About the Kenwood KDC-BT565U

A total music portal

I'm not my car's only driver, so I really appreciate a car stereo that allows you to switch between two phones quickly. Kenwood's KDC-BT565U CD receiver gives you that ability, along with hands-free calling and aptX® coding for crystal-clear audio streaming. You also can enjoy loads of music with controls for Internet radio stations, music files on a USB drive, and an optional SiriusXM tuner to tune in satellite radio goodness.

Pick your phone

The KDC-BT565U receiver offers direct control over a connected iPod® or iPhone®. You can also play, control, and charge select Android™ phones that are plugged into the front-panel USB port using the receiver's built-in AOA (Android Open Accessory 2.0). You can enjoy your favorite Pandora® and iHeartRadio® Internet Radio stations from your iPhone or Android.

In addition to streaming audio with Bluetooth, you can pair your phone with this Kenwood for hands-free calling. If your Android is Bluetooth aptX-compatible or your iPhone includes AAC files, you'll enjoy clear, CD-quality music streaming. For the times when you have to share the ride, the KDC-BT565U enables you to pair two Bluetooth-equipped phones and quickly switch between them – no more digging into tedious menus to change phones. The front panel display lets you know which phone is active.

Your music your way

You can also satisfy your music fix using the receiver's sensitive AM/FM radio, CD player, and front aux input for a portable music player. The receiver's USB port can handle MP3, WMA, AAC, WAV, or FLAC music files on a thumb drive too. If you think that terrestrial radio is too "old school," you can check out the incredibly deep programming offered by satellite radio by adding a SiriusXM tuner to this Kenwood. There's nothing better than finding a great SiriusXM station, then listening to it for the duration of your trip.

Some added goodies

With this Kenwood's impressive amplification, so you'll notice an improvement in the sound of your factory or aftermarket speakers. You can use the dynamic 13-band graphic equalizer to adjust the tone for your separate sources. The KDC-BT565U also provides three pairs of RCA preamp outputs, enabling you to connect additional amps to add even more punch to your sound. With its variable color adjustment, you get to pick the color for the receiver's single-line display for just the right look in your dash.

Want to keep your car's steering wheel audio controls?

In most cars, you'll need an adapter to retain those controls with this car stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and radio, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls. You'll see the adapters that work with your vehicle when you add this receiver to your cart.

Bluetooth note: Use of this receiver's Bluetooth features will depend upon your phone's Bluetooth capabilities. Learn more in our articles about Bluetooth profiles and streaming music using Bluetooth with aptX.

This car stereo initially had a problem with Bluetooth, an issue that's mentioned in some reviews. Kenwood has solved this problem with a software update on all units in our warehouse, effective 3/09/2016.

I bought this for the wife's car because she "likes Kenwood" I do to now :} Great sound & 2 tons of tuning options I was amazed to fine the Speaker Size option :} I will be adding a 4ch amp to drive the door speakers ( Kenwood 6.5s ) even though this HU has great power it can't keep up with the 500watt Fosgate amp driving a Pioneer 12 No HU should ever be expected to

Pros: Price\features Tuneing options sound quality

Cons: I should have installed it in My truck instead !! At least when the wife turns it up I can't Hear her talking smack about my Pioneer (it's 15yrs old now )

I see this radio is no longer being offered so I will keep it brief. I needed a radio that had "Brightness" control due to my light sensitivity and this one has it. It has 31 levels! I have gone down to 1 at night with 31 on a bright day. It is relatively easy to do so ,if you have to, it can be done at a stop light etc. I hope Kenwood/Crutchfield is offering this on their other radios. The Bluetooth for calling and playing tunes on my Android phone, Tuner, and CD player work Great. I don't have Pandora, iHeartRADIO or SiriusXM. The USB works and I'll have to try the AUX input but have faith it will work too.

