Features

High-Output Design: The 3Ω voice coil design compensates for the high in-line resistance of small gauge factory wiring, extracting more power from factory (or aftermarket) receivers. This results in clearer, richer sound for the listener.

Tweeter Mounting: The I-Mount tweeter mounting system and Starfish mounting brackets give you several different ways to mount the tweeters:

  • I-Mount: The tweeters can be surface-mounted or flush-mounted with JBL's innovative I-Mount system:
    • Surface Mount: Surface mounting the tweeters involves screwing the surface-mount cup to the mounting location, then inserting and locking the tweeter into the cup.
    • Flush Mount: Flush mounting uses the threaded flush-mount housing and plastic locking nut. Once a cutout is made, the tweeter is installed in the flush-mount adapter, then into the flush mount housing and inserted into the hole. The large plastic locking nut is threaded onto the adapter (from behind the mounting surface) to hold the complete assembly securely in place. When flush mounted, the tweeters may be angled for optimum response and imaging.
  • Starfish Mounting Brackets: The Starfish mounting brackets allow the tweeters to be installed in factory locations behind the existing grilles:
    • Bottom Mount: Once the Starfish bracket is trimmed, it is secured to the underside of the grille panel. The tweeter must be inserted into the bracket and locked into place before the bracket is mounted.
    • Surface Mount: Once the Starfish bracket is trimmed, it is screwed to the top of the mounting surface behind the grille panel. Then, the tweeter is inserted into the bracket and locked into place.
    • Flush Mount: There are two sets of tabs to flush mount the tweeter in the Starfish bracket, yielding different mounting dimensions. The upper tabs mount the tweeter completely below the opening and are glued in place. The lower mounting tabs are screwed in place and result in a mounting height just under ⅜". Once the bracket is mounted, the tweeter is inserted into the bracket and locked into place.

Crossover: The passive crossovers are installed in-line with the included speaker wire. The crossovers' 24" input wires are not terminated (bare wire on the end). The 33" output wires are terminated with female quick slides that mate to the terminals on the wire attached to the tweeters. (Including the 3" crossover length, the wire is 60" total.)

Customer Q&A

6 questions already asked

Q
Do these come with a crossover?
nick  Jun 04, 2023
1 answer
A
They do Nick! The JBL Club 3412T Club series tweeters have 2 in-line crossovers included with the speaker wires attached. These have JBL's edge driven silk, they are crisp and detailed yet smooth and an excellent choice to replace older tweeters.

Q
Can you install these into any car?
turbet  Nov 07, 2021
1 answer
A
Tweeters are generally not vehicle specific. That's why they come with different installation options. For a custom installation, drilling, hot glue, backstraps, etc. may be required. Surface mount options are available as well if there is no specific area for tweeters.

Q
Im purchasing some JBL car speakers that are 3 OHM. Should I buy 4 OHM or 2 OHM Subs to compliment my stereo. Also is a 5 channel amp a good idea or should i use two amps?
jeffrey  Jun 24, 2021
1 answer
A
Thanks for your question. For information on selecting the best amp for your subs I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences between the amp models and help you make the best choice for your system.

Q
I have a 2018 F-250 Platinum. Should I must install the crossovers? What could happen if I don't install them?
yamill  Nov 25, 2020
1 answer
A
Without the crossover the tweeter would be subject to the full range of audio.. it is only intended to see highs so playing without a crossover would destroy the speaker. To get optimal sound output and quality you must meet the requirements of each speaker in your system meaning watt peak and rms, ohms, and playable frequencies diff manufacturers have diff specs so consult your Google search bar to find out

Q
Do I have to use the little pigtails that come with? And do I need an amp?
timmy  Jun 04, 2020

A
The pigtails that have an OEM plug are nice, no splicing necessary. Amp not necessary, depends on what your trying to accomplish.
jason  Jun 04, 2020

SorryI I do not know as I had professionally installed in my Porsche!
philip  Jun 04, 2020
A
You do not need a amp but they sound louder and more crisp with one. You do not have to use the pigtails it comes with. It is there if you do need them though. I only used the tweeter itself and the factory bracket and soldered the wires together after cutting off the factory plugin.
