High tech and stylish

Infinity's Kappa K1000 mono subwoofer amplifier supplies your subwoofer with up to 1,000 watts RMS — good news for all you bass fans out there. The space age-looking brushed aluminum chassis features dancing, signal-level LEDs which add to the amp's high-tech look and overall coolness factor.

Connectivity is the name of the game

This amplifier can accept low- or speaker-level inputs so it'll work in almost any system. Infinity includes screw-on RCA-to-bare wire adapters with the amp to make sure you can make the proper connections. The Kappa K1000 sub amp will integrate perfectly into a system that uses a matching Infinity Kappa K2 or Kappa K4 full-range amplifier with its handy Bluetooth® connection.

Good with bass

A low-pass filter clears the way for your sub to play clean, powerful bass. The Kappa K1000 subwoofer amp also features Infinity's Dynamic Bass Optimizer (DBO™) circuitry, which uses a subsonic filter and bass boost to optimize the performance of your sub and enclosure combo.

This mono block amplifier is a great value, it's underrated has low current draw and is easy to use. I have mine pushing a 12in Kicker CVX and it sounds amazing.

Pros: Puts out more watts than rated, great price

Cons: No bass knob.

Kappa K1000 as advertised - output and clarity

Tim from Ottawa Ontario Canada on 1/26/2019

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Purchased this amp and an AudioFrog GB sub last winter. Drove over the border to pick them up in Ogdensburg, NY. Built a sealed and braced box to suggested specification for an AudioFrog GB12D4, so the amp could run at a 2 ohm load and hit some serious low bass notes. This should net 1000w RMS, when pushed. First impressions on a 5+ trip one way, and back again, are that this combination can really pressurize a station wagon cabin. I have run 4 awg wiring with ferrule covers for all connection points where the wiring meets the amp and ground block. Proper ground block was cleaned and bolted/screwed to prepped sections of metal in the spare tire well. No-Ox-Id Special A was used at all metal wiring to ferrule points and where the ground block was bolted in the trunk. This is a special electrical contact chemical that inhibits corrosion where two dissimilar metals meet and electricity passes. The price is great for what this amp can do. I have yet to even tune the system for time alignment, levels, gain min, and anything other than making sure the filters are off, and that my head unit is doing all the filtering. Head unit is a Pioneer Carrozzeria P01/P99RS. Subs are currently working at 80hz and down, via the sub output which reaches a maximum 5V on preout with no clipping at head unit maximum volume. No abnormal noises, clean output, incredible output at low hz bass notes that are ever present in EDM music. I would say this is a win fr

Pros: Manual gives all relevant information. Exterior is clean and fancy looking. Large heat sync built into design. Output can easily be overwhelming if your system is designed to take advantage of the power using the correct speaker system and space. This is a good amplifier when used for SQ output. I'm down playing what this amp can sound and "feel" like in terms of output when used with good equipment and a proper install.

Cons: Phillips screws are small where used and require a very skinny screwdriver shaft to fit into the holes.

Class D loveliness

Leondb from Pearl City, HI on 1/19/2019

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Within the past week I've upgraded my stock head unit to a Pioneer AVH1440NEX, my sub from a single JL HO 110RG-W3v3 on a JL XD600 to two Skar VVX10v3-d2's, and now my amplifier. I've read posts on forums/reviews of people putting a lot more power than 600 watts RMS per, but I wanted to stay closer to spec. 1000 watts mono seemed reasonable. I upgraded to this amp because I saw a YouTube dyno by Budget Gem or Budget Bust of the K1000 putting out over 1200 watts certified @2ohms. The price dropped on the k1000 from $499 to $199 a year ago and before it is discontinued I went for it. (For anyone curious the XD600 was dynoed by Williston Audio Labs on YouTube putting out 669 watts @2ohm certified) This amp really made a difference! As great as the JL XD amp was, the subs were under-powered. The VVX's sing beautifully now. I set my gain and the subs are just insane! It easily overpowers my fronts and rears so I set my sub level down 3db on my h/u to balance it out for normal listening levels. I wish I had originally chosen the Skar/Infinity setup. When I had to get a new car a year ago I just wanted to add bass to the stock system. The JL sub was good but I felt like it hit its limit too soon, and a sub woofer that is rated to handle 500 watts shouldn't struggle. I'm looking to add headrest monitors and an amp for my speakers. I am very pleased with this stage of my audio system. Free priority shipping to Hawaii(h/u included)? Unheard of. Thank you once again

Pros: -Clean efficient power -Runs cool -Subsonic filter -Tiny footprint. Does anyone remember the Kicker ZR amplifiers? When I first got into car audio, we ran class A/B amplifiers, as well as cheater high current amps, and these were huge and could run pretty hot. I had a ZR240 which was a little longer and wider than the k1000 but only had 1/4 the power. I also had a Massive Audio P1500.1 back in 2006, my first class D, and it was beastly. Amplifiers have come a long way!

Cons: Not a deal breaker, but I did like the JL XD's remote level control. It was a quicker adjustment then lowering my sub amp's level using the Pioneer h/u which requires a lot of screen navigating compared to turning a mounted knob.

