The legend continues...

Infinity's reputation is legendary, but their Kappa Series car speakers don't rest on those laurels. Designed and built for audiophile tastes, these Kappa 86cfx 6"x8" speakers benefit from a refined design, Infinity's proprietary technology, and premium materials to deliver uncompromised audio quality.

Edge-driven dome tweeters

Infinity employs an edge-driven design in their soft dome tweeters for a smoother, more open response and minimal distortion at high volume. The UniPivot tweeter design means you can aim each tweeter toward your ears, so you'll enjoy excellent stereo imaging even if the speakers are mounted way down low in your doors. Each tweeter also features a level control button so you can adjust the brightness to your taste.

Woofers enhanced with Plus One+ technology

Bring on the bass. Kappa's glass fiber woofer will hold its shape when the power's cranked up, so you still get punchy and defined bass. Glass fiber weighs less than traditional materials, so you don't need a ton of power to drive this woofer either. Infinity's Plus One+ woofer technology extends the cone right up to the edge of the basket, giving you lots of surface area — and a bigger cone means more bass to complement the superior high-frequency response.

Awesome power handling, no matter the system

These 2.5-ohm speakers boast ultra-high sensitivity so that you can power them with a factory radio or aftermarket stereo, but you'll get your best results feeding them plenty of power from an outboard amp. Either way, these speakers' low impedance safely takes advantage of every watt of power available for exceptional performance. Enjoy Kappa sound quality at any volume.

Grilles are not included; the factory grilles should be suitable for most applications.

Incredible low, mid, and highs!

Crutchfield customer from Castaic, CA on 9/15/2019

Incredible sound, so clear and crisp! I order two sets for my 2013 F-150 Raptor Crew Cab, one speaker had broken tweeter but Crutchfield expedited a new set right away. Installation with their instructions and supplied wiring adapters was easy. The speakers have a very full sound and I selected the +3db switch on the tweeter, for now the highs are amazing, I'll see how I like them on that setting. I would highly recommend for the price, the speakers are very high quality for the money and I am very satisfied with the low, mid, and high range sound they produce.

Pros: Great speakers for the price, you get what you pay for with the Infinity Kappa series.

Cons: None.

Rocking Tunes

These are great speakers! I just put them in my F350 and they crank! Great sound, good bass, no distortion when I turn them up. I bought the Alpine head unit ILX-W650 with the KTA-450 amp. I put the Kappa in the back Polk's Mobile Monitor 5'X7' in front, seems to be a great combination. They can handle more power than the KTA-450 amp can throw at them. At first I had the gain turned up too much on the amp, it actually clipped before any of the speakers distorted from too much power. I am a happy customer with the Kappa's. No complaints, I would definitely buy them again.

Pros: I like the screw connectors on the Kappa's. You don't have to worry about wrong size blade connectors.

Cons: None.

These brought the sound in my Mustang to life. I originally had the quite expensive Pioneer TS-D6802R speakers in the doors powered by a high end Alpine amp but I never could get them to sound right for me. Much happier now.

There's no need for buying a sub and box when you can get the same performance out of these door speakers. Probably the best quality of sound that I've heard in any door speaker.

Pros: Quality sound

Sound amazing. At first the bass sounded off but I closed the doors and 'BOOM BOOM' the bass filled my truck. Only complaint I have is the treble is kind of muffled and hard to hear at lower volumes with my truck running. Other than that I love these speakers and hope they don't let me down.

Pros:

Cons: Treble/mids arent the best.

Great Sound

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I upgraded my front and rear door (2005 Ford Excursion) stock speakers to these and they made a huge difference in clarity and sound quality. My truck is not the quietest, i get a lot of road noise and these speakers are able to get above that and sound great. The high's are crisp and the mids are well balanced, the base is as expected, way better than stock (for me) but without an amp these aren't going to punch. I will definitely replace the last 2 speakers in the rear of the excursion with these in the future.

Excellent sound quality

Running these on a stock "premium" system that has a high pass. Clean crisp highs, sharp mids, and good mid bass. No noticeable distortion. So much better than the stock "premium" speakers. After installing in front doors, I had to pop for the rear doors because the originals sounded bad back there in comparison

Pros: Great sound Easy install

Cons: Little pricey but worthwhile

Awesome speaker, I really like the fact that you can adjust the tweeter where you want it and lift or lower the sound stage. the bass on these speakers is very good not of woofer status of course but still good. I would buy them again! oh wait I did, bought two more for the back of my truck.

