Edge-driven dome tweeters

With this component system, you'll gain exceptional clarity and imaging, thanks to separate 3/4" edge-driven textile dome tweeters that subdue any harshness in the high-frequency range. Infinity includes external crossovers that give you push-button tweeter attenuation for a "brightness" quick fix.

Bigger woofers

The Reference Series polypropylene woofer with its durable hi-roll rubber surround ensures you'll enjoy powerful sound every mile you drive. Its oversized cone moves more air than other speakers of similar size, adding plenty of punch to the speaker's impressive performance.

Bring on the power

You can power these speakers with up to 125 watts of RMS power — they'll work well with an external amplifier, but they're also a good match for a factory radio or aftermarket stereo. Plus, these 3-ohm speakers combine with the speaker wire in your vehicle so your car stereo sees actual 4-ohm impedance, so you get a little more volume out of your system.

Woofers

Plus One+ Woofer Cones: Each speaker uses a larger cone than other speakers of the same size. This is accomplished by using a unique basket design and hi-roll surround. The Plus One+ design offers greater bass output and an increase in efficiency.

Hi-roll Rubber Surrounds: The hi-roll rubber surrounds allow the woofers a greater range of movement, resulting in longer X-max and more bass output.

Tweeters

Material: Each tweeter features a 3/4" edge-driven textile dome for smooth, accurate highs.

Mounting: The I-Mount tweeter mounting system and Starfish mounting brackets give you several different ways to mount the tweeters:

  • I-Mount: The tweeters can be surface- or flush-mounted with Infinity's innovative I-Mount system:
    • Surface Mount: Surface mounting the tweeters involves screwing the surface-mount cup to the mounting location, then inserting and locking the tweeter into the cup.
    • Flush Mount: Flush mounting is made easy through the use of the threaded flush-mount housing and plastic locking nut. Once a cutout is made, the tweeter is installed in the flush-mount adapter, then into the flush mount housing and inserted into the hole. The large plastic locking nut is threaded onto the adapter (from behind the mounting surface) to hold the complete assembly securely in place. When flush mounted, the tweeters may be angled for optimum response and imaging.
  • Starfish Mounting Brackets: The Starfish mounting brackets allow the tweeters to be installed in factory locations behind the grilles:
    • Bottom Mount: Once the Starfish bracket is trimmed, it is secured to the underside of the grille panel. The tweeter must be inserted into the bracket and locked into place before the bracket is mounted.
    • Surface Mount: Once the Starfish bracket is trimmed, it is screwed to the top of the mounting surface behind the grille panel. Then, the tweeter is inserted into the bracket and locked into place.
    • Flush Mount: There are two sets of tabs to flush mount the tweeter in the Starfish bracket, yielding different mounting dimensions. The upper tabs mount the tweeter completely below the opening and are glued in place. The lower mounting tabs are screwed in place and result in a mounting height just under a half inch. Once the bracket is mounted, the tweeter is inserted into the bracket and locked into place.

Crossovers

Selectable Tweeter Output Level: Each 2-way crossover allows you to select the tweeter output level according to system requirements and personal preference; the tweeter level can be set to +3 dB or 0 dB.

Connections: The crossover inputs and outputs are screw terminals; they will accommodate bare wire or spade connectors up to 0.31" wide. There are four mounting holes in each crossover.

Dimensions:

  • Width: 4"
  • Height: 1-1/8"
  • Depth: 3-1/4" (plus wire)

Specifications

High-Output Design: The 3Ω voice coil design compensates for the high in-line resistance of small gauge factory wiring, extracting more power from factory (or aftermarket) receivers. This results in clearer, richer sound for the listener.

Customer Q&A

Q
In a 2017 dodge challenger with the basic 6 speaker sound system would you need the crossover? If not would it just be tweeters in dash and front woofer door with factory wiring using the UAQ 8.4 headunit?
[ JASON MICHEAL  Aug 09, 2022 ]
1 answer
A
These crispy and delicious Infinity Reference REF-9630cx would need the crossover with any install, J P. You would need to connect the crossover at the door speaker location, then run a new wire through the door to the dash tweeter location with these. Infinity actually does not include the extra wiring to the tweeter with these so make sure to pick up extra if you go that route! If you do not want to run that custom wire through the door OR hide the crossover in the door, you could also consider these Pioneer TS-D69c D series 6x9 components in the link below. These fit in the non Alpine 6 speaker 17 Challenger and they have the crossover built into the tweeter wire, so you could direct connect to your existing dash wiring. We will even give you a free harness AND bracket to mount in the dash too with either pair! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_130TSD69C/Pioneer-TS-D69C.html

Q
If I am using Infinity Reference REF-3032cfx instead of the tweeters it came with, do I still use the crossover provided?
[ Calen  Apr 23, 2022 ]
2 answers
A
I would think you would want to use the external crossover I don't believe the 3032s have crossovers. Look at the specs to make sure it will cut off where you want them to.
[ DAVID  Apr 23, 2022 ]
A
I am using the 3032 with this system WITH the crossover provided with the 9630. I have had no issues with that setup for a year now. If you do not use the crossovers, use the bass blockers that came with the 3032. Overall I recommend using the crossovers though. Also, just an FYI, I believe the 9630 tweeters do handle more power than the 3032 speakers.

