Power delivered in style

JBL's GTR-7535 5-channel car amplifier can supply each of your four full-range speakers with 75 watts RMS while it drives a sub with up to 350 watts — you can power your entire system with one relatively compact amplifier.  Even better, you can stream music directly from a Bluetooth device to this amp, while its built-in processing restores the excitement in your music that data compression removes.

Restores the excitement in your music

Downloaded digital music and streaming services apply data compression to their files so you can store more of them on your devices, but compressed music sounds noticeably duller than uncompressed files. Harman's Clari-Fi™ sound restoration technology improves the sound quality of your digital music by analyzing the data and then reconstructing the parts that were removed during the compression process. You get crisper highs, increased dynamics, clearer vocals, and fuller music.

Connectivity

You can stream music from a Bluetooth device directly to this amp for convenient, wireless play that bypasses your car's radio. The Party Mode feature allows up to three different sources to stream, so more people can join in the fun. The included wired remote gives you handy controls for Bluetooth streaming, hands-free calling, Party Mode, and Clari-Fi signal processing.

Versatile

You want more power? You can put the GTR-7535 into 3-channel mode and drive a couple high-performance speakers with 200 watts RMS each, along with 350 watts for the sub. You'll find variable high- and low-pass filters on the front and rear channels for increasing the efficiency of your speaker system. The subwoofer channel features a low-pass filter, phase switch, and bass boost to optimize the performance of your sub and enclosure combo.

Good but could be better

I was recommended this amp by a Crutchfield tech when I told him I wanted to keep my stock radio in my 2016 Honda Accord. This amp puts out plenty of power to my Morel speakers and 12" Sub with no issues. It doesn't have the ability to turn on when the car turns on though... which is what i wanted when I decided to keep my stock deck. You have to run a control deck to the front of the car and figure out where to install it. The only place I could put it is in the center console without having it be an annoying eyesore in the car. So every time I get in the car I have to open the center and turn on the amp. This amp would be perfect if you had an old vehicle that doesn't have a deck then this will be perfect for you. But like I said, it was more of a hassle to send the amp back so I just made it work for me.

Pros: Powers my Morel speakers and 12" Rockford sub with no issues.

Cons: Does not turn on automatically, you have to run a control deck into the car; defeating the purpose of wanting to keep a stock deck.

The amp has the power I wanted and the sound quality is great. I cannot say enough good comments about this amp.

Pros: Low cost with better than average sound quality

Amazing sound for size and price. Bluetooth feature allows me to stream all my music and not have to change out the factory head unit, so I didn't lose functionality of Onstar, etc. Installation was a bit more involved, as I rewired all the speakers. Definitely worth the extra effort. I will be installing another one in a dune buggy, hidden and using Bluetooth only.

Don't expect to much from a 5 Channel

Brian from Dublin, OH on 2/26/2018

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Appears to be a Great amp but for me, it has not enough power for the Subwoofer, It says 350W RMS, but it feels more like 250W and my car is making 14.7V. I'm using a JL Audio TW3 10" Sealed Subwoofer enclosure 400W-RMS (CS110G-TW3). Also There is no Birth Certificate or CEA-2006 rating to be found so I'm just using my Butt Dyno. I'm going back to the past and will be installing a traditional 4 channel and a Mono for my system. If you had a Classic Vehicle with an Original Radio, this could work well for you since it is Bluetooth capable.

Pros: Easy to Set-up and Inter-grate Cheaper that setting up 2 separate amps Bluetooth is great

Cons: Needs more power for subwoofer channel

This amp is pretty awesome, everything sounds amazing, the amp keeps nice and cool, the sub is bumping hard. Really great amp for the price for sure. My only issue is that the amp does not have a subsonic filter, besides that this thing is great. The ClariFi thing is something you may hear some debate about, but how much better it sounds with ClariFi is really dependent on the song. Some songs improve quite a bit, while others I can't tell much of a difference really.

Decent and but their's better options

DAVID from Vancouver, WA on 2/4/2018

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

This amp is nice but I wouldn't recommend it unless you have a 2 ohm sub. I used this with a 4 ohm sub at first and the bass was severely lacking. Upgrading to a better 2 ohm sub helped a lot but there's just not enough power going to the sub and too much going to the speakers. My upper-mid level Kicker 6.5s and 6x9s completely overpower the sub. JBL realized this after releasing this amp because their newer amp, the Club, distributes much more power to the sub and less to the speakers.

Pros: Compact, clear sound.

Cons: Too much power to speakers, not enough to the sub.

I purchased this amp based on previous JBL purchases. I have always been impressed with the sound quality. From soundbar, component speakers and subs..I have never been let down. This amp allowed me to have just 1 amp and does everything I needed. I have a 1998 Tahoe and this amp is running JBL GTO609C speakers and a JBL S2-1024 10 sub and rear roof speakers with no problem. Amp stays cool and everything sounds amazing.