Pros: tweeter adjustment.

Cons: none so far.

2010 Ford F-150 Lariat

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

These 6x8s sound pretty good. I used them to replace the rear speakers in a 2010 F150 Supercrew Lariat. I wish I had used these up front too. Instead I used the Infinity Kappa 50.11s (separates with the 5.25" and tweeter). I cut the tweeters in or I would have pulled them and sent them back for another set of these. These Kappa 86cfx 6x8s produce way more punch than the Kappa 50.11cs 5.25s and although they are both rated at the same power, these sound "happy" when turned up. Unlike the 5.25's which sound like they are being stressed to the max and you hear the woofer flexing vs the low notes being pronounced. So in summary, I am happy with the Kappa 86cfx 6x8 and unhappy with the Kappa 50.11cs separates.

Pros: Sound great, they can handle power, sound punchy and don't fart out.

Cons: none

Features

Plus One Woofer Cones: The Plus One speaker cones offer more surface area than other speakers that fit in the same size opening. This is accomplished by using a new basket design and hi-roll surround. The result is greater bass output and an increase in efficiency.

High-Output Design: The high output 2.5Ω voice coil design compensates for the high in-line resistance of small gauge factory wiring and extracts every watt from factory receivers, increasing overall system output and efficiency (relative to 4Ω speakers). The speakers also benefit from increased power when you upgrade the wire and add aftermarket amplifiers, designed to power a 2.5Ω load.

Edge Driven Dome Tweeters: Each speaker has an edge-driven textile dome tweeter. Edge-driven tweeters have better dispersion characteristics and allow for a lower crossover frequency than typical tweeters of the same size, which improves imaging. The result is improved vocals and musical clarity. The tweeter also has an output level switch; choose +0 dB (flat) or +3 dB.

UniPivot Tweeter: The tweeter is angled and can be rotated about 270° after installation. This allows you to direct the tweeters toward the listeners, very useful for speakers mounted low in a door.

Mounting Applications: Infinity describes these speakers as 6x8, but they also fit many 5x7 applications. Please enter your vehicle information to confirm fit.

Terminals: The input terminals are set screws that will accept up to 12 gauge bare wire.

Q
This is listed as not fitting 2006 F150 standard cab, but the infinity reference of the same size are shown as a fit, I am wondering what is the difference between these or if they will fit my f150?
[ Teddy  Sep 16, 2019 ]
2 answers
A
Teddy, I have a 2013 F150 so the size may be different but I too noticed that these 6x8's fit in my truck while others did not. I believe that the issue is depth, specifically with the magnet coming in contact with the window and window structure. The Infinity Kappa 6x8 fit but I did check with a borescope and saw that there was not much "extra" clearance behind so perhaps other speakers have larger basket and or magnet assembly causing a clearance issue/contact between the magnet and window.

Why is this product listed as not fitting a 2014 Mustang?
[ Richard  May 25, 2019 ]

A
I'm pretty sure that 2014 mustangs have 5-1/4" door speakers. These are too big
[ Andre Decarlos  May 26, 2019 ]
Q
I am looking at replacing my Infinity Kappa 62.11i in my 2006 Navigator running a JBL Gx-A604 amp. The factory hole is 6x8 so I think the size will fit. My concern is my current speakers are 2ohm and these say they are 2.5ohm. Will 2.5ohm work with my amp? I'm looking for speakers that will sound as good as my current ones but will fit better. The previous owner put round speakers in a 6x8 hole without adapters and caused the plastic to crack.
[ Andrew  Mar 23, 2019 ]
1 answer
A
The stock mounting pattern is for a 6x8 speaker. As long as the crack isn't too bad, I expect you will be able to still use the stock mount and get these speakers installed. The 2.5 ohm will work with your JBL amp. It's so close to 2 ohms, that there will not be much, if any, noticeable difference in volume levels and these speakers will produce a fuller sound with lower bass than the 62.11i speakers can produce My Bio: https://www.crutchfield.com/bio/Paul