It's totally fine. I'm sure there are newer (and therefore more expensive) versions out there, but this does everything I want a HU to do. Short of having AUX and/or USB ports on the back, and no illumination wire, I have no reservations about it. I could have bought a more expensive unit with those features, but... just not worth it to me. It's basic, it sounds great and the Bluetooth works well with my iPhone. The external mic is excellent; the Bluetooth was quick and easy to set up; BT Audio from my iPhone is also excellent. FYI, I'm using an external mini-amp (Clarion) with RCA-outs, and the HU's fader and EQ settings work very well with this setup. Lots of adjustment choices with the Kenwood HU. Huge thanks to Crutchfield's techs for providing me with my Montero's OEM amp wiring diagram. This is why I shop at Crutchfield.

I wanted to like this head unit but it let me down in a few key areas. Pros: Looks good; interface is clean and easy to operate Navigating the menu options is intuitive overall Sound is great with the built in DSP Cons: The cold winter mornings in Ohio have caused two of the digits to go dead until the interior of the car is warm (pretty odd) Pretty much unreadable display during the day with the sun Bluetooth is unreliable at best (My soul reason for upgrading the headunit in my car) on both my old samsung S5 and now my iphone 7 The unit randomly deleted all of my phones from the memory and I had a ton of trouble getting it to pair again (if this happens to you; delete the device from your phone, reset the receiver, and go through the pairing process again)

Amazing!!! This was a gift from my beautiful wife. This unit replaces a clarion unit I had for 5 years. It makes me say wow. I didn't know my sound system could sound this good. 2 6x9 alpine type R, 2 6.5" alpine type R, 2 1" silk tweeters on the dash, 100x4 soundstream amp for the highs, 600x1 soundstream class D mono powering a 12D4 alpine type R. 3 farad cap. The clarity that this unit produces is very crisp. Bluetooth sounds clear when using my phone. The pandora feature is such a big plus. My only complaint is that there are too many tuning options. Lol. Not really a bad thing. Once tuned you will be very happy with this radio.

Pros: Very clean sound. Many options in color, tuning, and audio choices.

Cons: Slight delay when changing sources. Radio, CD, iPod. Etc.

This is a nice unit for the price. Sounds great and the display is appealing, however the Bluetooth connection is awful!! I had to install 2 of these radios in my truck because the first one was faulty. Both of the radios would only allow me to connect my IPhone sometimes, for no reason at all the radio would delet my phone and I would have to pair it again, and to this date my phone is still not linked to my radio. Other than that it is a good unit.

Easy to install, great features and outstanding sound quality. I installed this receiver in a 1988 Buick Park Avenue with a factory 8-speaker audio system and it sounds amazing. I was even able to adjust the display color to match the other instruments in the car. Great unit!

This is a nice little unit! I almost gave it 4 stars because I was annoyed that it came with so many extra, unnecessary parts that were not used in the installation. Then I realized that this was actually awesome compared to having not enough time parts!! My 16 year old loves this deck and that he can play music from his phone via Bluetooth.

Pros: Colors, hands free phone, parts for different configurations/models that this fits.

I really like this unit but Kenwood took a step back from their older receivers in my opinion. My old receiver was a KDC-BT838U and it was easier to use. It had 2 knobs, which made navigating my iPhone a breeze, and it had simpler settings like bass/treble/sub. This new receiver has a lot more features, but the manual doesn't explain them very well. Overall though I'm nitpicking. I can change songs from my phone/steering wheel (with the SWI-RC box installed) and that's nice. The audio quality is amazing, front USB/Aux is nice, and being able to pick a LED color is a bonus. Installation will surely vary by your car but I didn't have any issues installing this. The steering-wheel addon was tricky, but I'm not reviewing that.

Pros: I like the overall look of it. The lighting is neat. USB on the front is a plus (old model had a cord coming out of the back). No issues with bluetooth audio. I didn't install the mic though.

Cons: Lots of settings aren't really covered in the manual. I couldn't find a bass/treble setting. Very hard to see when the sun is out. A second knob would make it easier to navigate songs on my iPhone. Older Kenwood models had this.

