Great mids and highs tight bass but weak.

JARED from Dracut, MA on 8/18/2019

2019 Honda Civic

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

The price is great, highs and mids sounds are crisp and clear, they also get great power from 180 watt factory head unit on the 2017 Honda Civic ex. The bad is factory speakers had so much more bass much louder but not tight, these speakers have tight bass but weak if almost non existent. If you run a aftermarket sub to these it will be a perfect match and sound will be full because of the great mids and highs. That's what I did love them now.

Pros: Great price, great mids and highs, tight bass.

Cons: bass is tight but weak, my factory speakers had much more bass, definitely benifit from a sub to balance these out.

Overall a great speaker for the money. Sounds so much better than my old factory speakers when paired with my factory radio. Would I buy again with a stock setup and no amps added yes.

Pros: Takes very little power to push them so pairs well with a factory radio.

Cons: Of course not much bass from a 6.5 inch speaker.

Not bad, not great. Lacking low end bass.

Not bad, not great. You get what you pay for. They are better than the OEM speakers I took out, but otherwise they are a little lacking, especially based on their specs. They are lacking in the low/bass end of the range. They are pretty good for mid-range and highs. I got two pairs, one for the the front and one for the back. I installed the back ones, but I will be returning the set I got for the front and looking for something better.

Pros: Price, name-brand perceived quality, good mid range and highs

Cons: Poor bass

Perfect replacement speakers!

For years, we'v e been driving around enjoying the sound mostly coming from the back speakers, not giving it much thought... A friend, (who had been sitting in the back, trying to talk over the blaring back speakers), suggested we upgrade the front door speakers. We found these Kenwood speakers, a perfect fit thanks to Crutchfield. We never knew what we were missing! Now we can listen to Clapton the way God intended!

Pros: Reasonably priced, and easy to install.

Speakers installed on a 6th generation S550 Mustang

Crutchfield customer from San Juan, PR on 7/31/2019

2015 Ford Mustang

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

This is an average speaker. It is good for the price, but not a good all-around speaker. Quality is way above of the price, I have seen speakers more expensive with horrible cheap materials. This is not the case. They are easily moved by factory system and they will sound loud. So what's the catch? Even though they claim a remarkable wide frequency response they don't really deliver al the low end, at least not as expected. I don't want to give the wrong impression these speakers will provide decent sound on a very short budget. But if you are obsessive with the sound of your system you will probably want to look elsewhere.

Pros: They are loud, they work fine on the factory amp, they are a steal for the price and are built on good and resistant materials.

Cons: Don't recommend to have these feed by aftermarket amp, factory system take them to the limit. They don't really respond to the claim frequency band.

I ordered these to replace my stock speakers in my 2012 Hyundai accent, VERY EASY INSTALL, love how the brackets and wiring came free and even with my stock radio, (which is underpowered for these speakers) still sounds amazing and you cant beat the price for clean sound and smooth bass. Thanks crutchfield!

Pros: Easy install, clean sound, amazing price for the quality.

Cons: You have to drill new holes to install them but that's not even a problem.

These, for the price, are great sounding speakers that provide plenty of sound. In my car the front two speakers act only as subwoofers and while the bass is nothing like what it would be with a subwoofer it definitely shakes the seat and will be perfectly fine for someone not wanting to spend a ton of money. With the harness and mounts that come with the speakers specific to your car it is a super simple process and is literally plug and play. You will not be disappointed.

Handles high frequencies every well. Handles mid range OK, too. Little to no low end. I have them matched with a Kenwood amp providing more than enough power to show these speakers off. They're just anemic. If you're looking for an affordable OEM replacement that will clear up your sound, these are ideal. BTW, Crutchfield has already sent a replacement set that should get closer to the sound I'm looking for.

