About the JBL Club 3020

The well-rounded speaker

It's simple. Your factory speakers are getting you down. JBL's Club Series speakers are the clear solution. JBL equipped these Club 3020 3-1/2" coaxial speakers with UV-resistant polypropylene woofers for stellar performance even under the stickiest (or chilliest) environmental conditions — after all, your car door isn't the most forgiving place to reside.

The speaker's patented Plus One™ woofer structure extends the surface area of the cone to give you a better midbass experience than other speakers this size. And a PEI balanced dome tweeter expands the high-frequency range, so you'll hear musical details that you never heard from your old speakers.

A match for any system

The Club 3020's low-impedance design safely draws more power from your car stereo to give your music extra punch, but you'll get even better results feeding them power from an outboard amp. JBL also includes separate high-pass filters to remove low bass from these speakers if you require it.

Grilles are not included; the factory grilles should be suitable for most applications.

Great for my 2014 RAM 1500

I purchased these speakers for my 2014 RAM 1550 Crew Cab. They are night and day from the factory. I love them. I have the 6930's coming for my doors. I cannot wait. The istall was easy as well. I do recommend using the base blocker that comes with the speaker. You install on it on the + terminal of the wiring. No one talks of these blockers so I felt compelled to say so. I am running the standard heat unit which is the 8.4 Uconnect. I love these speakers in my dash.

Pros: sound and install

Cons: didn't do it sooner.

These sound great even with just aftermarket radio power. I have a convertible and the sound cuts through the wind noise. I recommend them without hesitation.

Pros: Sounds great!

Cons: Can't think of any.

Pleasantly surprised at how nice these sounded. Definitely would recomment

Pros: easy to install

Cons: For some reason Crutchfield sent screws with these for my 2017 subaru legacy when they were definitely not needed. i used the stock screws that i took off as the instructions indicated.

Junk

Crutchfield customer from Georgetown, TX on 3/28/2019

I am very disappointed with JBL. I've always used JBL speakers as my go to brand for any car audio needs. Most of my home audio too. I'm not sure if it is just this particular vehicle that does not like them, or if the factory Boston Acoustics system really was "that good", but these things sound horrible in my 2009 Grand Cherokee. The highs are very tinny and the mids are muddy. I installed these with their 6.5" counterparts all the way around the vehicles and it sounds absolutely awful. I'm leaving these in for now, because I blew on of the Boston Acoustics 3.5s, but I've already replaced the factory speakers in the doors for now. As far as I am concerned this club series from JBL is junk.

Features

Plus One+ Woofer Cones: Each speaker uses a cone larger than other speakers of the same size. This is accomplished by using a unique basket design and hi-roll surround. The Plus One+ design offers greater bass output and an increase in efficiency.

Tweeter: Each speaker has a PEI (Poly-Ether-Imide) balanced dome tweeter. PEI is a polymer film that produces a wide soundstage for superior imaging.

High-Output Design: The 3Ω voice coil design compensates for the high in-line resistance of small gauge factory wiring, extracting more power from factory (or aftermarket) receivers. This results in clearer, richer sound for the listener.

Crossover: The included 270 microfarad capacitors are 1st order high pass crossovers (6 dB/octave); the crossover point is approximately 196 Hz. One capacitor is wired in-line with the positive input of each speaker.

Customer Q&A

1 question already asked

Q
My dodge doesnt have the infinity 7 speaker stock system. It has only a 4 speaker system. However the holes are there in the dash that these could be mounted in place if they could be wired into the system. What would be the best way to add a set of 3 1/2s to the 4 speaker system? Im using a pioneer aftermarket head unit and currently have the factory wiring harness for it. Could these be added and used in this setup?
[ Adam  May 26, 2019 ]

A
You are correct that you should still have the speaker cutout despite not having a factory speaker there. The best way to add additional speakers to that system would be to add an aftermarket amp - have you upgraded any of the original 4 speakers? You could power those 4 speakers with a new amp and power the smaller 3 1/2" in the dash from the Pioneer head unit. The alternative would be to wire the 3 1/2" speakers in parallel with the front door speakers so both are playing the same front L/R signal. This drops the impedance and would potentially strain the Pioneer head unit. If you have additional questions or concerns or want to look at speakers that fit your vehicle you can connect with one of our friendly product advisors here: https://bit.ly/2QNxGQB
