About the JBL P1024
Do you want maximum performance from your subwoofer? JBL puts Plus One technology to work in the Power Series P1024 10" sub a deeper cone and taller surround produces more effective cone area than on a standard 10" subwoofer, for more efficient operation and bigger bass output.
The P1024's high-tech cone combines Kevlar and paper into a combo that's strong, light, and ready to lay down the lows without distracting distortions. A sturdy die-cast frame and reinforced internal parts ensure reliability you can count on for the long haul.
Note: If you are wiring this DVC sub for lower impedance, make sure that your amp is compatible. Most 2-channel car amplifiers are stable down to 2 ohms in standard mode, or 4 ohms in bridged operation. Most mono amps are stable down to 2 ohms.

JBL P1024 reviews
This speaker puts out 5-star sound when driven by a 400W RMS amp and when enclosed by a box built to JBL's specifications. You can't simply buy a subwoofer box with these specs. The specs are so odd that the subwoofer box must be custom-built, likely by the end user. Once all the hard work is done and everything is installed, there isn't a better 10" or 12" subwoofer on the market with 400-watts RMS. This thumps more accurately, cleaner and deeper than any of the subs in the 300 to 400 range. It's a terrific buy, but it requires a lot of effort to achieve the sound you're looking for. That's why I only give it 4 stars.

Plus One Cone: The JBL Power Series subwoofers feature Plus One woofer cones. Each Power Series subwoofer features more cone area than comparable subwoofers of the same size. This increase in cone area means an audible increase in bass output and efficiency.
Woofer Materials: The woofer has a Kevlar-impregnated paper cone. This combination of materials has a high strength-to-weight ratio for higher sensitivity, and adds stiffness for a more accurate bass response.
Die-Cast Frame: The thick wall construction of the die-cast frame offers maximum rigidity to support the heavy motor structure of the speaker, and ensure the motor structure stays centered in the voice coil gap. The frame is fully vented to provide maximum movement of air behind the cone and spider.
Stitched-in Tinsel Leads: The tinsel leads are stitched into the spider in two places to greatly enhance reliability and eliminate audible tinsel lead slap.
Dual 4-ohm Voice Coils: For increased system flexibility, the woofer has two 3" 4-ohm voice coils. When the voice coils are wired in parallel with each other, the woofer presents a 2-ohm mono load. When the voice coils are wired in series with each other, the woofer presents an 8-ohm mono load. In addition, each voice coil may be connected to a different amplifier channel and each channel will see a 4-ohm load.
Recommended Sealed Box Volume: JBL recommends a 0.75 cu/ft sealed enclosure.
Recommended Ported Box Volume: JBL recommends a 1.25 cu/ft ported enclosure. One 3" diameter x 8-5/8" long port, tuned at 33Hz, should be used with the 1.25 cu/ft enclosure.
Recommended Bandpass Box Volume: JBL recommends a bandpass enclosure with a 0.75 cu/ft sealed rear chamber and a 1.25 cu/ft front ported chamber. One 4" diameter x 4" long port, tuned at 50Hz, should be used with this enclosure.
Power Handling: The woofer has two 4-ohm voice coils, and each voice coil can handle up to 200 watts RMS (800 watts peak).
