Product Research

Tweeters: Each speaker has a 1" PEI balanced dome tweeter. A semi-dome tweeter has a dome placed inside a cone. Balanced dome tweeters are semi-dome tweeters with equal reproduction area given the cone and dome portions of the tweeter. PEI (Poly-Ether-Imide) is a polymer film that produces a wide soundstage for superior imaging.

Mounting: The speaker basket has multiple mounting holes and is designed to fit a standard 3-hole 6-1/2" application, Ford's 4-hole 6-1/2" application, and a standard 4-hole 6-3/4" application. (When mounting in a 6-3/4" application, use a speaker baffle to seal the inner ring of screw holes.)

How does the cover attach to the speaker?
[ Mike  Nov 05, 2019 ]

The grille is attached to the speaker using screws.

Can I connect this to my 2005 g35 sedan with a Bose system (from factory) with out having to buy an amp or anything else? Can I just put it and listen to music with out any modifications?
[ Carlos M  Oct 03, 2019 ]
1 answer
While these can be installed into the front and rear doors without having to do any modifications, we do not recommend using them with the stock Bose amp. The stock speakers have a lower impedance than these speakers which means these Kenwood speakers will not even get you back to the same volume levels that you have now. The PowerBass L2-652 speakers fit just as easily as these and also have the lower impedance to work with the Bose amp. Here they are:

I have a 2006 pontiac grand prix and I was wondering what typer of this speaker I needed?
[ Aislynn  Sep 03, 2019 ]

Aislynn, This will depend on whether you have the Monsoon System in that Grand Prix. You may want to reach out to one of our advisors for more personalized help!

I have a 2010 Colorado. The front doors have tweeters in the top, and speakers in the bottom. Am I gonna have to get tweeters too? Or am I good with just these speakers? Are the existing tweeters gonna cause a problem with the tweeters on these speakers? Am I gonna just have to bypass the tweeters that exist?
[ Chris  Aug 04, 2019 ]
1 answer
For best results, we recommend replacing your speakers with a component set that has a separate tweeter. When doing so, you would be replacing the tweeters that came from the factory. If you decided to use a coaxial speaker and leave your factory tweeters alone, they would not interfere with each other, but may have slightly different sounds.

[ ROY  Aug 09, 2019 ]
Yes and they sound very good. No distortion with good mid and high notes.
[ Torie  Aug 09, 2019 ]
What size of speaker baffles would I need to purchase for these speakers? Thanks for any information.
[ James  Apr 19, 2019 ]

6.5" baffles, I have a pair in my 01 Xtreme SS blazer and they sound great! No distortion and great mids & highs.
[ Torie  Apr 26, 2019 ]
I didn't use any baffles, if your installing them in the car door just use the mat.
[ ROY  Apr 26, 2019 ]
I have a 2001 Toyota Tundra SR5 Access Cab. Couple of questions. One, these should fit BOTH my front lower and rear door speakers, right? Two, does this include the free installation gear? And three, I would need to buy two pairs to replace all 4 speakers, correct? Thank you for your time and I hope I get my answers!!
[ 2001TundaOwner  Apr 17, 2019 ]
1 answer
These will be able to fit the front and rear doors. Vehicle specific gear is needed to install these and we will send that gear free with the speaker purchase. These are sold in pairs. You will need two pairs (one for the front doors and the other for the rear) My Bio:

Will these speakers fit my front doors on a 1996 Lincoln town car?
[ Anthony  Mar 18, 2019 ]

I think It'll require an adapter from 9"x6" to 6"x6".
[ Isaac  Mar 18, 2019 ]
I don't know, I used them in a newer silverado
[ Ron  Mar 18, 2019 ]
I have a 2014 dodge dart how good do you think the bass would be with these??
[ Dwayne  Mar 15, 2019 ]

I bought these speakers for an old work car I would upgrade to a better speaker
[ Mike  Mar 19, 2019 ]
Love kenwood speakers all around these have great sound with stock deck or after would sound awsome!
[ Theress  Mar 19, 2019 ]
I would probably go with something else. The sound quality wasn't that great if wanting a lot bass.
[ Amy  Mar 19, 2019 ]
They do not have a lot of bass but they are a great full range speaker and I have been very happy with them.
[ Glenmore  Mar 19, 2019 ]
These speakers should give adequate bass response, mine went into an '04 pt cruiser and delivered good bass for a relatively small driver.
[ Kurt  Mar 19, 2019 ]
The bass is fair for a round speaker. Better then any others I have tried. However the 6x9 speakers sound alot better
[ Mechtech  Mar 19, 2019 ]
I have mine in an 01 Xtreme SS and they sound great! No distortion and clean mid & highs. For bass I have a sub & amp so I'm not sure about the bass they produce. They sound good & clear with no distortion at all at any level.
[ Torie  Mar 18, 2019 ]
The bass response may be slightly improved over the factory stereo, however if you are just looking for better bass you would be better off investing in an aftermarket amplifier and sub, or aftermarket speakers and an amp.
[ Eric  Mar 15, 2019 ]
Wich will be a great tweeter for these speakers?
[ Vtecnology  Dec 25, 2018 ]
1 answer
I think the Kenwood KFC ST01 tweeters would be the best match with those. They use the same PEI material and have similar power handling so should blend well. If you have any other questions before you place an order you can chat with or call one of our Product Advisors here: --Cosmo

Are these simple to install in a 2005 Toyota Land Cruiser?
[ David  Oct 26, 2018 ]
3 answers
Actually, David, I installed them in my Lexus, not my Land Cruiser.
[ Gavin  Oct 26, 2018 ]
I would say that if you have even a little experience doing installation, then it isn't hard. I found some YouTube videos about removing the door panel, and it was easy after that. Make sure that you observe how to put the automatic door lock mechanism back in place. Also, when testing the new speakers, be aware that if the stick tweeter isn't plugged in, the new speaker won't work.
[ Gavin  Oct 26, 2018 ]
Should be pretty easy. I installed it on my 1997 Nissan Sentra in about an hour. Then took me about a half hour to install it on my 1998 Honda Accord after the Sentra died.
[ Derick  Oct 26, 2018 ]
If i put this brand on a amplifier.. Will they hold up??
[ Big Will  Oct 02, 2018 ]
1 answer
As long as the rms power doesn't put more power than what they are rated for you'll be fine
[ daniel  Oct 02, 2018 ]

Will these speakers fit my 2014 Volkswagen Jetta 1.8tsi without the fender audio system but with the cd changer?
[ Malik  Apr 16, 2018 ]

I don't know mine were installed in a 2007 GMC Canyon they sound pretty good And bass seems to improve over time
[ CLIFFORD  Apr 17, 2018 ]
Not really sure what you are referring to but, the speakers are pretty universal. I would check online and see what other owners have done or get an idea of what you may run into.
[ ENRIQUE  Apr 16, 2018 ]
I used these speakers in my front doors. If you're using these for the doors, they'll fit perfectly.
[ Michael  Apr 16, 2018 ]
I see some videos that you have to use the old frame of the speaker and weld the new speakers cables there is no other plug and play option?
[ Lerolero  Apr 02, 2018 ]
2 answers
For my application on a 2000 Accord it was plug and play, the speakers fit into the stock mounts perfectly and the wires connected no problem (with the included wiring harness they gave me)
[ Danielle  Apr 02, 2018 ]
When I installed mine Crutchfield supplied the speaker mounts and connector to make the install as easy as possible. Now I don't know the type of car your installing them in or where your getting them from, but if you haven't purchased them yet I recommend
[ Robert  Apr 02, 2018 ]

It's two speakers--left and right.
