Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
Was looking for noise-canceling headphones that I could take to the gym. These seemed to fit the bill. Purchased these mainly because they were JBL, and the JBL speakers in my car rock, so why not? Pros. These have the look of very solid headphones. They just feel really substantial. Initial sound quality is good. I like how it comes with an app to control the noise cancelling. Cons. First off, they were uncomfortable. Even the smallest earpiece left my ears feeling very sore. Second, the noise cancelling feature was ineffective, and actually had the effect of worsening the sound. I listened to an entire album near other noises around the house like the TV, kitchen fan, etc. and noticed ZERO difference in ambient noise with the noise-canceling turned on or off. When the music's playing, all the ambient noise is drowned out, but any rubber-tip in-ear headphone should be able to pull that off. But during the quiet parts of a song, or between songs, I could hear all the background noise pretty clearly. Think how much noise would creep in for podcasts or audiobooks! When the noise-canceling was on, the headphones emitted a high-pitch whine that almost sounded like interference. Now, I understand how noise cancelling works, but it's not supposed to be THAT noticeable, and the noise very quickly gave me a headache. I had to stop listening after about an hour. Crutchfield is awesome and gave me a paid return label after a 30-second phone call. Next
Pros: Nice style, substantial design and materials. The cord is just the right length, and it came with plenty of different ear pieces
Cons: "Noise cancelling" was ineffective, and sets off a buzzing whine that gave me a headache. Earpieces were very uncomfortable.Crutchfield response on 8/30/2017 Walther contacted our Customer Support team and set up a return. Purchases from Crutchfield can be returned or exchanged within 60 days.