I replaced the stock radio and speakers in my Ford Ranger with this stereo and the Kenwood 5x7 speakers (Kenwood KFC-C6865S). Couldn't be happier. As always, wiring was a breeze with the install kit from Crutchfield. Bluetooth phone works great -- I just have to find out how to tweak the volume a bit in the settings but that's not a big issue. The stereo has plenty of features and plenty of power for the four 5x7 Kenwood speakers. Great unit for a great price.

Pros: Easy installation. Wiring was easy with the Crutchfield installation kit. Great price.

The radio sounds and looks good. The hands free calling and Blue tooth streaming is great. The problem with this radio is the glare in the display. When the sun beats on the radio you can not see the display. It is not a brightness thing more of a glare on the extra glossy display window. It does not matter what you sent the color to or the brightness, if it is sunny forget about reading the display or seeing the numbers on the buttons. At night it is great with many different select-able colors.

Pros: Sounds great, easy to use, hands free calling works well

Cons: The display has too much glare and is too weak for daytime usage

    Good unit for stock replacement

I bought this to replace the stock unit in my 2006 Mazda3. I had replaced it years ago but the unit was stolen so I reinstalled the original. Overall I am very happy with the unit. Ultimately it sounds really good through the aftermarket speakers I have. I found it easy to use. The hands free phone feature paired with my iPhone and is great. I mounted the microphone on the steering column. I did a little bit of tuning based on the manual and it sounds fine. The Pandora sync and iPhone music sync work very well. I noticed people complaining about the screen washing out. To me that seems to be very dependent on the color that you use. Red was the worst, and blue was the best. You have a zillion colors to choose from, so you just have to find out which works best for you. I haven't played with the manual equalizer yet. There are a number of presets and I found one that sounds good. There are numerous, numerous settings you can play around with if you are inclined to. The complaints I have are mostly irritating. The biggest is that the power off button is also the sound source button. If you just press it you change the source. You have to hold it down to turn it off. I realize that real estate is scarce but they could have just put an on/off button it. All in all I am very happy with this. The install was piece of cake and it all fit perfectly, looks good and sounds great. I was looking for a low drama unit and I found it.

Pros: -Great sound -Easy to use -Handsfree phone/Pandora/iPhone sync work very well

Cons: -Ergonomics are kind of irritating.

Excellent features! Impeccable Bluetooth quality! Great sound! I was looking for a Bluetooth stereo to update my vehicle. Originally bought a stereo with built in a BT mic, but the BT quality was terrible. Although I didn't want an external mic hanging from my ceiling, I'm glad I found this Kenwood. Other than the extensive features offered on this radio, the backlight/display color options are excellent! I was able to match the factory dash lights nearly perfectly! If you're looking for a great replacement stereo, look no further, order this one NOW... You won't regret it!

Pros: Excellent quality Great sound Easy BT connection and operation BT audio and phone work perfectly Seemingly infinite color options for display Value for $$$

    Cons: None that I've found

Overall this appears to be a solid unit. Everything has worked flawlessly. I had no trouble installing it and connecting over bluetooth to my iPhone 6. The hands-free calling capability works and has decent sound quality. Like other reviewers, I'm disappointed with the screen brightness. It is difficult to see during daylight. My preferred color (orange) was too dim; I had to set the color to white with full brightness in order to see it clearly. (I think the issue is caused more by glare on the ultra shiny cover than by the screen brightness itself.) The tuner sensitivity is at least as good as the factory unit that I replaced, and perhaps better. The clock is displayed on a small bottom row beneath the main radio text, making it hard to read when the unit is turned on. There doesn't appear to be any way to get it to display the time in the main text area while the unit is turned on, but it can do it when off. Navigating and selecting settings is not as intuitive as it could be. It took a while to get it configured the way I want -- even though I referenced the user manual throughout the process.

