About the JBL Stadium GTO930

Alexander H.

Say goodbye to factory sound

One of my favorite moments during a car audio installation is pulling out an old, ragged factory speaker from its location and then picking up its new, aftermarket replacement. And if you're installing JBL's Stadium GTO930 premium car speakers, the immediate difference is a dramatic jump in design and build. From the hefty magnet to the oversized voice coil with shimmering copper, you can see and feel improvement — now just imagine how much better they'll sound than the browning antiques that have been filling your ears with compromised audio for so long.

Edge-driven dome tweeters

JBL created their GTO930 6"x9" 3-way speakers as a hi-fi solution for those who want better sound in their vehicle. You'll find an edge-driven design in their dome tweeter for a smoother, more open response and minimal distortion at high volume levels. Each tweeter also features a level control button so you can adjust the brightness to your taste. JBL adds a textile dome supertweeter to bring home all the ultra-high details.

Woofers enhanced with Plus One+ technology

JBL's glass fiber woofer will hold its shape when the power's cranked up, so you still get punchy and defined bass. Glass fiber weighs less than traditional materials, so you don't need a ton of power to drive this woofer either. JBL's Plus One+ woofer technology extends the cone right up to the edge of the basket, giving you lots of surface area — and a bigger cone means more bass to complement the superior high-frequency response.

Power handling perfect for any system

These 2.5-ohm speakers boast ultra-high sensitivity so that you can power them with a factory radio or aftermarket stereo, but you'll get your best results feeding them plenty of power from an outboard amp. Either way, these speakers' low impedance safely takes advantage of every watt of power available for exceptional performance. Grilles are included.

Features

Plus One Woofer Cones: The Plus One speaker cones offer more surface area than other speakers that fit in the same size opening. This is accomplished by using a new basket design and hi-roll surround. The result is greater bass output and an increase in efficiency.

High-Output Design: The high output 2.5Ω voice coil design compensates for the high in-line resistance of small gauge factory wiring and extracts every watt from factory receivers, increasing overall system output and efficiency (relative to 4Ω speakers). The speakers also benefit from increased power when you upgrade the wire and add aftermarket amplifiers, designed to power a 2.5Ω load.

Edge Driven Dome Tweeters: Each speaker has an Edge-driven soft dome tweeter. Edge-driven tweeters have better dispersion characteristics and allow for a lower crossover frequency than typical tweeters of the same size, which improves imaging. The result is improved vocals and musical clarity. The tweeter also has an output level switch; choose +0 dB (flat) or +3 dB.

Super Tweeter: The GTO 930 adds a super tweeter to reinforce the high frequencies and keep pace with the larger cone of the 6" x 9" woofer.

Terminals: The input terminals are set screws that will accept up to 12 gauge bare wire.

Customer Q&A

5 questions already asked

Q
Why won't these fit in a 2004 Jeep brand Cherokee?
[ Bryan  May 04, 2021 ]
1 answer
A
These 6x9 speakers need more mounting height that we found available in the vehicle and expect the tweeter will be pressed into the stock grille. We have other speakers that can fit and advisors you can be reached by calling 1-800-324-9695 who will discuss your goals and any preferences to give a personal recommendation on speakers that meet the needs and are expected to fit.

Q
Which one is better 930 or 939?
[ J  Nov 23, 2020 ]
1 answer
A
No idea but the mids are great on the gto's. Dont count on the highs to be great sound quality just really loud. You will need a good tweeter for SQ.

Q
What's the reason these won't fit in a 2016 Nissan Frontier?
[ MITCHELL  Jun 03, 2020 ]
1 answer
A
The magnet diameter and the mounting height are both too great. They would not fit without making significant modifications.

Q
Whats the reason that these don't fit a 2012 Dodge Caliber SXT?
[ Tal  Sep 26, 2019 ]
1 answer
A
There are two reasons. A) The magnet is too wide and is blocked. B) the available mounting height in that vehicle is 0.624", these speakers require a minimum of 0.858" of mounting height.

Q
My amp is pushing 180 watts (bridged) at 4 ohm - I have toasted a pair of budget JBL 100 RMS 4 ohm. Can these speakers hold up to my amp and is the ohm difference going to fry amp or speakers? These are 2.5 ohm my JVC amp is rated at 4 ohm.
[ James  May 14, 2019 ]
1 answer
A
I expect that these speakers' lower ohms will either hurt the amp or pull even more power and get toasted even faster than your last set. I do not recommend using these speakers with your amp. I'd suggest looking for 4 ohm speakers that can handle at least 120 watts RMS or up to 250 watts RMS. We have advisors that you can reach by calling 1-800-324-9695 that will discuss your goals for the sound and help recommend speakers that will work My Bio: https://www.crutchfield.com/bio/Paul