The only reason I'm not giving this amp a 5 star is the difficulty reading the writing on the amp above the settings. Other than that this amp pounds. Especially for the price you can't go wrong. Its easy to install and easy to hook up and set up (other than the writing on what the controls are) i have this amp running 2 Morel 10's. They sound really good. Perfect match to the amp

Pros: Works very well.

Cons: Writing for the controls

Great amp, I have it mounted in the trunk of a '98 BMW M3 powering a single Alpine sub, giving it 1000w. The sub sounds amazing, clean, and I'm literally blown away by it! The amp itself is very nice looking, clean, and I was happy to build a custom sub enclosure and amp rack to show it off. See picture, it's the furthest back amp, next to an Infinity Ref 704a that powers the main speakers.

This is s good budget gem amplifier that has actually been dynoed certified at over 1200 watts rms into 2 ohms. It doesn't come with a bass knob and the LP and Subsonic filters are basic but if you have a DSP than this doesn't really matter. I de-tuned this thing to 500 watts rms while I break in a Sundown SA-12 in a crappy pre-fab sealed box and it just pushes this Sub with what I can only refer to as pressure. Can't wait to build a proper 2 cube ported box tuned to 35 Hz and put a full 900 watts on it with headroom to spare. Make sure you run a good copper true 4 gauge dedicated power and ground to it or you'll starve that amplifier for power.

Pros: Runs very efficient, only drawing 113 amps at maximum power on dyno. Runs good on stock electrical and good AGM battery. Makes a lot more than rated such as 772 watts into 4 ohms and 1214 watts certified and 1596 watts dynamic.

Cons: No bass knob but who cares at this price point and efficiency.

This amp is outstanding! Right out of the box me and a friend of mine installed to my new sub set up. The only thing he had to adjust was the frequency. Everything else was already pre-tuned and sounded amazing. I ran this amp with 2 infinity kappa 1200w 12" subs and it is by far the best set up I've ever had. So simple to install a cave man could do it.

Pros: It's smaller so it can easily fit just about anywhere. Great quality, there is a safe mode if the subs try to draw to much power that will kick the amp into the safe mode so it doesn't self destruct.

Cons: The only cons are that the screws that are shipped with seem to be on the cheaper side. Just used normal wood screws to hold the amp to the sub box

Good amp for the price it cant be beat. Very small and stays cool. It might be slightly over rated on true watt output. Im very happy with it. It powers my two kappa 1200w perfectly. No distortion even with the gain set high. I use true rca inputs but the option to use speaker wire inputs is nice. I wouls recommend and will probably be buying another to put in my girl friends car.

Pros: Stays cool and for the money its unbeatable. High and low volt inputs. It has a decibel light that looks cool when not hidden. The blue tooth option seams cool but im not running a kappa 4 channel yet.

Cons: I'm no expert but with 20 years of car audio experience i would say its closer to 800w at 2 ohms.

Product Research

Features

Overview: The Infinity Kappa K1000 is part of the Kappa series of high-performance amplifiers. This Class D mono subwoofer amplifier will accept both high-level and low-level inputs. Class D amplifiers are highly efficient and compact, generating a lot of power without drawing much current or generating heat. The amp comes with spare fuses, speaker wire-to-RCA adapters, and mounting hardware.

Power Output: The Kappa K1000 delivers the following power output:

  • 700 watts x 1 at 4 ohms (<0.1% THD+N)
  • 1000 watts x 1 at 2 ohms (<0.1% THD+N)

Protection Circuitry: The amplifier features protection circuitry for thermal overload, over- or under-voltage (<9V or >16V), and short circuits. The LED on the top of the amp glows red if the amp goes into protection mode.

Controls: The Kappa K1000's controls are located on one side of the amplifier. The rotary controls require a small screwdriver (not included) to make adjustments. The amp controls include:

  • Gain: The rotary gain control let you match the amp's input sensitivity to the output of the source unit. The input sensitivity range of the amplifier is 0.2V and up for a low-level input, and up to 20V for speaker-level input.
  • Input Level: The Input Level switch lets you select the type of input you are using. For high-level input, there are two settings: Hi1 and Hi2. If the audio system fails to play with an amplifier connected to its output, or you get a "speaker disconnected" message on your factory stereo, set the switch to the Hi2 position. The Hi2 position includes a circuit design to fool this type of factory system into "seeing" a speaker connected to its output.
  • Crossover: The amp features a non-defeatable low-pass filter that determines the upper limit of the frequencies that are sent to the subwoofer. You can adjust the cutoff frequency of the low-pass filter from 32Hz to 320Hz using the rotary control.
  • Bass Boost: The Kappa K1000 has a variable 0-12dB bass boost, centered at 45Hz. This allows you to dial in the amount of bass according to your personal taste.
  • Subsonic Filter: The amplifier has a subsonic filter that eliminates super-low frequencies that rob amplifier power and can damage speakers. This high-pass filter is variable from 10Hz to 80Hz, and has a 12dB/octave slope.
  • Phase Switch: The amp has a 2-way Phase Switch that lets you invert the phase of the speaker output by 180°. When the subwoofer is out of phase with the other speakers in the vehicle, sound waves cancel each other and the bass response suffers. If the bass response is poor, inverting the phase of the subwoofer may improve it.