    Pros: Features

Cons: Screen brightness, ease of use

After installing the stereo, I turned it to the tuner first and the sound quality from my factory speakers was immediately better even with just the tuner. I bought the stereo mainly for the Bluetooth connectivity, and had it set up in less than 6 minutes (plus setting up the clock and date). The sound quality from that was incredible. I actually changed my mind about replacing my speakers the sound quality increased so much. Love it

Pros: Great sound quality Plenty of power for factory speakers Plenty of connection options

    Cons: Nope.

I was in need for a replacement for my factory receiver that the CD player had failed. After much research I decided to purchase The Kenwood KDC-BT565U because of the features and benefits of the unit. Crutchfield's assistance in making my decision based on knowledge and pairing with my existing system was priceless. Installation was simple and straightforward with the instructions from the Crutchfield guide that was specific to my vehicle. I couldn't be more pleased!

Pros: Simple to navigate. Very pleasant visually. Drastic sonic improvement over the OEM unit that it replaced. Has all the features I will ever need.

Looks nice and neat when installed, the ability to color-match the OEM dash lighting is handy. The sound is very clean. The Bluetooth connection is easy and seems reliable. Some of the user interface settings are buried in knob-twiddling -- for example, configuring the multiband EQ requires an absurd amount of careful knob clicks. However, once configured, the EQ sounds great, and the price is right for the features. The adapted steering wheel control support works perfectly.

Pros: Looks nice, sounds great, reliable, supports steering wheel controls.

Cons: Lots of knob twiddling to set up

    Built-in Bluetooth

Bluetooth Technology: The Kenwood KDC-BT565U is equipped with built-in Bluetooth (ver. 2.1+EDR/3.0) allowing you to make and receive phone calls wirelessly through the receiver; as well as stream music wirelessly from your smartphone to the head unit. In order to use Bluetooth wireless technology, your phone must also be Bluetooth compatible and be able to interpret certain profiles. This unit is compatible with the following Bluetooth Profiles:

    • Hands-Free Communication: HFP 1.5 (Hands Free Profile), OPP 1.1 (Object Push Profile), PBAB 1.0 (Phone Book Access Profile).
    • Audio Streaming: A2DP 1.2 (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile), AVRCP 1.5 (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile).
Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the Kenwood KDC-BT565U. Visit Kenwood's Support Site for a complete list of compatible Bluetooth enabled phones.

Secure Simple Pairing (SSP) + Auto Pairing (via USB): With Secure Simple Pairing (SSP), you can easily pair a Bluetooth enabled phone to the Kenwood KDC-BT565U without having to enter pin codes or go through complicated settings. You can even pair your Apple iPhone (iOS 5+) or Android smartphone (running Kenwood Music Play App) by simply connecting it to the Kenwood head unit via USB and following a single prompt on the head unit's display. When an already paired Bluetooth device is in close proximity to the receiver, the auto connection function automatically pairs the two units. You can pair up to ten Bluetooth-enabled devices to the Kenwood head unit, with a maximum of two Bluetooth phones and one Bluetooth audio device connected at one time, making it easier to switch between devices.

Bluetooth Hands-Free Communication (w/ External Mic): The head unit supports Bluetooth hands-free communication for your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone. The controls of the KDC-BT565U can be used to dial a number, answer an in-coming call, or end a call. The unit also includes an external microphone (featuring adjustable gain), so you can carry on your side of the conversation while listening to the caller through your vehicles speakers. During a conversation, you can switch between the Private Mode (talking directly on your cell phone) and the Hands Free Mode.