Pros: I amp for everything...plenty of power. Amp does not get hot. Great expandibity and built in bluetooth.

Cons: None as of yet.

installed this amp with 4 jbl stadium 6.5 speaker set. This amp pumps, hard hitting, drums sound like a cannon. The sound goes through you. Sounded like a sonic boom. The bass does not rattle the speaker. it rattles the truck. You can feel the bass. The wired remote works good. The bluetooth is great, I just use the bluetooth. My radio is disconnected from the speakers. The amp is well built.

Pros: heavy well built. no radio needed, bluetooth. powerful

Cons: nothing at this time

This amp is a great All in One package. I bought this amp because i wanted bluetooth functionality without changing my stock stereo and it works like a charm! I'm running my Type R components bridged and my Sub hits hard as well. Clarify works although I can't tell how much.. If you want to play music from your phone without connecting the amp to the stereo you can do that as well.

Great amp , sounds great with my Rockford subs and infinity reference door speakers . Plenty of power and the amp is a great size to tuck away out of sight . Fits perfect under the seat of my ram 1500. Bluetooth works good as well , pretty cool feature if your headunit does not have it . Clari-fi also does a nice job making the music sound more defined . Recommend to anyone looking to amp up their system and make everything sound like it should.

Pros: Everything

Amazing sound quality. very small comparing to its capabilities. Love the bluetooth and clarifi. Clarifi makes a subtle difference that you may or may not notice, but it does sound slightly better. I feel its a bit soft volume wise, its not that loud. But that's maybe because I'm using an 8 Gauge power cable. anyway, I'm running 4x20W OEM speakers and a subwoofer. I don't think it will need that much power for it. One more thing, I can switch the amp on and listen to music even when the car is off (not on ON or ACC mode even) thanks to the supplied remote.

Pros: Small Clear Bluetooth 5 Channel

Cons: Not so loud (maybe because I'm using 8 gague power cables)

Nice amp. I have had a lot of problems making my 2015 Lincoln MKC factory stereo sound descent since you can't replace the head unit. Had I known the issues I was going to have, I would not have purchased this car. Not sure what I would have bought since most audio sales people do not know what works. I wanted the Bluetooth option because getting the EQ settings was not working. I added JL Audio Fix to my system and calmed it down some. The Bluetooth option works ok but I'm not a fan of looking at my iPhone while driving. A good playlist is important! A remote EQ would be a better choice than the Clarifi. Still a good choice for an amp!

Pros: Good powerful amp Clean sound

Do your ears a favor and get this amp

Took me a while to finish setting up my sound system because I had to rewire the entire car. But this amp is the truth! I knew that JBL wouldn't let me down and they didn't. I had to bypass my factory amp and ended up bypassing the head unit as well. Being able to play music straight from my phone or tablet with the factory head unit off, worth the time and money. Okay meat and potatoes! The amp is a lot smaller than it looks, which is good because I needed to save as much space as possible. Install was a breeze once I routed all my wires to the trunk. The amp is solid built, kinda heavy too, which I also like. Features, with the clarify on, you can hear everything! I listen to mostly jazz, I mean wow! Even my friend who's a producer couldn't believe the quality of the sound and the details. I can go on and on but to make a long story short, get the five channel amp and start listening to your music the way God intended. One more thing, party mode takes the aux cable out of the equation. Anyone can jump in at anytime without the need to pass the aux cable around. I have 0 complaints so far and it's been a couple of months now since I installed it.

Pros: Solid build, small enough to fit anywhere, Bluetooth straight from the amp. Clarify button, sound quality, doesn't overheat and the list goes on.

Cons: Zero, I have nothing but pros

Absolutely love this amp. The audio in my car sound amazing now, and will let it get loud while staying clear of distortion. Works perfectly with my 12" JBL subwoofer and JBL component and 2 way speakers.

Pros: Provides Plenty of power, with no distortion at any volume that the loudness itself will hurt your ears. Flawless Bluetooth. Clarify enhances the quality while I'm streaming music from Pandora.

Cons: Absolutely nothing.

Sounds good, but have no clue about the new "predict" technology that I had pre ordered and waited forever for. Don't know if it's on, off or even exists. Only a generic quick-start manual comes with it and 2 year olds know that info. No user guide came with it, not available at JBL website, nor anywhere on the web. I'm at a loss. All I know is that it basically sounds better than my previous amps, when using Wav (lossless) files. Not gonna try anything else until they at least give me a hint on how to operate it.

Pros: Small footprint, 5 channel, decent sound

Cons: They don't even give you a hint of a user guide to tell you how to operate any of the items they've be raving about for the last year. How am I supposed to tell them if I like it, if I can't even play with it? Just a basic amp as far as I'm concerned. Sure wish they'd have included some guidance, or at least a link to some. Geeeeze!

