also have the head unit set to 3/4 just to make sure there are no blow outs hope this helps I feel it's the easiest way to set any amp
[ Paxton  Jan 05, 2019 ]
[ JOHN  Sep 24, 2018 ]
1 answer
Sure. It features the speaker level inputs (included harness) and signal sensing turn-on specifically for use with factory stereos. You'll simply tap the factory speaker wires (ones that contain the bass frequencies) and provide the newly tapped leads to the speaker level input harness provided with the Basslink SM: The rest of the install is pretty standard; power from the battery and ground to the chassis. Can I wire two of the infinity sm subs together onto a single control knob?
[ Musiclover  Dec 30, 2017 ]
2 answers
I'm not positive but you might be able to get a splinter for both amps in out to one control knob out there are a sort of old school phone line connectors but they do have independent bass control on each what I did was turn it up 3/4 and I can adjust the level through my head unit that would be the best way to control both at the same time use your bass output control on the head unit
[ Paxton  Jan 05, 2018 ]
I can not answer that without seeing a schematic.
[ WADE  Jan 05, 2018 ]
Has anyone installed 2 of these in a vehicle? Thinking one under each front seat. Have sub out on my receiver and split with rca Y to each one. TYIA

I put 1 in my small truck and I'm not impressed at all. It isn't loud and has very little bass. I would recommend getting a kicker or a Rockford Fosgate.
[ C  Dec 06, 2016 ]
I know this has been asked before....I recently purchased this powered sub from crutchfield and have not received it yet but it's on its way. Do I need a capacitor for this powered sub if don't want my headlights dimming when the bass thumps? I am combining this with another Alpine amp power pack 445A to complement my Alpine head unit.

[ ChunkStumpman  Feb 27, 2019 ]
I have mine wired directly into the power supplies from the factory and have no issues at all
[ Brooks  Oct 01, 2016 ]
I bought 2 basslink SM .I installed one in the trunk of my Lexus LS460,I ran power from the battery to it and tap into the rear speaker wires for audio signal. It works perfect. I installed one in my 2013 Prius 2, I am connected straight to battery also and tapping into rear speaker wires for audio signal. it works perfect also.
[ stanley  Sep 30, 2016 ]
No I haven't had any problems with headlights dimming.
[ TIM V  Sep 30, 2016 ]
Can this be used to replace the pioneer subwoofer under the passenger seat of a 1999 Lexus RX300?
[ gp99RX300  Jun 03, 2016 ]
1 answer
This is for all of the available compact subs, I would recommend to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to pull up your vehicle, compare the different subs available and give you the details on if they will fit and what you will need for an installation in your vehicle.

Can you hook this sub up the same way as the Infinity BassLink by hooking it to the speaker wires?
[ Brent  Apr 25, 2016 ]
6 answers
Yes you can that is how mine is hooked up on a classic looking radio.
[ DERRICK J  Apr 26, 2016 ]
Yes. It works well splicing it into the high level inputs. There may be alternator interference if you run the power wires more than 12" in length with the speaker wires. Make sure you splice the positive and negative from both right and left to get the best base response. Have fun!
[ ELLIOT L  Apr 26, 2016 ]
No. You need to use pre amp rca jacks from your deck straight to the bass link.
[ JEREMY  Apr 25, 2016 ]
[ Anthony  Apr 25, 2016 ]
Yes, that's how I hooked mine up. I drive a 2016 Mazda Miata MX-5 Sport base and it's pretty much impossible to remove the head unit, but I was able to easily remove the door and wire the sub directly to the speaker wires.
[ Marcus  Apr 25, 2016 ]
Yes, It has line level wire connections.
[ Doug  Apr 25, 2016 ]
What type of mounting hardware comes with this unit?
[ Jim  Dec 01, 2015 ]
2 answers
There are 4 screws that come in the box that fit into the small triangular openings located near the 4 corners on the front of the unit.
[ Bryan  Dec 01, 2015 ]
4- 2.5 " long allen head screws that take a 3mm drive which is included. They are threaded like a lag screw, so you drill the right size hole and screw them in.
[ TIM V  Dec 01, 2015 ]
what gauge wire's required for power/ground?
[ An42dy  Nov 23, 2015 ]
2 answers
Manual calls for #12AWG for power and ground and #18AWG for remote turn-on.
[ TIM V  Dec 01, 2015 ]
We recommend a minimum of a 10 gauge power/ground kit for use with this model: I hope that helps!
[ Ryan  Nov 27, 2015 ]  Staff
Does this Infinity Basslink SM come with a remote level control?
[ Greg  Nov 22, 2015 ]

No, but Crutchfield offers the at a fair price.
[ WADE  Jan 05, 2019 ]
It does not. The manual does state that it is compatible with "RBC Remote Bass Controller" so you can get one for it.

What would you recommend to get for a subwoofer on 2015 dodge caravan?
[ gary2309  Nov 13, 2015 ]

If you are asking if it would fit under one of the front seats, I'm sure it would as it fit under the drivers seat of my WRX. I can't be sure If it would provide sufficient bass for that vehicle. It does an outstanding job in my little car.
