Quality and affordability

Great bass usually depends on your wallet, as a nice sub and powerful amp can cost serious cash. Now JBL steps up with some help for the bass-hungry, designing their affordable Stage subs to help you get strong bass when your bank account's a little weak.

Great power handling

The Stage 810 features a polypropylene cone for enhanced stiffness, supported by a nitrile rubber surround that'll stand up the abuses of life in your ride. This 8" sub will handle up to 200 watts RMS (800 watts peak), and it works equally well in sealed or ported enclosures, so you can get the kind of bass you want.

Reliability

The big 1.5" voice coil contributes to this sub's impressive power handling, while airflow from the cone's movement cools the voice coil for exceptional reliability. And, speaking of reliable, JBL puts these subs through a rigid testing process that includes baking, freezing, and blasting them with power for days on end, all so that you never have to worry.

Enclosure Recommendations
  • Sealed Box Volume: 0.35 ft³
  • Ported Box Volume: 0.42 ft³ with one 1.97" diameter x 6.7" long port
  • Band Pass: JBL also recommends prefabricated band-pass enclosures. Band-pass enclosures often provide the most output available from any amplifier and subwoofer combination, but at the expense of sonic accuracy.

Q
I have a 2017 Expedition EL Limited and the woofer is a Sony with two 1.2 ohm 60 watt connections (9L3T-18808-DA). How will the Stage 810 connect up to this? Also i'm trying to diagnose the issue and the speaker is crackling, is that the speaker or possibly the amp? Anyway to confirm one way or other.
geoff  Sep 02, 2020
1 answer
A
It should just connect right in just as long it's the same size speaker. For crackling it could be both or the wires. The only way to confirm which is causing the problem is to start out with the simple one first. Like check your connections it might be loose or bad. Then if it's still doing it change the speakers or amp. Now if change all those things then it might be the noise filter at the alternator. Hopefully this helps you.

Q
I have a 2010 Toyota Avalon Limited with the JBL 12 speaker Synthesis Sound system w/navigation. Will this sub mount to the factory rear deck center sub hole with ease? Or will I need to do some modifications??
derek  Feb 26, 2020
1 answer
A
We do not have a subwoofer that will be an easy fit into the stock location in that vehicle. Mine will need a mounting bracket made to help hold it back in the factory spot and most likely will need new screw holes drilled into the rear deck to hold it back in place. Another thing to keep in mind is that the stock subwoofer has a 2 ohm impedance and a replacement sub being connected to the stock amp should also be 2 ohms. We have advisors that can be reached by calling 1-800-324-9695 who can discuss this to help you find a subwoofer that works for your application

Q
What is the RMS range? Details say up to 200 RMS. Would 150 watt rms amp be able to drive this?
dean  Jan 13, 2020
1 answer
A
Hi Dean, thank you for your question. Yes! You could drive this subwoofer with an amp that is outputting 150 watts RMS at 4ohm. Feel free to chat with us online or by phone at 1-800-324-9695. We will be happy to get you setup with an amplifier that will work great with this, and ensure you have all of the wiring you will need to complete your installation.

Will this be a straight swap for my blown OEM subwoofer on a 2006 Toyota Avalon Limited or do I need to make any modifications before I install it?
prince  Jan 02, 2020

A
I am not sure about your model. Mine was 2007 Solara Convertible and I had to drilled the holes to mount the sub.
duc  Jan 04, 2020
A
You need to find out if your stock speaker is a 4 ohm sub if it is I believe it would work fine
robert  Jan 03, 2020
A
You will need to modify a mounting bracket for new sub. The new speaker should come with a mounting ring bracket that you just have to cut a little bit
joshua  Jan 02, 2020
A
I was able to do a straight swap.

Q
Does this sub woofer come with an installation kit like door speakers do?
patrick  Oct 24, 2019
2 answers
A
It only includes the foam gasket. You can use hardware from old sub or or speaker.
duc  Oct 25, 2019
A
No. The only thing in the box is the speaker and the manual/info on the speaker. The manual does explain the size of the box needed (sealed and unsealed), etc.

Edward, I would agree with Matt! One of our advisors will be able to help you get you the right gear for the job! https://www.crutchfield.com/support/ContactUs.aspx

Not sure where your mounting the speaker on your motorcycle because it is a sub woofer. But I would recommend a marine grade speaker to handle water exposures. Also, How big of a sub box ? You may need a free air speaker instead? I would recommend calling crutchfield directly to fit your application for a motorcycle.

Q
I have a 2009 Toyota Camry hybrid with the JBL sound package, I am having the most difficult time finding the correct subwoofer. Can anyone please shed some light on this for me?
joshua  Jun 28, 2019

I replaced a 20 year old sub in my wife's 2000 Avalon. Even though it was a JBL system and its better than the stock it still had paper & tin construction. The JBL STAGE 810 is light years better than the stock. The fit was perfect and the sound is fantastic. Still utilizing the stock JBL receiver and amp. So if your looking for a replacement and still utilizing all the stock equipment this will work. And if you decide to up grade the system the 810 will still handle it. If this fits your application Crutchfield sends all you need to install it ( except some one to install it for you)

I purchased the JBL Stage 810 for a 2003 Avalon. I only has one and this worked perfect for me I have a JBL system with AMP. Slight modification to mount it but easy to connect.

I would like to install this sub to replace the factory sud in my 2012 Hyundai sonata. My car does have a factory amp. But the factory sub did not come with a sub enclosure. Its open to the trunk. Will this sub still work and give good sound?
rafael  Jun 17, 2019

You need a amp to give good sound. Believe me this JBL sub sound very good. Try it then let me know. Good luck.
angel  Jun 27, 2019
A
The vehicle into which I placed this same JBL speaker was also open to the trunk, and the sound after installation seemed perfectly fine.

I installed it in a 2001 Toyota Avalon, without many difficulties (all of my own making). I know this does not answer your particular question, but the speaker itself is excellent and fits well, at least in the 2001 Avalon.

I have a 2003 Avalon. If I buy this, can I just plug and play or do I need an aftermarket amp?

my 2001 had a factory amp. So mine was easy to install. Crutchfield sent plug and play plugs.

I installed in a 2001 Avalon. It is plug and play, but does seem underpowered by the factory stereo. If you're looking to get more bass than you had with the original speaker, an amp would be needed.
kevin  May 14, 2019
A
Its a subwoofer designed to handle high power---Im sure it would work without an additional amp but, Im not sure if it would sound very loud :)

Q
what is the difference between a component sub and a regular sub?
michael  Mar 14, 2019
2 answers
A
Hmm I think that's probably just wording. A component sub would be just the woofer - no enclosure or amp or anything.
casey  Mar 20, 2019 (Staff)
A
Not sure. It is a single voice sub. Figured that out when installing. I like it. My factory amp doesn't give it enough power to bump but it does sound very nice.