Product Research

Features

Overview: The JBL GTR-7535 is part of the GTR Stadium series of high-performance amplifiers. This full range Class D 5-channel amplifier will accept both high-level and low-level inputs. It has four full-range channels, and one channel dedicated to subwoofers. Class D amplifiers are highly efficient and compact, generating lots of power without drawing much current or generating heat. The GTR-7535 includes Clari-Fi, an audio restoration feature that improves the sound of compressed digital files. The amp also includes a cabin-mounted control panel to give you amplifier control at your fingertips. The unit comes with spare fuses, speaker wire-to-RCA adapters, and mounting hardware.

Power Output: The GTR-7535 delivers the following power output:

  • 75 watts RMS x 4 + 200 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms (<0.1% THD+N)
  • 100 watts RMS x 4 + 350 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms (<0.1% THD+N)
  • 200 watts x 2 at 4 ohms bridged (<0.3% THD+N)

Clari-Fi: Clari-Fi is a proprietary technology that analyzes compressed digital music files and improves them in real time. Using a predictive algorithm that restores audio content that is lost during the compression process. Clari-Fi provides extra bandwidth, especially in the high frequencies, widens the sound stage, and gives vocals a natural warmth not found in compressed files.

Control Panel: The amplifier comes with a wired control panel that provides numerous features not typically found with amplifiers. It has Bluetooth technology, and an omni-directional microphone for accepting and ending phone calls from your cell phone. Party Mode lets you pair multiple Bluetooth devices for streaming music from anyone's phone. The control panel also lets you activate the Clari-Fi feature. The panel is 4-7/16"W x 15/16"H, and has a 19.5-foot cable. It can be flush- or surface-mounted with the supplied brackets.

ADAS: The GTR-7535 has an interface for the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) that can override the audio source input to deliver a message or other audio from a connected ADAS accessory. On the amplifier, you can designate which speaker the ADAS signal is output: Front left, front right, rear left, or rear right.

Protection Circuitry: The amplifier features protection circuitry for thermal overload, over- or under-voltage (<9V or >16V), and short circuits. The LED on the top of the amp glows red if the amp goes into protection mode.

Controls: The GTR-7535's controls are located on one side of the amplifier. The rotary controls require a small screwdriver (not included) to make adjustments. The amp controls include:

  • Gain: The rotary gain controls let you match the amp's input sensitivity to the output of the source unit. The input sensitivity range of the amplifier is 0.2V and up for a low-level input, and up to 20V for speaker-level input. There are separate gain controls for the front, rear, and subwoofer channels.
  • Input Level: The Input Level switch lets you select the type of input you are using. For high-level input, there are two settings: Hi1 and Hi2. If the audio system fails to play with an amplifier connected to its output, or you get a "speaker disconnected" message on your factory stereo, set the switch to the Hi2 position. The Hi2 position includes a circuit design to fool this type of factory system into "seeing" a speaker connected to its output.
  • Crossover: The amp features switchable crossovers for the front and rear channels that can be set to low pass (LPF), high pass (HPF), or Full Range. The subwoofer channel also has a low pass filter. You can adjust the cutoff frequency of the crossovers from 32Hz to 320Hz using the rotary controls.
  • Subwoofer Controls: Dedicated controls for the subwoofer channel include gain control, low pass filter (32-320Hz) bass boost (0-9dB), phase control (0°/180°), and sub input (Internal/External).

Connections: The JBL GTR-7535 uses set screw terminals for the +12V power, ground, turn-on (remote) lead, and speaker outputs. The screws can be tightened/loosened with a Phillips-head or flat-head screwdriver (not provided). The amp connections include:

  • Power/Ground: The +12V Power and Ground terminals will accept up to 4-gauge wire. It is recommended that you use 4 AWG power wire to the battery, with an in-line 90A fuse (or higher) installed no more than 18" from the battery terminal. A 4 AWG ground wire (minimum) is also recommended, and attached to a metal area close to the amplifier.
  • Speaker Outputs: The amp features screw terminals for connecting five speakers. There are markings on the terminals for bridging the front and rear channels.
  • Speaker-Level Input: The amp includes four bare wire-to-RCA adapters for connecting the amp to a factory radio or aftermarket head unit without preamp outputs. You should attach each speaker wire from the head unit to an adapter and plug the adapter's RCA plug into the amp.
  • Line-Level Inputs: The amplifier is equipped with three pairs of RCA inputs for connecting stereo RCA patch cables from the head unit to the amp.

classic car - this is the best solution rather than removing OG AM Radio or adding head unit to glove. I was shopping for a digital receiver and started looking at amps when i found this - seems like a no brainer for my situation. [ Michael  Oct 16, 2017 ]