Pros: Price Mid and high sound quality Decent sensitivity Low power requirements Crutchfield's service

In my 2000 Honda civic These speakers are giving me what I was after which was clear highs and and mid range. For the bass I have 6X9's in the rear deck. These a driven only by a Clarion deck without any extra amps. The overall sound is pretty good for the equipment that I have.

2015 Nissan Versa S

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Installed in a 2015 Nissan Versa S (base model with horrible factory radio and speakers). These were a great improvement over the factory speakers, the stock speakers had no volume no matter how much I turned it up. These are way louder than I would ever need them to be. After running these with the factory head unit for a while I put in an aftermarket radio and these things completely exceeded my expectations for the price. Using the head units high pass crossover and eq these sound very good, and any rattle I got with the factory head unit is now gone. Just don't expect these things to have a lot of bass, which is not a problem in my case since I have amplified subwoofers. Installation was easy, wiring adapters and mounting ring fit perfectly. I currently see no need in upgrading these speakers as long as they continue to work.

Pros: High sensitivity Easy to install

Cons: Not a lot of bass Won't see real potential without high pass filter and eq tuning

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Put them in the door of my '89 Mustang. They... suck. If you try to have literally any bass, they distort and sound blown. I don't mean window rattling, I mean just enough for it to sound "full". I see I'm not the only one with these issues, either. Dad and I have had good luck with Kenwood in the past (Indeed, the rear speakers are also Kenwood, and while not perfect, are much better than these) so I'm highly disappointed in these. No amount of fiddling with the EQ helped. Actually, I'd say the stock speakers from 1989 sounded better with the new head unit than these did. At least from my memory of the 20 minutes I drove it with them. I'll definitely be replacing them shortly.

Pros: Easy to install

Cons: Can't handle any bass

Crutchfield response on 7/10/2019
Joseph, that's a common reaction when replacing car speakers. In the case of these Kenwood speakers, they're going to need more power than your factory speakers needed in order to sound their best. They likely won't sound good at all on a factory stereo. You'll either need to add an aftermarket stereo or an amplifier (a small, 40-50 watts, 4-channel amp can supply twice the power of an aftermarket stereo and three or four times the power of the typical factory radio) or return these and get speakers with a higher sensitivity. Either way, we'll be glad to help - just give us a call.

The speakers are awesome. With some fabrication and use of the old speakers the installation was not too bad. The new rings that were sent, we could not make them work at all. So we improvised and removed the old cone. We set the speakers on them aligned them straight and drilled new holes. Secured with screws and installed with ease. Overall the aforementioned was not the speakers fault nor does it change how the speakers work. They are a good speaker and I highly recommended them to anyone.

The first thing I noticed when I started to play music through them was how much clearer they are compared to my factory speakers, they also have an impressive bass as well. I am still using my factory deck but I have purchased a new one so I will update my review on how the speakers sound whenever I get the new deck installed. whether you plan on replacing both the speakers and your deck or just the speakers I highly recommend these because they have an excellent sound and are worth the money.

I had gone to a sound store for an idea about the cost of having new speakers installed in my '02 Dakota and felt that it was just too much money for the work to be done. Since I had the time and some technical experience, I purchased the Kenwood speakers from Crutchfield and installed them myself. Took a few hours of my time but was worth it for the savings.

Pros: Saves money, sounds good

Cons: don't care for "standing on my head" to install speakers in a cramped space, the back part of an extended cab Dakota.

Front door replacement 6 1/2" speakers, installed in the factory spring locked brackets. Solid installation with no buzzing or rattling. Very good sound in midrange and tweeter frequencies. Bass is not prominent, but is good enough if the volume is turned up. With my new Kenwood radio and four new speakers, my truck sounds great again.

Pros: Fit original mounting brackets. Nice sound.

Cons: If you want booming bass, buy a subwoofer. No complaints as it is.

