About the JBL Bar 2.1 Deep Bass

Get low
Get low
JBL's entry-level sound bars are incredibly popular because they provide a big improvement to your TV sound at a very reasonable price. The Bar 2.1 Deep Bass adds even more bang for your buck with a wireless subwoofer. The sub's 6-1/2" down-firing woofer delivers the low-end rumble that gives this combo its name.
And the bar is no slouch either. Its low-resonance enclosure houses six drivers — four long-excursion racetrack-shaped drivers and two 1" dome tweeters. The bar's "Smart Mode" makes sure you get great sound no matter what you're watching by applying EQ settings and digital signal processing to deliver rich sound effects for movies, sports, and shows.

Add more rumble to your games with JBL's Bar 2.1 Deep Bass.
Easy connections
This duo is super-simple to set up. The sound bar can connect to your TV with a single cable. You can wall-mount it with the included brackets or just place it on your TV stand — it will look great either way, thanks to its streamlined design. It also has Bluetooth built in, making it easy to wirelessly stream your favorite tunes right from your compatible phone.
The included subwoofer is wireless, so you can place it almost anywhere in the room. It just needs to be within about 30 feet of the sound bar and in the general vicinity of a power outlet.

Features
Active Soundbar: The JBL BAR 2.1 Deep Bass system brings dynamic sound to your TV audio. The JBL BAR 2.1 Deep Bass's active soundbar speaker houses two 1" dome tweeters and four oval "racetrack" midrange drivers powered by a 100 watt (Peak) amplifier.
- JBL Surround Sound: JBL Surround Sound Technology delivers a virtual surround sound effect from a two-channel active soundbar speaker. You can choose between two JBL Surround Modes - Smart or Standard. With the Smart mode enabled by default, you can enjoy TV shows and movies with rich sound effects. For TV programs, such as news and weather forecasts, you can reduce sound effects by disabling the Smart mode and switching to the Standard mode.
- Audio Sync: With the Audio Sync function, you can synchronize audio and video to make sure that no delay is heard from your video content to the active soundbar speaker system.
Wireless Powered Sub: The JBL BAR 2.1 Deep Bass's wireless powered sub features a down-firing 6.5" woofer in a bass reflex enclosure with a rear-firing port. A built-in 200 watt (Peak) amplifier is used to drive the 6.5" woofer and deliver deep, impactful bass. Because the powered sub is wireless (up to 20'), it puts no unsightly cables between the soundbar and subwoofer; still requires a AC power cord connection. You can adjust the bass level (Low/Mid/High) of the powered sub from the included IR remote.
HDMI 1.4 Input/Output (ARC): The JBL BAR 2.1 Deep Bass is equipped with one HDMI 1.4 input and one HDMI (ARC) 1.4 output. The HDMI input and output support up to 1080p video (including 3D), as well as 5.1ch Dolby Digital and 2ch PCM. The HDMI (ARC) output allows audio to be sent from your ARC compatible TV to the BAR 2.1 Deep Bass through the same HDMI cable already being used to send audio and video to your television, eliminating the need for extra cables connected to your TV.
Note: The ARC-enabled HDMI input of many televisions only sends an audio signal in 5.1ch when receiving Dolby Digital from the TV's built-in tuner, network connection, or connected USB device; and will output only 2ch stereo from sources connected to the TV via HDMI, or RCA (like your Blue-ray/DVD player or satellite/cable box).
Optical Digital Input: In addition to HDMI connectivity, the JBL BAR 2.1 Deep Bass is outfitted with an optical (toslink) digital input that supports 2ch PCM and Dolby Digital (up to 5.1ch). The digital optical output terminals of many newer flat-panel TVs only send an audio signal in 5.1ch when receiving Dolby Digital surround sound from the TV's built-in tuner, network connection, or connected USB device; and will output only 2ch stereo from sources connected to the TV via HDMI, or RCA (like your Blue-ray/DVD player or satellite/cable box).
Note: This soundbar is not equipped with an analog audio input.
Bluetooth Audio Streaming: The JBL BAR 2.1 Deep Bass is equipped with built-in Bluetooth 4.2 with support for wireless audio streaming (A2DP 1.3). You'll be able to wirelessly stream stored music, music apps, and other audio content from your Bluetooth-enabled device (such as your smartphone, tablet, laptop, or computer) to the soundbar speaker system. You will still use your Bluetooth source device for playback control and to view song/artist/album info. You can pair multiple Bluetooth devices with the BAR 2.1 Deep Bass, but only one device can be used for playback at a time. The system has a wireless Bluetooth range of approximately 33'.
Note: The JBL BAR 2.1 Deep Bass does not support Bluetooth hands-free communication for making and answering phone calls.
Remote Control: The JBL BAR 2.1 Deep Bass comes with an IR remote for wireless control of the soundbar system. The soundbar system can respond to "Power On/Off", "Volume Up/Down" and "Mute" commands from the remote of a HDMI CEC compatible television. If your TV remote does not control the soundbar automatically, you can program the BAR 2.1 Deep Bass to respond your TV remote's "Volume Up/Down" and "Mute" commands.
Mounting Options: You can place the JBL BAR 2.1 Deep Bass's soundbar speaker on a shelf or tabletop, or wall-mount it with the included brackets. The wireless powered subwoofer can bepositioned between 3' to 20' away from the soundbar speaker. Make sure the sub is at least 4" away from the wall to accommodate the rear-firing port.
Power Requirements: Both, the active soundbar and wireless powered sub, will need to be plugged into an AC wall outlet, surge protector, or power conditioner. Each includes a detachable 5' AC power cord.
Auto On + Standby: The JBL BAR 2.1 Deep Bass will automatically power on whenever it senses an audio signal from its HDMI & Optical source inputs. The soundbar system will automatically switch to standby mode after approximately 10 minutes of button inactivity and no audio playback from a connected source.

Very simple to set up; bass is full enough and remote is easy to use. One thing I'd like is greater control over the frequency spectrum -- in particular, the ability to boost the midrange, where vocals live.