Connections: The Infinity Kappa K1000 uses set screw terminals for the +12V power, ground, turn-on (remote) lead, and speaker outputs. The screws can be tightened/loosened with a Phillips-head or flat-head screwdriver (not provided). The amp connections include:

  • Power/Ground: The +12V Power and Ground terminals will accept up to 4-gauge wire. It is recommended that you use a minimum of 4 AWG power wire to the battery, with an in-line 100A fuse (or higher) installed no more than 18" from the battery terminal. A 4 AWG ground wire (minimum) is also recommended, and attached to a metal area close to the amplifier.
  • Remote Turn-On: The Remote screw terminal will accept up to 8 AWG wire. Typically, an 18 AWG turn-on lead is included in an amplifier wiring kit.
  • Speaker Outputs: The amp features screw terminals for connecting two speakers. The terminals are wired internally in parallel. The amp's minimum speaker impedance is 2 ohms, so you can connect one or two 4-ohm subwoofers, a 2-ohm subwoofer, or one subwoofer with dual 4-ohm voice coils.
  • Speaker-Level Input: The amp includes two bare wire-to-RCA adapters for connecting the amp to a factory radio or aftermarket head unit without preamp outputs. You should attach the left and right speaker wires from the head unit to each adapter and plug the adapter's RCA plug into the amp.
  • Line-Level Inputs: The amplifier is equipped with one pair of RCA inputs for connecting stereo RCA patch cables from the head unit to the amp. If your source unit only has one subwoofer output, a "Y" adapter should be used to split the mono signal into two outputs.

Cost, purely cost. A few good bench tests showed it being a good entry level amp as long as you dont push it to hard. [ Nicholas  Jan 27, 2019 ]

Well I'm using all stuff from mid to late 90's and early 00's. Which would blow away about most of the stereos around, that of which I spent maybe 300 bucks for. That includes, alpine R 12's in box, sound stream 880A amp, 4 channel fosgate 1500 watt amp, kappa 3 way 6x9's, OZ's 6" w/11/2" componants, kenwood head unit, full 1/0 wire kit with blocks, Optima batt ++ the 97 camry to put my childhood dreams into via 90s catalogs. So as I am now not in 1995,. I am upgrading to a current day amp. Lol [ Scootter  Jan 05, 2019 ]

I talked to Trevor (from Tech Support)! He listened to what I was trying to do with my existing audio equipment installed in my truck and what I want to upgrade/change and finally, what equipment I had chosen to complete it. He asked only 2 questions giving him all info he needed to be able to ensure that I had everything I needed to accomplish my audio masterpiece... I got a little hesitant about the total price and asked Trevor were there any other comparable units that cost less $ and voila! [ BRADEN  Jul 21, 2018 ]

I bought this amp for My son running 2 12" subs in his car. Have never had any troubles. Works great! We can here him coming from mikes away. We would buy again
[ GREGG  Jan 14, 2019 ]
A
Should be fine. This amp added alternator whine to my vehicle which I didn't have with Rockford fosgate amps. But definitely much better sound than RF.
[ pavel  Jan 13, 2019 ]
A
I would not, that amp is too much power for those subs. However if you were to buy a fourth sub and wired all of them together at 4 ohms this amp would be perfect
[ Eric  Jan 13, 2019 ]
A
yes you will have more than enough power
[ eric  Jan 13, 2019 ]
A
You won't find a better amp, this amp will shred those subs . Very well built amp. But I really suggest putting this amp on 12's.

I wanna buy the 12'' kicker L7R, two of them in a single enclosure... they require 1200 watts of power... is this item able to take care and provide the best sound quality from the subs?

Enter This amplifier works well my JL box 2 of 10 inches w2 the sound is good. But I am aware that the kicker w7 need a lot of power, more than my JL. I was a car sound installer and work the Kicker and you need a lot power to work them and that they listen well   answer to this question.

I would get a bigger amp so it's not being maxed out! I use it to push 1-12" Infinity Kappa perfect VQ series. I had the gain a little over half way turned up for just one. Each of my speakers as I have 2 but only use 1 can take a 1000+ watt amp per speaker

Yes, it will match perfect. Make sure you order the 4ohm DVC version
[ Nicholas  Dec 25, 2018 ]

It does around 1200 rms on a dyno. Should push one pretty good for sure. Make sure sub is running at 2 ohms. I am running 2 rf p3 10"s pretty hard on mine.

Thanks for your question. For information on comparing two or more models I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences and help you make the best choice for your system and your budget.

Depends on what you mean by kappa 1, but based on what I know about the k1000 its stronger, doesnt overheat easily, and you can hook up 2 or more high wattage subs to the k1000 since it's got the juice to support it.

This Amp is way better than it turns out to be i recommend this to any body using a sub that requires less than 1000 watts. Matter of fact this baby can power two of those infinity 10" with power to spare. Im still using it today and works like a charm doesnt overheat