Needed some solid power and really no need for a head unit. This fits the bill nicely. [ David  Sep 29, 2017 ]

Positive reviews and I think this is a good brand to own. Needed a good 5 channel amp (not needing a million watts) for a good price, so this seemed to be the best choice. After I have it installed and am using for a few months I will be able to give a review on how good of an amp it is. [ Mark  Sep 20, 2017 ]

One word, Bluetooth. Well maybe two or more. As I'm building this amazing sound system, I want to save as much trunk space as I possibly can. So using a 5 ch. amp instead of two separate amps helps me accomplish just that. + it's JBL! Can't go wrong with that! [ RENEL  Mar 24, 2017 ]

Q
Would this work with the stock sterio in a Jeep Wrangler 2007-2017?
[ Luke  Feb 09, 2018 ]

A
You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you.

Q
How big of an alternator would you recommend for this amp? I'm looking to get this amp, but my stock alternator is only 100 amps and it's old, so I'm wondering if I should upgrade it to a 130 watt alternator.
[ Brent  Dec 18, 2017 ]

A
If it's old, and you're planning on replacement, do the upgrade. However, the amp doesn't draw its power directly from the alternator, it draws it from the battery that the alternator then supplies the power to recharge. If you hook up this amp and have issues with it dimming your headlights, etc., you'd be better served with an in-line capacitor than an upgraded alternator

I'm sorry, I haven't installed the amp yet so I don't know how it will work with my alternator.

I haven't installed this amp yet but my 1967 Camaro and 1965 Malibu only have 100 amp alternators and similar sized amps. They work without any problems.

I think your stock alternator should do just fine this amp seems to be really efficient and the sound quality is very nice my wife's car has the stock alternator haven't had any dimming lights now if you're building a boom machine an alternator would be something you would definitely have to look into but with this amp think you would be fine and if sound quality is what your after this amp is pretty sweet

Depends on what other electrical items you have going. I jave a 65 amp alt in my car. Battery stays charged. But then my car is 52 years old and has nothing really drawing on it other than the radio/amp. If you are unsure it might be worth the extra $ and some mental insurance to go with the 130.

Q
Can I use a bass control switch to control my subwoofer? Alpine and RF have such controls that I can use while driving to control the level of bass.
[ Miguel  Sep 26, 2017 ]

A
This amp does not come with a remote control for bass like my last one did (not JBL). I wish it did. We are at the mercy of how music is recorded. With these new cars that have too many menus to go through before you can adjust sound, we are lucky there aren't more accidents related to this. This is a good sounding amp though.
[ Daniel  Sep 27, 2017 ]
A
Yes, you can use a base control switch with this amp. My recommendation would be to use the signal from the rear speakers as opposed to the front speakers. The base control switch will deminish slightly the power to the speakers they are attached to, but not enough to notice.
[ Wade  Sep 26, 2017 ]
A
Yes, you can. There are Bass control and gain control knobs for the sub output.
[ Mohammed  Sep 26, 2017 ]
A
It doesn't come with a gain knob if that's what you're asking. You would have to see if you could purchase one separately to do that. When I install the 5 channel version I didn't see any provisions for hooking one up to the amp directly. Hope this helps.

Q
Can I run this amp without a head unit? I would like to just use my phone as the source of the media, maps, and phone service. If so how is the volume level controlled?
[ James  Jul 27, 2017 ]

A
Yes. Exactly what I do in my classic car. The phone volume controls the volume.
[ Mark  Aug 05, 2017 ]
A
Yes it works great without a head unit. Volume controlled through IPhone. Sound quality is great.
[ Hanh  Jul 29, 2017 ]
A
This is the perfect amp if you don't want to run a head unit. It has a remote.
[ Jason  Jul 29, 2017 ]
A
Yes, you can. Use the gain control to increase or decrease volume, find what's comfortable , and then use the volume control on your phone to increase/decrease the volume.
[ Matthew  Jul 28, 2017 ]
Q
What are the dimensions of the remote?
[ Dan  Jun 07, 2017 ]
1 answer
A
The included wired remote control panel measures 4-7/16"W x 15/16"H, and has a 19.5-foot cable. It can either be flush- or surface-mounted with the supplied brackets. If you'd like to discuss further, feel free to reach out to an Advisor by phone (888.955.6000) or online chat. Hope that helps!

Q
Where can I find a user manual for a GTR 7535? Please don't tell me the JBL site because they don't have one. No where on the net does one exist. You'd think they'd at least give you a hint,....
[ Fast Ed  Apr 17, 2016 ]
1 answer
A
Once we've completed our "Hands On Research" for the product, we'll make the manual available under the "Details" tab on the amplifier's main webpage. You'll find a link for it under the "What's in the Box?" heading. Now that we have them in stock it shouldn't be long before the manual is added to our webpage. I hope that helps!