Good replacement speakers for 2002 Toyota Sequoia

Scott from Columbia, SC on 5/15/2019

2002 Toyota Sequoia

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I purchased these speakers for a 2002 Toyota Sequoia SR5 to replace the original front door speakers that were cracking. First, speaker quality: very good for the money, relatively inexpensive so I didn't expect great sound, but they are fine & much better than what I've been listening to for the last few years. Good choice for an older, second car. Next, installation: relatively easy. What I love about Crutchfield is they included a wiring harness that works with my vehicle, so wiring is a snap, no splicing necessary, they emailed (without me asking) detailed instructions on how to remove the door panel (easy) and install the speakers, and included a mounting bracket, which you must have. I found many opinions on-line about what bracket works and for my basic factory installed stereo, the Crutchfield bracket worked fine. I saw on YouTube someone made his own bracket--not necessary for the basic SR5 setup, but may need a different one for the JBL system. Since there was no foam gasket, I added strips of double-sided tape between the speaker and bracket, and between the bracket and the car door to minimize vibration noise. So, for less than fifty bucks and about an hour of my time, it's as good as new. And since Crutchfield includes the wiring harness and bracket, cheaper than Amazon.

Pros: Good sound quality & value for the money. Excellent installation instructions from Crutchfield. Free mounting bracket and wiring harness makes installation easy. Arrived earlier than expected, within a few days or ordering. Easy do-it-yourself job with basic tools, takes about an hour.

Cons: No foam gaskets included (good idea to minimize vibration). After market bracket may not fit 100% perfectly, but works with a little manipulation--no modification to the bracket necessary.

I'm definitely not an audiophile and bought these speakers, honestly, because I got them at 50% off with the purchase of a Kenwood receiver...lol. At this price point, I didn't have super high expectations but needed replacements for my kaput factory speakers. Installation was a breeze and I am very impressed with their performance. As far as I'm concerned, they can't be beat. If you're looking for concert hall sound you should spend a lot more but for my purposes, I'm totally pleased!

These are a simple replacement for the stock 6.5" speakers. Much larger magnet I bet these will hit hard with a little more power. Currently using the stock radio until I can swing a new one.

Pros: Easy install with the wiring harness adapter that Crutchfield included. Pretty simple if you can pull off the swap without pulling the door lock

Cons: Had to pinch the connectors a little to get them to snap fully down into place. You know you don't want a loose connection.

Upgraded to these from factory, it took some finagling to get them mounted in the front doors of my 2004 chevy 2500hd but once i figured out what size hole i had to drill for the driver door, the passenger side was a breeze. The rear was not as complicated as the front, holes did not line up but i made it work. I should have just used some self tapping screws, but i didn't have any handy. Sound is great and what an improvement from factory speakers that where wore out.

Pros: Sound quality

Cons: Mounting to front doors took some drilling and time to make them fit. Speakers should come with self tapping screws for chevy front doors.

Nice basic speaker.

Pros:

Cons: Instructions seem incomplete. I was required to put new holes in for mounting these speakers yet the area behind where that was necessary seemed like something really solid. I ended up using really short screws into just the plastic. Hopefully they will hold.

Good enough for the price. I was hoping for a little better bass response judging by the sensitivity and range specs. Still a lot better than the stock rear door speakers though.

Pros: Inexpensive, free adapter plates and plug and play wiring.

Cons: Mounting directions are backwards. you have to mount the adapter plates to the door first, then the speakers to the plate.

Stereo with harness + rear speaker installation

Crutchfield customer from Haines City, FL on 3/27/2019

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

My sales representative was really nice and answered all my questions, even questions about other vehicle components and how to's. Ordering from Crutchfield was so easy, and the equipment I received was exactly what i ordered. Installation with the rear speakers were a breeze, however the type of vehicle [1999 VW Beetle] I have made it such a headache... but the wiring snapped right in and the speakers bolted right on. I just have to finish the head unit wiring, but everything I received as far as the wiring harness for the deck, all I have to do is match the colors [just need a day off to do it]. You always have help and you can't go wrong with Crutchfield... they do all the hard work so we can do it ourselves and save big dollars. I'm definitely ordering more gear for my other vehicles...!!!