A
I went with an Alpine S Series 6x9 2way carbon fiber reinforced .
[ ED  Apr 23, 2022 ]
A
I would not use the crossover. I would use a bass blocker tuned to about 600htz

A
If you are not using the tweeters, I don't think you need the crossovers. My understanding is that the factory head unit has a crossover built in. However, if you are going to install a replacement head unit then you should rewire to include the crossovers.
[ JOACHIM  May 02, 2022 ]
A
Sometimes Certain tweeters go with certain crossovers, but all a crossover does is send the right frequencies to the correct speaker so it should work fine
[ PARKER ANTHONY  Apr 25, 2022 ]
A
A tweeter will require a crossover to protect it from low frequencies. If impedance matches I would use provided crossover.
[ ROMUALDO J  Apr 25, 2022 ]
Q
why is my components not playing there own frequencies?
[ CarnageMercs  Jun 15, 2021 ]

A
I have had my components for just over a year, and I haven't had any problems out of mine...I didn't do the install myself,so the stereo shop tuned my crossovers and amp for me...you can check the crossovers that come with the components
[ CHRIS  Jun 17, 2021 ]
A
They are playing the signal sent to them. Check your connections, as it sounds like possibly the subwoofer signal is going to the speakers,
[ JEFF  Jun 15, 2021 ]
A
I'm a little unsure about your question. If you use the supplied crossover there will be some overlap in frequencies near the crossover point. The gradual fade is proper to ensure coherency. In other words, there won't be a defined point where the woofer and tweeter stop responding. Also, I experienced that there will be some break in time where the woofer becomes better with a little age. I suppose that's due to the woofer's spider becoming more pliable. So, don't quickly discount the bass quality, be patient. I hope this helps.

do you have the cross-over wired properly? Are the vocals low sounds?
[ DOUGLAS  May 13, 2021 ]
A
You should... maybe. When you see a spec of a certain crossover point, it doesn't mean a complete cutoff frequency. There's a blending happening from the lows to highs, giving a more seamless aural experience. In other words, a more realistic rendition of the performance. The great thing about the Infinity system is that the woofer is low mass and nimble, never muddy and heavy. That makes the placement of drivers less critical for good sound. Not to be insulting, you may need to check the crossover wiring to ensure the tweeter and low haven't been inadvertently switched. Otherwise, enjoy.
[ Henry  May 13, 2021 ]
Q
How do you connect the crossovers? Is there a video?
[ GARY  Jan 15, 2021 ]
1 answer
A
To connect the crossovers you would need to cut or disconnect the outgoing wire from the head unit and connect to the incoming terminals of the crossover. Than rewire two separate wires to the tweeter and woofer respectively.
[ JOACHIM  May 02, 2022 ]
Q
What amplifier do you recommend for these speakers?

Thanks for your question. For information on selecting the best amp I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences between the amp models and help you make the best choice for your system.

Sorry, didn't install an amplifier.
[ Richard  Jan 01, 2021 ]
Q
When setting these up on a pioneer gm d1004 amp, what do I select on the amp 4ohm or 2ohm?
[ Jaime A.  Nov 17, 2020 ]

I believe 4 ohm, I would suggest that you check the spec's on the speakers and/or ask crutchfield customer service
[ Sean  Nov 17, 2020 ]
A
4ohm
[ RITA  Nov 17, 2020 ]
Q
Is an aftermarket amplifier required for these speakers? My Chevy cruze has a stock amp so would i just wire these in like the stock speakers?
[ Ian  Jun 19, 2020 ]
2 answers
A
You can use the factory amp
[ MICHAEL  Jul 06, 2020 ]
A
no, it is not required, I replaced stock f150 speakers with these, the sound improved dramatically, sound is much, much cleaner, fuller and tighter than stock but these will not be any louder than your stock speakers. imho, you won't experience their full potential without adding an amp, the sound quality is amazing, improved by an order of magnitude after I added an lcq-1 and focal 4ch amp,
[ JULIO  Jun 25, 2020 ]
Q
What is the crossover frequency and slope?
[ Thomas  Sep 09, 2019 ]
1 answer
A
These specs are not released by Infinity, and therefore the included crossover should always be used with these components sets.