    • Answering a Call: When a call comes in, a ring-tone will be heard through your vehicle's speaker and the caller's name or phone number will be displayed. You can answer the call from the head unit's front-panel controls, or setup the head unit to automatically answer the incoming call immediately or after 1-30 seconds. The KDC-BT565U also supports the Call Waiting function, so you can answer another incoming call while suspending the current call you are on. Your compatible cell-phone must also support this feature.
    • Dialing a Number: Using the KDC-BT565U, you can dial a phone number in one of the following ways:
      • Enter Phone #: Allows you to directly dial a phone number up to 32 digits from the head unit's control knob or remote control.
      • Preset Dial: Allows you to register up to 6 phone numbers for quick dialing. The preset numbers can be accessed from the head unit's front-panel controls.
      • Phone Book: You can download phone book data from your mobile phone to the KDC-BT565U. You can then dial a contact within the phonebook from the head unit's front-panel controls. Contacts are categorized as Home, Office, Mobile, Other, or General.
      • Call History: The Call History is a list of calls that have originated from and were received by this unit that you can dial. You can select Outgoing, Incoming, or Missed calls.
      • Voice Dialing: If your mobile phone supports voice recognition, then you can dial out by voice command. Simply speak into the included microphone.

External Mic: The external wired microphone offers improved audio quality versus an integrated microphone, so you can be heard easier over noisy traffic and road noise. You can adjust the volume level, noise cancellation, and echo cancellation of the microphone without affecting the other sources. The external microphone features an attached 10' cable terminated by a right-angle 3.5mm connector which plugs into the mic input on the rear-panel of the head unit. The microphone offers an integrated mounting bracket which can be clipped to your vehicle's sun-visor or taped to your dash.

Wireless Audio Streaming (w/ aptX): The Kenwood KDC-BT565U supports wireless audio playback (AD2P) and control (AVRCP) of a Bluetooth-enabled smartphone or audio player, plus song/artist information display and support for aptX lossless music streaming.

    • Stored Music & Music Apps: You are able to stream your stored music library on your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone, as well as music apps downloaded on your smartphone to the Kenwood KDC-BT565U for playback.
    • AAC & aptX Codecs: In addition to support for the standard SBC Bluetooth audio codec, the KDC-BT565U offers support for AAC and aptX codecs for higher quality audio streaming from select Apple & Android devices. By supporting AAC, the KDC-BT565U offers better audio performance of the music streamed from your Apple iPod, iPhone, or iPad. aptX audio coding technology provides even better sound quality with lossless, CD-quality streaming for compatible aptX-compatible smartphones, like many Android smartphones with OS 4.0+.
    • Advanced Music Playback: In addition to basic playback functions (Play/Pause, FF/RW, Skip, Random/Repeat), the KDC-BT565U lets you browse your stored music by Playlist, Artist, Album, Song, etc. (AVRCP 1.4+ phones only).
    • Song/Artist Information: The head unit will also display your stored music and music app's song information; such as Artist name and Song/Album title (not compatible with all apps).
Note: When an incoming call or outgoing call is in progress from your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone, audio streaming will be paused so you can take your call. Once the call is finished, your streaming music will resume.

Siri Eyes Free Control: When paired and connected to an iPhone with Siri via Bluetooth, the Kenwood KDC-BT565U has the ability to access Siri through its front-panel controls and external microphone. Simply press-and-hold down on the head unit's Answer Button to engage Siri and use the included microphone to communicate with Siri. Siri's voice will heard through your vehicle's speakers. All Siri functions including hands-free calling, music search, setting reminders, text-messaging, audible navigation, and more can be done through the KDC-BT565U and its microphone. You even can ask Siri to get directions to a destination and the turn-by-turn instructions will heard through your vehicle's speakers, while the on-screen map still displays on your iPhone with Siri. The head unit's audio is attenuated while Siri provides audible directions.

Note: The head unit's display will only indicate hands-free calling and Bluetooth audio information (all other functions of Siri are only audible through the Kenwood KDC-BT565U; visual data will still need to be viewed from your iPhone device).