Pros: Pay for the extras, like the wiring harnesses, wiring kits, ect..., and the simplicity is even more amazing.

Cons: Nothing to complain about, except just need the time to finish the installation.

I was really hoping for a little fuller sound. Guess I should've expected this for the money, virtually the bass is nonexistent. Sounds like I may be buying a powered sub soon. Need to fill in the lows for sure . These Kenwood 2way speakers were very easy to install in my little Lexus I purchased a set for the front doors and the passenger doors.

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Lost my front door speakers and Missy from Crutchfield recommended these Kenwoods for replacement. They sound great, a good replacement for OEM. Installation was fairly easy. I did buy a tool kit for removing door panels that made it a breeze, no broken panel clips. The parts supplied by Crutchfield for installation of the new speakers fit exactly and required no special work. Everything snapped into place. Only thing that could have been better would be to have received foam ring replacements that were on the original speakers to help dampen the sound, but not a deal breaker. Overall, completely satisfied with my experience with Crutchfield.

Pros: Great replacement for OEM. Delivery in two days. Great customer service from tech department.

Just put these in the rear doors of my 2019 Jeep Cherokee. It took about an hour to do the front and rear. They were initially meant for the front doors, but I went with 3-way Pioneers instead due to power consumption. They are a bit drowned out by the Pioneers in the front and Kickers in the dash, but are better than stock.

Love my speakers

All 4 riginal speakers had rotted. These new speakers where a nice fit. Instructions indicated that door molding would need to be cut for proper fit. To my delight the speakers and wire harness dropped right in without any cutting. The job was so easy I had all 4 installed in under 30 minutes. Radio sounds great although Honda Elements are hideous about picking up road noise which takes away from the experience but that is no fault of the speakers.

Pros: Great fit, great product, great price, great support, great company to buy from. Thank you Crutchfield!

Cons: None!

Replaced my factory door speakers that were on their way out. I won't say its the most amazing clear sound I've ever heard..but it's nice having both speakers working again and they do sound clear. Easy install on my 2006 silverado, only took an hour taking my time.

Pros: Easy install Clear sound Price

Great speakers for the price, especially getting them on sale. Was worried about the bass that others have commented on, but since I also installed a new HU it wasn't an issue. Easy to install on my 07 Pilot EX. Didn't need to cut the plastic factory bracket.

Crutchfield supplied all connectors and instructions for the speakers free of charge. Hands down one of the most professional companies I have ever dealt with. Speakers are a Christmas present, and I have yet to install them, but I know they will be right or Crutchfield will make it right. Always have.

No bass, disappointed

Crutchfield as always does a wonderful job. Installation kit and wiring harness are great. I bought 4 to replace all my speakers to match after rear speaker started rattling. Put in rear deck first because it is really easy. Disappointed! I can't bring myself to put them in the front doors. The sound is so much better with my stock. The Kenwoods do have better highs but nothing else at all. I have an aftermarket Kenwood Excelon powering them and no matter what I do to try with my EQ and crossover I can't get them to sound half as good as the factory. Little disappointed when I mentioned to a Crutchfield sales associate when I described the issue and he said I need to put them on a amp. I am in my late thirties so having a system is behind me. Also, if I was building a system I would buy component Infinity speakers. I bought inexpensive speakers to save money, not to buy more electronics. Crutchfield is great, just didn't expect that. All the great reviews saying these are great sounding are a little overstated. I don't think Mitsubishi factory speakers should ever sound better. If you need a inexpensive speaker these will do but don't expect volume from them or bass. *Crutchfield gets high marks

Pros: Highs are good

Cons: Lows are terrible. Stock sounds better and put out more volume. Can not handle high volume. Bass is non existent. The highs are good but tinny sounding.