    Android & iPhone Integration

Android Open Accessory 2.0 (AOA 2.0) Connectivity: The Kenwood KDC-BT565U's front-panel USB port lets you connect select Android smartphones that support AOA 2.0 for music playback. Kenwood does not guarantee operation with all Android devices. Click here for the most current list of compatible Android smartphones. There are two Android AOA 2.0 modes to choose from based on what content you want to listen to and how you want to control it.
    • Hand Mode: The Kenwood KDC-BT565U supports Android Open Accessory 2.0 (AOA 2.0), which lets  you connect your Android smartphone (OS 4.1+) to the KDC-BT565U's front-panel USB port and listen to stored music and music apps from your Android device through the Kenwood head unit. You'll be able to control basic playback functions such as Play/Pause and Previous/Next Track. Other advanced music navigation will still be done from your Android smartphone's touchscreen. In this mode, the head unit will not display song/artist information; only "Hand Mode" will show up on display. You'll continue to view song/artist information from the Android device's touchscreen. You'll also still be able to access other functions and applications from your Android smartphone's touchscreen, while listening to music through the head unit. If you make a call or answer a call from your smartphone while listening to music in this mode, the music will pause until you are finished with the call and then start back up again.
    • Kenwood Music Play: Downloading the Kenwood Music Play app onto your Android (OS 4.1+) smartphone with AOA 2.0 support not only allows you to listen to stored music from your Android device through the Kenwood CD receiver connected via USB, but it also lets you browse your Android smartphone's music library from the head unit's front-panel controls. You can browse your store music library by Playlist, Artist, Song, Album, or Genre. You can also control Play/Pause and Previous/Next track from the head unit. In addition, the head unit will display song/artist information. You can exit the Kenwood Music Play app to access other functions and applications of your Android smartphone, while your stored music library is still playing through your head unit. If you make a call or answer a call from your smartphone while listening to music in this mode, the music will pause until you are finished with the call and then start back up again.

iPhone Direct Connection: The Kenwood KDC-BT565U's front-panel USB port can be used to connect your Lightning-connector or 30-pin dock connector iPod/iPhone to the head unit. The KDC-BT565U supports audio playback, music navigation, information display, and charging of your compatible Apple device.

    • Lightning Connector: If you have a newer iPod/iPhone with the Lightning-connector, you can use Kenwood's Lightning connector-to-USB cable (113KCIP103 sold separately) or the Lightning-to-USB cable that came with your Apple device to connect your iPod/iPhone to the KDC-BT565U.
    • 30-Pin Dock Connector: If you have an older iPod/iPhone with a 30-pin dock connector, you can use Kenwood's dock connector-to-USB cable (113KCIP102, sold separately) or the dock connector-to-USB cable that comes with your Apple device to connect your iPod/iPhone to the KDC-BT565U.

iPhone Audio Playback w/ DAC Bypass: The USB connection allows your iPod/iPhone's stored music and music apps to be loaded instantly to the head unit and sound quality to be maximized through the head unit's 16-bit D/A converter, allowing for a Signal to Noise ratio up to 105dB. The Kenwood head unit supports audio playback of stored music, music apps, and podcasts on your iPod or iPhone. The KDC-BT565U provides music control and song/artist information display. You can choose between two operating modes.

    • Head Unit Mode + Song/Artist Info: From the head unit's front-panel controls you can search for stored music by Playlist, Artist, Album, Song, Podcast, Genre, and Composer. The contents of a Playlist or Category can be searched alphabetically or numerically; you can even skip through the stored music files in specific increments (0.5/1/5/10%). The KDC-BT565U also supports Repeat (file/all) and Random (album/all) playback functions of stored music on your iPod/iPhone. In addition, you'll be able to control basic playback functions (such as Play/Pause, Previous/Next Track) from stored music and select music apps streamed to your iPhone. During Head Unit Mode, the KDC-BT565U will display your iPod/iPhone's music file information such as Track number, Elapsed playing time, Artist name, Song title, and Album title. Newer iPod/iPhones with iOS 6.0+ allow you to continue to access your Apple device's touchscreen in this mode in order to access other applications; older iPod/iPhone devices will be locked during connection.
    • iPod/iPhone Mode: The iPod/iPhone Mode lets you control your older iPod/iPhone (iOS 5.1.1 and earlier) from its clickwheel or touchscreen. You'll still have access to basic playback controls (like Play/Pause & Previous/Next Track) from the head unit, but advanced navigation functions will be locked. No song/artist information is displayed in this mode. The unit will simply display "App & iPod Mode".

Smartphone Charging: The head unit's USB connection provides 1.5A of current to power and charge your connected Apple iPod/iPhone or Android smartphone when your vehicle's ignition switch is set to the 'ACC' or 'On' position (if your iPod/iPhone has no initial battery charge, then the unit will not recognize it).

      • Slope: -6dB, -12dB, -18dB, -24dB
      • Phase: Reverse (180°), Normal (0°)
      • Gain: -8 to 0 dB

Equalizer: The Kenwood KDC-BT565U offers 8 EQ Presets for east adjustment, a 13-band EQ for customized tuning, a Drive EQ mode to overcome road noise, and a Stage EQ for better imaging. Separate EQ settings and EQ presets can be stored for each source or you can apply one EQ preset or curve to all sources.

    • Preset EQ: The integrated equalizer offers 8 preset sound modes (Rock, Pops, Easy, Top 40, Jazz, Natural, Drive EQ, or User) suitable for the music genre of your choice.
    • 13-Band EQ: The User mode allows you to manually adjust the head unit's 13-band EQ (62.5Hz, 100Hz, 160Hz, 250Hz, 400Hz, 630Hz, 1kHz, 1.6kHz, 2.5kHz, 4kHz, 6.3kHz, 10kHz, & 16kHz). Each frequency's gain level can be adjusted from -9dB to +9 dB, while the Q-factor can be adjusted to 1.35, 1.5, or 2.0
    • Drive EQ: The Drive EQ mode helps you hear your music over road noise. It boosts certain frequencies ranges that becomes hard to hear due to road noise.
    • Stage EQ: Stage EQ virtually lifts the sound up to ear-level for better imaging inside your vehicle.

Audio Settings: The Kenwood KDC-BT565U offers a variety of audio settings to further enhance your music listening experience.

    • Sound Reconstruction: When MP3, WMA, AAC files encoded at a low bit rate (less than 96 kbps, 44.1k, 48kHz) are played, the Sound Reconstruction function restores their high frequencies so the sound quality is closer to files encoded at a high bit rate. The processing is optimized for the compression format and the bit rate used. When Sound Reconstruction is Off, the unit plays the original sound stored in the audio file.
    • Space Enhancer & Sound Realizer: The Spacer Enhancer widens the soundstage inside your vehicle, while the Sound Realizer makes your music sound more realistic.
    • Loudness, Bass Boost & Bass Extension: The Loudness feature boosts low and high frequencies to produce a well-balanced sound at a low volume level. The unit's Bass Boost enhances low bass frequencies at any volume level. There is also a Bass Extension feature which further enhances the unit's bass output at extremely low frequencies.
    • Volume Offset: The level of each source may be independently adjusted to prevent radical leaps in output volume when switching from one source to another. The available settings range from -15 to +6.

Key Beep: The in-dash head unit provides an audible beep to confirm button operation. This function can be turned On or Off.

    Display Features

Detachable Face w/ Hidden CD Slot: The Kenwood KDC-BT565U features a hidden CD slot behind a manual flip-up cover which blends into the front-panel of the head unit. The clock is only displayed when selected and does not displayed simultaneously with song/artist or station information. The day & time can be selected to remain on, even if the head unit is switched off (as long as the vehicle's key is in the accessory or start position).

Demo Mode: This unit features a Demo mode which can be turned On or Off within the menu.

    Remote Control

Wireless Remote Control: The KDC-BT565U comes with an IR remote control (RC-406) for wireless operation of the head unit. The remote will control Audio, CD, USB, iPod/iPhone, Android, Bluetooth, and Tuner functions. It is powered by a single CR2025 3V lithium-cell battery (supplied).

Hi Michael, Yes FLAC files that are stored on a USB mass storage device can be played on this unit as long as you use a cable that is no longer than 5m and are not connecting via a USB hub. Your USB device must be rated 5V only and cannot exceed 1.5 A. Good luck, Gary
